Saints vs Sheffield Utd (A) Capital One Quarter Final
100%Red&White replied to Bearsy's topic in The Saints
2,600 in the lower tier so we must have around half of the top tier (not including the newer corner section) at the mo with 1,400 up there. I guess the Police ideally wouldn't want home fans above the aways so a good chance we may be offered another couple of blocks if needed. This is set up for a big old fashion cup atmosphere, they'll make a racket and hopefully our lot will be bouncing around from the start. -
It would be a mackeral if they changed there ways. Cod moves in mysterious ways.
-
We're getting to the fin edge of the wedge now. Btw, did anyone know they once hadadock strike down there once and those dirty scummaaaaahhhhs broke it? Or something.
-
And later on they can just sit back and watch us. Live. On national TV. Sweet.

I can't really disagree with you - I'd like to see an English anthem - but that's not the argument here.
-
Still a little mythed that 5-10% of a group of people singing a song about an illegal terroist organisation is seen as worse than 90-95% of same group booing and whistling ours/theirs National Anthem that doesn't appear to warrant a mention. Never mind, what was the score again?

That was the night the Archers really took off, the noise was fantastic in the final stages, if ever it was proved that fans really make a difference then that night was it. The roar drove that side forward (when you think what it's like attacking the Chapel these days!) the Geordies just fell to pieces and "Alan Ball's Red'n'White Army" rattled around the Dell. The pre-match Solent phone-ins always had regular callers, one of the funniest must have been that skate that called in most weeks claiming to be a fan of just about every other club in the land to say the same old bullsh*te, "p*mpey's support is *insert bullsh*te here*", trouble is he changed his name but never his accent! Nothing changes.

THE GUARDIAN: Interview with Dušan Tadić

He's a gem. -
Itchen North was good in its day - we had STs over there for the Play-Off season, probably as good as it's been. Good ol' crowd in there back then but we lasted just one season in there, crazy wait for the half-time pint and if you sit lower than halfway up you're gonna get your eyes burned out if it's a sunny day. One thing's for sure, having moved around a few times it does highlight how poor the stadium acoustics are. If you're over in the Itchen you barely notice the Northam home crowd but aways are usually pretty loud but as the Kingsland North have been seats of choice ever since, sometimes you wouldn't know there were visiting fans nearby.

Gareth Bale and Theo Walcott are perfect to reflect the success of, what it is, our Academy. As much as winning the cup in '76 was probably (for us old enough) one of the best days of our lives, having the 'hall of fame' dedicated to our only real success would be a bit tinpot. I liked the one opposite that Dowie picture.

New Koeman Chant- to be given trial run at Hull
100%Red&White replied to MickeyAggy's topic in The Saints
This 'New Koeman Chant' seems to be getting mixed up with the Pelle one. There's 3 different threads now for Koeman songs, best efforts on here so far imo http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?51889-Song-for-Koeman&highlight=song+koeman This one still gets my vote, good noisy chant that everyone knows Ei-Ei-Ei-O Up the Premier League we go, And when we get to Europe This is what we'll sing, We're Southampton, we're Southampton Koeman is our king. -
Saints vs Sheffield Utd (A) Capital One Quarter Final

Excellent pricing, hopefully Saints will demand the full allowance and wouldn't be a bad one to use the 'away fund' to subsidise coach travel for those that want it (would rather walk myself). I'm a ST holder so assured of a (if we get there) semi/final ticket but the club could also 'guarantee' a home semi-final seat for all non-ST that go up. -
Who the f**k is running the ticket office?
100%Red&White replied to Kaiser Soze's topic in The Saints
Yeah, I think you're right with the Emirates - but it is standard practice to take segregation out of visiting fans allocation at most stadiums. -

It is 3,000 'seats' but they usually take the segregation out of that. -

The last time we played a cup quarter final up in Sheffield, 10,000 Saints fans turned up and it was live on the BBC. 'kinell, that was over 30 years ago! Right near Xmas but guess it will be more like 3-4,000 this time? -

Another long haul midweek but will be a 'proper' cup tie. One thing's for sure, their crowd will be the leveller, noisy f*ckers on their day. Been there a couple of times, their 'kop' is a cracker, we should have a few up there so can add to the atmosphere. Optimism understandable (on paper but this IS the cup) but let's not get complacent. -
"Scummers", smells fishy.

I would think any further tickets will be pay up front so the club are probably just happy to have sold what they had. It usually works this way but if the home club can't then go on and sell those tickets tpo their own fans (Hull were 3k under capacity against Man City) then it's them that miss out on extra revenue this way. I believe visiting clubs make little or no money on away ticket sales. Having said that, you'd expect us to sell a few hundred more as the game is still well over a week away.
-
No way of telling how many sold so far but another good win Saturday would probably boost numbers as Saints fans will be able to just pay on the night. Hull away is now sold out.
-
Stoke have made this stand entirely for away supporters - not because they're anticipating every Saints fan that travelled to the Emirates to turn up but because they wont even fill the other three. We were given 2,800 tickets - if we take a thousand that would be a decent turnout for this but will look lost in that end! I'd think we'll take around 1,500.

Some of my photos of the building of St. Marys Staduim.
100%Red&White replied to Norm's topic in The Saints
Just stumbled across a load of old photos of the Dell and of the stadium going up, too many to post but a couple of memories: Last post at the Dell, the last few stragglers leaving after the Brighton finale First match at St Mary's - all those fans standing in the Chapel, what happened?! -
Going back to when Markus Liebherr first came to the club I'm sure the talk was about getting back to the Premier League as part of a five year plan but to make club self-sustaining in the process. After Markus passed away things moved along far speedier than anticipated as did, it appeared, Cortese's ambition with somebody elses money. Maybe we're now just getting back to Markus' original objective. I believe this club can grow over time but it will never (like all the others) make a sustained assault on the top 5 or 6 clubs. That's just how it is and the way SFC is now being run is fine with me.
