  1. Well we didn't lose the game before this. Everyone was expecting us to get thrashed with all the players we have out and in the end we only got thrashed because we were down to 10 men. Think some perspective is needed. Some of the takes from so-called fans on here and particularly on Twitter is just ridiculous.
  2. The team isn't good enough, let's be honest. Unless we have someone in ready to go immediately there's no point in sacking Martin.
  3. No point reading anything into that game. We played alright before the sending off, and with our B team practically out. Stephens should have the captaincy stripped, pure stupidity from him and completely unprofessional. Hopefully on Saturday we get back to something similar to the Brighton team and we'll get something from Villa.
  4. Old Trafford is always a popular one tbh, even though it's one of the worst grounds in the league, it is literally falling apart and the seats are very tight. Good atmosphere though, as you'd expect.
  5. Yup. Luckily, it's the League Cup semi finals the previous midweek, so the TV picks for the 3rd round will be made before the quarter final so that rules out any day before Saturday as we could in theory still be involved. However, there are Premier League midweek fixtures after, and we're on Thursday, so theoretically, they could move our match to a Monday night, as we're the only Prem team that can play on that day. Unless they choose a match with all EFL teams like Leeds v Harrogate for the Monday slot. Hopefully they'll consider the Swansea fans and pick a suitable weekend slot.
  6. S4C usually pick a game, the options are us v Swansea or Cardiff's game at Sheffield United, so it is possible the game gets moved for TV, just for anyone watching you'll have to watch it in Welsh
  7. Good chance of us getting the skates in Round 4 then
  8. The skates at home. If not, a lower league team away.
  9. Whilst the performances against Liverpool and Brighton have been better, given the players unavailable this seems like a tough ask. Having said that, I remember there have been games previously where it was makeshift and we ended up winning, so who knows, maybe by accident we stumble across a winning formula.
  10. We literally turned it around last season...
  11. The games are coming thick and fast now, can we finally get our first point away from home? Probably not. Away from home this season we've been particularly dreadful and I can't see how we get anything from this game. If it's a particularly bad defeat, can see the crowd finally turn vocally in large numbers against RM. Won't be a good look for SR, live to the entire nation. Clutching at straws but RM is from Brighton and so no doubt would love to manage them one day, so who knows maybe we're in for a surprise.
  12. https://www.redandwhitekop.com/forum/index.php?topic=356878.0 Just seen this. A respectful opening post about us
  13. We've probably already reached the point where sacking RM would be pointless because nobody better would want to come in.
  14. That and whatever train disruption occurs because of this storm. It's going to be wet and windy in any case. Might suit us, who knows.
  15. Why does everyone keep banging on about ABK? A) he's not that great and b) he doesn't want to play for us, move on.
  16. Disagree RE Alcaraz. He was OK, but often went missing in games. Selling him in and bringing in Fernandes was definitely the right decision.
  17. Sheffield United got thrashed 8-0 by Newcastle, Arsenal 5-0, Burnley (!) 5-0 , Aston Villa 5-0, Brighton 5-0, Arsenal 6-0 and Newcastle 5-1. We're not as bad as them, I know we lost 5-0 twice last season but we've not looked as bad as some of those displays above (yet).
  18. At least it's McCarthy coming in and not Bazunu. I know he's not great but he can at least make a few saves. Hopefully Martin will be a bit more pragmatic and we'll be forced to kick it long. May not be a bad thing against high-pressing teams we're coming up against.
  19. We're obviously not going to sack him then. The board though must be aware the fans' patience is wearing thin.
  20. We need to change to a counter attacking style, it's obvious to everyone how we play is doomed.
  21. Maybe they feel we're likely to lose most of the next few games anyway so will stick it out until after then. Hopefully we get a result against Liverpool but if we do lose, it needs to be a thrashing. A narrow 1-0 loss will be acceptable in the eyes of the board.
  22. The set up away from home is all wrong. We've lost every game and we've put in the exact same performance against Brentford, Bournemouth and Wolves. Ironically, the games where we've looked OK away were Newcastle, Arsenal (for the first 60 mins) and Man City where we were a bit more defensive. It's pretty obvious that we need to change tactically but the manager can't see it, despite the shocking results.
  23. I've got a Football Manager save going atm where Southampton's manager for a few years (I'm in the 2030s) has been David Wagner and he's taken them to multiple top 4 finishes and Europa League glory. In real life, given he was shit with Norwich last season, I'd say no, but maybe the computer knows best
  24. Exactly. They got Martin right last season as we did get promoted but this next managerial appointment has to be right. Don't go too clever, either get someone like Moyes or someone from Europe. If it's someone like Mark Robins I will give up.
  25. Makes zero sense, we were amazing at home last season for the most part.
