Oh no, was just checking FB about to respond to a mate's post only to find a reply from one of his friends, a one Neil Allen. Time for a bit of skate baiting me thinks

you're an idiot. Assuming 14805 is your genuine supporter base crowd, last time I did the maths 14805 was less than 15000 but better not let facts get in the way eh? One major problem with this is that 14805 is a skewed total so let's look realistically at what your guarenteed attendances are going to be. Assuming the following - * For the last 4 home games there's been mass ticket price reductions and a big push from the club to get bums on seats so I think all attendances post 17-Feb should be discounted from the calc. * Given there's a possibility Saints, WetSpam & Reading will not be in the division next year to boost your attendances (replaced probably by Wolves, Wigan & Bolton - can't see them attracting big crowds), I think they should be removed from attnedance calcs. Upon recalculating with the above in mind I get 13740 at best and that's not even taking into account of the probability that you may well be in League 1 next year. 15000 guarenteed - my a75e!

The maths is correct. It means that to guarentee our promotion we need a minimum of 5 wins, 2 draws and a loss, obtaining a average of 2.125 points per game.
-
Readings next 5 games will determine their future and possibley ours - Blackpool H WetSpam A Leeds H Brighton A Saints A I think on thing is for certain, there will be dropped points for Reading in the next 5 games (can not see them winning all of these games) and we have to capitalise when they do. Ideally I'd love them to lose to Blackpool, beat WetSpam, draw to Leeds, draw to Brighton lose to Saints but I think they'll lose 1, draw 2 and win 2

Just listened to 5 live on my way to work this morning and some delude skate came on pleading for a buyer and going on about sleeping giant , best fans , etc etc........blah blah. I nearly crashed my car I was laughing so much. The real punch line was when guy said it was an attractive club because they were guarenteed 15,000 attendances every home game ......... exluding the fact their average attendance is under that figure, this guy said his punch line about 20 minutes after the game against Brum had finished - attendance 12,185 There's just no helping some people!
-
I think he means that they are safe to finish their fixtures - no mention of after that though. I also think it was a bit rude of him not to thank WetSpam.

I certainly think all the carry on is an over reaction jumpy bandwagon thing. It is really sad and shocking what has happened (made the worse for the live TV cameras and packed stadium) but I don't recall all PL players wearing t-shirts, a minute's applause at all PL games, games postponed etc. when Petr Cech nearly died with his head injury. Don't get me wrong it is sad, what ever way you look at it, and I wish him all the best and speedy recovery but there are thousands of people dying every day, people who have done amazing things and touched so so many people in many ways yet goes unreported or done in a way that doesn't whip up a frenzy. Here's is an example - Jim Stynes passed away this morning. He was a champion Aussie Rules footballer and if you look into his life he has done some amazing things for charities and Aussie Rules. A very sad day for Australian sport. http://www.abc.net.au/news/2012-03-20/jim-stynes-tributes/3900220

Yes it is - anyhting past the Watford Gap is north. I used to live there (Canley) in 1998/1999 and it was like living in a grim northern town with dwindling industries loads of filthy locals and funny accents. ......unless the place has changed of course.

It's all gone very very quiet, too quiet even, although I can't make up my mind if it's too quiet for the few or too quiet for those waiting to hear them go pop.

I've watched again and it still sounds like "Fabrice he w****r". Even if he may think that's what the crowd is chanting he's a w****r for chanting it. The situation was obvious to anyone that it was serious.
-
Please please don't tell me that the guy chanted, 4 minutes 18 seconds into that clip, was what I though I heard (I am hard of hearing but hope it's not what I thought I heard). I also noted a video on Youtube that was laughing at the situation. What sick c***s!!! My thoughts are with the player, family and friends! really sad day & hope he pulls through!

If you were writing a banner for pompey, what would you put on it?

Age 35, born in Wokingham 9 days prior to the FA Cup win (was destined for me to be a Saint). Born into a p****y supporting family (although my aunt used to live in Shirley my uncle used to go to every game, including the reserves before he moved away). I managed to break the shackles of the family and will never forget the look on my old man's face when, at 7 years old, he told me to support a team for a reason (was keen on ManUre before then), for me to swiftly think about my Aunt in Shirley and say "OK, I'll support Southampton" Grew up in south Bucks, went to Uni in Skatesville and now living amongst the vines in sunny South Australia (just south of Adelaide). First game (away) was Stoke in Oct 1984 (won 1-3) - must have been painful for the old man, being a skate and all - the things we do for our kids First game at the Dell was Man City May 1993 (lost 0-1) - the day my aunt in Shirley passed away so was a pretty f***ing depressing day! It took me until I could drive before I saw a game at the Dell as my dad refused to take me and we lived 70-80 miles away.

The quote that gets me is "We don't always do it". If that's not admitting to special treatment I don't know what is.

Just found this nice little peice from the Guradian dating back to 2004 on the top 10 worst football grounds in the UK. No surprises for guessing which ground was on that list. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2004/oct/10/newsstory.sport2 I guess the only surprise from it was that Nottarf Krap was as low as number 5 (I thought it would have made top 3) but there are some things that just haven't changed in 8 years (particularly the comment about the toilets and TCWTB) I was going to highlight some of the best parts but the whole narrative itself is the best part, although I particularly like the last sentence - that was my experience after spending 3 years living in that dump!!
-
Loving the comments - Yeah great idea, let them build a ground where empty seats out number taken seats. They can't even fill a 20k shed when they need support more than ever.

This is surely a minefield for ethical behaviour. Any club in the Championship or and club who is owing monies to or is owed money from PFC should not be allowed to have purchase their players on loan. Clubs like WestSpam buying any player from PFC is cheating in the highest order because they have most to lose should they fold and it can be seen that they are only buying the player to avoid the points being expunged.
-
bit of a dilemma for the phew tomorrow night. Beat Reading and they help save themselves from relegation (which in turn, if they do avoid relegation, makes them more attractive to buy) but at the same token assist our promotion push.

As I've mentioned before, that's on the assumption that a CVA gets approved which, the longer this goes on, I just can't see happening.
