  1. There is no way we would sign Gregoire Puel. Having physically seen Le Havre play, it was comfortably the worst standard of football I have ever seen. (their stadium, however, is very nice and they play God Save The Queen before every game)
  2. In my mind, the number one priority is a number 10 player. It was the one thing we lacked last season.
  3. Crabb has some rather 'interesting' views on gay people. It has to be Theresa May, she is the only credible candidate.
  4. The messages from the French media seem very positive. Of course, it's too early to judge either way but I think Les Reed and the black box may have pulled a rabbit out of the hat. I also hope that, unlike his predecessor, the academy lads are, at the very least, given a chance. If they're no good, they're no good but it seems like they were written off before kicking a ball. Let's hope Puel is more favourable to the Southampton Way.
  5. Good find. Plancque seems to be an excellent choice.
  6. Well at least we know he speaks English although it's a bit broken. Probably a good idea to get Eric Black in whilst Puel improves his English.
  7. Absolutely gutted that they didn't choose Guy Mengual This is Pascal Plancque It's pronounced roughly PLONK
  8. When we qualify for the Champions League, there will be some classic posts from this thread to dig up again
  9. Same guy on Twitter who originally said that Eric Black was joining.
  10. http://www.francefootball.fr/news/Mercato-claude-puel-est-a-southampton/700958
  11. You of all people can hardly accuse anyone of attention seeking
  12. http://www.destentor.nl/regio/dalfsen/nieuwleusen-vreest-britse-fans-bij-pec-southampton-1.6150326 Can any of our resident dutchies translate? From Google translate, it seems like one Dutch mayor wants to ban Saints fans from attending.
  13. Is it Guy Mengual?
  14. My opinion of Rupert Lowe has just gone up. Only very slightly though.
  15. 3 of the games today were draws, and St Patrick's won their match 1-0, so no team with an unassailable lead yet.
  16. Meanwhile, behind the war memorial in Portsmouth is this lovely bit of graffiti
  17. Walsall weren't that far off promotion. They seem like a well run club so I think this is a mutually beneficial deal for both parties.
  18. These appear to be all Republicans making these comments, when it's looking increasingly likely that a Democrat will be the President.
  19. On the other, if he does well and leaves, our reputation will be enhanced and we will get someone in who is equally as good or better.
  20. The same guy on Twitter says that Eric Black (Aston Villa assistant) is coming to replace him. Supposedly.
  21. Confirmation: my American Saints-supporting friend (who has had the misfortune of visiting Portsmouth) has never heard of them.
  22. The first matches are today 3 games at 5pm and one at 7.45pm. In terms of our seeding, the only team playing in the First Qualifying Round that has a higher co-efficient than us is Maccabi Tel Aviv, so ideally we'd like them to get knocked out (and any other teams with a higher co-efficient) to ensure we are in the highest pot possible in the group stages. Some matches to look out for: St Patrick's Athletic v Jeunesse Esch (play Tuesday) Play on Thursday Midtjylland v Sūduva Marijampolė Hearts v Infonet Tallinn Connah's Quay Nomads v Stabæk Linfield v Cork City IFK Göteborg v Llandudno KR v Glenavon Shamrock Rovers v RoPS Aberdeen v Fola Esch AIK v Bala Town Differdange 03 v Cliftonville
