  1. Exciting. Champions League here we come?
  2. Generally speaking, our recruitment of cast-offs from elite clubs has worked out well for us - Romeu, Bertrand, Hojbjerg, Alderweireld come to mind. Lemina worked out badly but that wasn't down to ability, that was his attitude. He could have been a top player if he wanted to. A shame for him and for us really.
  3. Interestingly, unless we get a home draw in the League Cup, the game against Brentford will be our 500th competitive game at St Mary's.
  4. Things hotting up with Svanberg according to Italian media
  5. Wouldn't we be talking to his agent anyway rather than him directly?
  6. I'll allow you that one
  7. Absolutely yes to Ings coming back. As a striker he fits what Ralph wants to do perfectly. I suppose you could say though that if we're willing to fork out for him than we'd be better off going for Broja, so we'll see. I've said this before and I'll say it again, I would be incredibly disappointed if we sell JWP to anyone other than a Champions League team. That would show me the club has no ambition. My own gut feeling is that he'll stay. He's too important for us IMO.
  8. Well if that's the case then can see why we brought him in. Although I'd also like us to see us sign some better defenders anyway...
  9. I don't really blame him for that era, that's all down to Rupert Lowe.
  10. Don't have a problem with Long staying tbh. As a back up, and that is what he is, it's not the worst option in the world.
  11. On the face of it, seems like a good appointment. Hopefully he'll bring some fresh ideas to the group. Maybe he'll turn Redmond into Mane finally, or Long into a goalscorer
  12. Minamino would be a fantastic signing for us. £17M would be a good deal, didn't we sign Elyounoussi and Djenepo for only a little less than that?
  13. Frees up wages for someone far better. Lots of bed wetting amongst Saints fans on Twitter, bizarrely.
  14. Presumably Ukraine needed a British type leader in their squad, that's why they lost
  15. Sorry to go back to the Ligue 2 debate, but as a standard, it is appalling. Le Havre as a club are known for having a very good academy, a bit like us, which is why anyone remotely decent like Mahrez gets snapped up pretty quickly. I fail to believe that they don't have a better young goalkeeper we could sign instead of a 25 year old Polish goalkeeper.
  16. I know the police are saying drug use is becoming a bigger issue at football matches. Don't know if it's related or if those who have been arrested for hitting footballers were under the influence in some way
  17. For those alive at the time of Heysel, was there a lot of anger towards Liverpool in this country for the subsequent ban on English clubs? Or was the anger more directed towards UEFA?

  19. In a minority here but I liked Salisu's throw ins. We definitely did create some good chances from them. Am I right in saying JWP's goal against Spurs came from it?
  20. The correct decision. Things simply have to change, and I back Ralph to be the one to lead our revival. Next up, a cull of the playing squad please. If he is backed in the transfer window and we bring in coaches, I assume Ralph will have a say in who they are, I believe we will improve. However, my view if there is no improvement or sign of improvement by the time we break for the World Cup, I think Ralph's position will be untenable.
  21. It's The Sun.
  22. I would be angry if we sell him to West Ham. A Champions League team I could just about accept, reluctantly.
