Hopefully the defence will stay the same, I think if changes do come, it will be in midfield. The team won't need to work quite as hard anyway, Burnley will happily allow us to keep the ball like we were happy to do to Liverpool. I am optimistic, although realistically I do expect Liverpool to win over the two legs.

One positive is that I'd rather lose at this stage then lose at Wembley... It would be typical Saints for us to do the hard work, beat Liverpool over two legs... and then lose to Hull in the final.

Obviously Fonte and his agent have been playing games, presumably in an effort to either get more money from the club or get a move to a top 6 club. Unfortunately for him, it has spectacularly backfired, and there doesn't seem to be much interest from any big clubs. So this is how I see the different options that Fonte is left with. If he hasn't burnt all of his bridges yet, and the contract(s) we offered him are still on the table, then perhaps he might decide he'd be better off staying here. However, it would appear both the player and the club have decided that his future lies away from Southampton. So that leaves: Palace, who are desperate for new signings and would probably match his demands. Portugal, and a return to his 'spiritual home' (let's home that phrase doesn't get uttered in the press release ! ) China, for one last mega payday.

My personal opinion, having watched the games, is that he has gone missing and hasn't had much of an influence in those games.

He contributed nothing to their team's performance. He's always gone missing. It'll be interesting to see on Wednesday if he finally shows up. Law of averages and his recent form suggests he probably will, but let's hope not.

Every single time he has come back, Lallana has completely bottled it. He hates the abuse he gets. And remember when Lovren had to be taken off at half time because of the abuse and we scored three second half goals to win?
