  1. Highbury 1984 - 35 bloody years and it still kills me ! The Bent equaliser for Everton in 05 comes close. If I could make an honourable mention for Oldham in the League Cup in about 86 or 87.....it wasn’t so much the goal as referee Roger fkin Milford and his broken watch allowing a ridiculous amount of injury time. The bastard.
  2. That was my feeling too. The defensive substitutions invited pressure that we just aren’t any good at defending. Has the manager not noticed that yet ? They had two great chances to get a point at the end. Had they done so Ralph would have been crucified on here.
  3. Exactly, says it all if you have to go back two and a half years to remember a game where he played well
  4. Is that so? Wow, and Eddie’s changed the style so they don’t even score many now !
  5. I suspect Redmond is one of the undroppable ones in Ralph's thinking
  6. ”He’s always a concern” Oh I love that, ain’t that just the truth and a very polite way of putting it too
  7. I can’t believe after two summers and three transfer windows we are still having to pick a player of Stephen’s ability, or lack of rather. The sheer incompetence of going all this time without addressing the problem is a disgrace.
  8. Anyone who’s opinion is different to yours you mean
  9. Absolutely this
  10. Hardly. Where’s he been in the last few squads? In the past year there are quite a few players that have overtaken him, Mason Mount being the latest one. You are stretching the definition of fringes a bit ! It annoys me that if you criticise JWP some will come on here and start rambling on about hate campaign etc. Utter bollicks. We all see the game differently and I for one thought he was abysmal last night. Yep the free kick was great and won the game but the one he had before that in an ideal position was crap ! Doesn’t mean I hate him, just means I don’t particularly rate him, I’m still after all these years none the wiser as to what his best position is, it certainly isn’t as one of the two central midfielders. Would he be or look better with a good player next to him? Maybe but we aren’t in a position to see that at the moment. And all this “people who know about football pick him” stuff is very very selective memory rubbish. The truth is every single manager up to now with the exception I think of Puel has picked him for a good run of games then at some point dropped him back to the bench or out of the squad. It’s a fact, check the record books. Do you honestly believe if the people “that know” thought he was any good he would still be here ? I hope he hits a purple patch like he did last season, for his sake but most of all for ours because he’s obviously going to be picked every week and we can’t afford any more bloody under performers than we’ve got in that squad already.
  11. He didn’t have a good game, nobody did really, let’s not let three points paper over the cracks. JWP and PEH is the weakest central midfield partnership in the league by a country mile.
  12. People seem to have watched a better and different JWP than I did. The one trick pony’s one trick came off and he scored which I guess is why he gets picked. The number of sideways and backwards passes, the way he slows play down, I thought he was bloody dreadful, as was PEH and Stephens....oh and Cedric
  13. I see the club are still peddling this “Southampton Way” ********. I thought they had quietly buried that one.
  14. You should be writing for Eastenders with storylines like that - genius......totally unbelievable but briliant all the same
  15. I think Obafemi has something about him and is worth persevering with, just hope his injury issues are behind him. There is no way that was his miss in the second half, in terms of putting the chance on the plate Cedric completely screwed it up.
  16. If the two central midfielders are PEH and JWP then Arsenal will have a field day. Is Ralph trying to get the sack? Everyone fit and that’s what he comes up with? Give me strength
  17. Oh cone on, he had been here for 12 years, there wasn’t much more he could realistically achieve, especially given the board’s unwillingness to spend big - wow, that sounds familiar - it’s not like he ran away at the first opportunity, far from it in fact.
  18. Come about Thursday we will start getting articles about: a good 2 week training window for most of the players, lots of hard work done, working on areas we need to improve, clear the air meetings, everybody showing responsibilty for their job in the team, no hiding, no shirking, standing up to be counted ready to put all the hard work into practice at Arsenal Arsenal to win 3-0
  19. it certainly hasn’t worked out as well as he would have liked, oh well, **** happens !
  20. what happened to the guy on here who thought JWP was THE team and used to come out with all these stats in an effort to prove he was good. Would love to see how he spins his contributions now !
  21. cant argue with that to be fair
  22. Wonder how that big friendship with Kat is working out these days ?
  23. JWP is not, never has been and never will be any good as a central midfielder, opponents stroll past him like he’s not there, which he shouldn’t be. No further proof is needed after Saturday surely? The idea of Stephens as a holding midfield player might work.
  24. Good - Djenepo, Boufal, Ings, Romeu Competent - McCarthy, Bertrand, Hojberg, Redmond, Cedric, Bednerek Poor - Gunn, Valery, Yoshida, Stephens, Vestergaard, JWP, Armstrong, Adams, Long Havent seen enough of Danso or Obafemi really to judge them. And I’m being generous to one or two, especially on current form....yes you Redmond and PEH !!!
