  1. I agree. They're all small clubs with small mentalities whose only aim is to survive. Leeds and Newcastle would make the Premier League much more interesting.
  2. Brighton would be fun, we've got more of a rivalry with them then we do with Bournemouth. And they have a more intense rivalry with Palace so at least their fans wouldn't obsess about us. I really would like Leeds to go up. There are some dreadful teams with dreadful fans in this division - Hull, for example. The games against Leeds generally created a great atmosphere at SMS, and I like their passionate fans.
  3. Not arrogance at all- just realistic. The relegation battle was always between the current bottom 6 teams - there is not a chance anyone from Bournemouth upwards will be going down. I'd be saying that even if we had lost.
  4. If Man Utd win their FA Cup tie, then the game will be moved.
  5. https://www.readytogo.net/smb/threads/safc-v-saints.1329845/page-1 Matchthread from a Sunderland perspective
  6. I didn't read it, but the replies afterwards sum it all up.
  7. From my experiences, Man Utd fans are alright. There are far more irritating fan bases - West Ham is right up there
  8. Having a read on the #pompey twitter timeline. Looks like Naismith was booed when he came on as a sub, despite their fans NEVER ever abusing their own players. Meanwhile, I wonder if this is and his personal drink stash?
  9. I think the best approach is to sit deep and be patient. They play three times before the final so hopefully, we will be fresher and in the second half that can show as they start to tire.
  10. There's no point in debating/arguing when the poster is so deluded. Hence why, in my opinion, he is trolling. As for the last line - Rodriguez has had a run in the team. And on many occasions, he hasn't performed. Tottenham won't come sniffing at all for him, he isn't good enough. I do hope he turns it around. He has shown glimpses of his former self but not consistently.
  11. I remember going up to Wembley on the M3 in 2010. Each bridge packed with people waving us on, cars packed with red and white scarves hanging out of the windows. Tube in London packed with Saints fans.
  12. That last line confirms he's trolling. Hopefully nobody will bite.
  13. They have a habit of celebrating plucky draws. Tinpot.
  14. Alpine did, to his credit. However, after the unwarranted abuse I got last weekend, I have every right to call out the hypocrisy. Anyway, I won't post any more about it, because you are right, I will just enjoy the win
  15. That's our first win on a Saturday this season
  16. Leicester 0-4 Southampton 8th December 2001 Anders Svensson 2 goals, Pahars and Beattie with 1 each
  17. Credit to Puel - he had a full 7 days to work with the players and it paid off. Man Utd will obviously be a tougher ask for us. But they have 3 games before the Wembley game, which has to play in our hands.
  18. How long before the first comment of 'we're papering over the cracks' ?
  19. Will batman and Alpine front up and admit they were wrong?
  20. Gabbiadini without a doubt. He's exactly what we've been missing. Bertrand, Tadic and Romeu too. Defoe is still in Stephens's pocket.
  21. Nah, I said 5-0 I think
  22. Sunderland forum was very confident as well. Reminds me of the fake hope we had in our relegation era.
  23. This is Tadic's best game for a while. He's played himself into the cup final. Would like Redmond to do a bit more, although we've largely been attacking down the left hand side.
  24. How long before someone says it's 'papering over the cracks' ? For the first few minutes, we were woeful. Then we got on the ball a bit more, got the goal and have looked comfortable ever since. Clean sheet is vital now. At least that second goal takes a bit of the pressure off the defence, but hopefully we push for a third and kill this game off.
  25. We're going down with Puel
