  1. Feel free to merge into other Boruc thread in time, but wanted to flag this up. Being reported in Poland that Artur has been called up for the Poland squad to face Ireland.
  2. Summary: "Mauricio do you want to talk in English?" MP: "I understand English, but I still need to work on my vocabulary and confidence. Okay, lets talk in Spanish." - Haven't had a lot of time to settle yet - Very grateful for the attitude of players and staff, they are a family here at Southampton - Thank you for the welcome of the fans - Been working round the clock for 3 days - I really liked what I saw, a very strong first half - Exactly what I am looking for in the future - Perhaps our hard work first half without reward caught up with us second half - Generally speaking, it was a good performance - At the moment me and Jesus share the technical area, he speaks good English - Sometimes football is more about gestures - What attracted me was the structure when I spoke to the club - I want to work with young players and Southampton have the youngest squad and have a great academy - I like to work with all the coaches in youth system - I will look at La Liga for acquisitions, but first I will look to the academy - Spain is a market I have a lot of knowledge of and it has a lot of rich talent - Our aim is to consolidate our position and finish as high as possible - We need to build more solid foundations in the future for the club
  3. "There's only one Nigel Adkins!" flag confiscated by stewards....
  4. Pochettino's first programme notes: "There have been offers for me to coach elsewhere, I am in no doubt I've made the right choice as Southampton is an attractive proposition for anyone in world football right now. There are high expectations, it does not scare me, it thrills me, I'm looking forward to pushing Southampton on world stage. Disfrutar del juego."
  5. Adkins was Reed's appointment. Adkins said when he came in he knew Les very well. Les was banging the drum for NA during the selection process.

  10. Adkins left a message for our players as he took his belongings and left - from Staplewood:
  11. Starting at 6pm. With Benali, Merrington and Adam Leitch. Listen here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/player/bbc_radio_solent
  12. Seeing as I cannot shake his hand, I may write him a letter. Where could I send it to? LMA?
  13. Came across this online... courtesy of FourFourTwo Magazine.
  14. Maya just had a little feature on his career so far, shown on SS1 as part of the 'Premier League World' programme. Here's a run-down of Maya's words... "I would love to score, and celebrate together with our fans. So I hope you can all be patient with me, so that we can!" "Adkins is a VERY nice guy. It's probably the first time I have worked with such a positive person in my life." "What is so great about Nigel Adkins is, I have never ever felt down. The main reason we are so confident and have kept going is the way he is." "I have mixed feelings about the Olympics, due to the end result. But I showed my worth, and ultimately this helped me get to Southampton. So it was successful for me." "Hopefully Kagawa's success makes it easier for more Japanese, with the luck of Shinji and my own performances I hope that we can impress and create opportunities for the future of Japanese football."
  15. COYR!!! And Forren was at the game too...

  18. Posted by "toko" on not606.com.... "Ha, I think I kind of know what you mean: seeing all those people dissing the "wacko fatass lazy smoking drunktard" and spending months debating their grave goalkeeping problem which will surely send their team down, not knowing the solution was always right in front of them, sitting on the bench- priceless Beddytare, Chilco, that's nice you liked my post, I may occasionaly keep you informed about Boruc as I pressue he'll now be in the center of attention For example, a newspaper "Przeglad Sportowy" had an interview with Bartosz Białkowski, who befriended Kelvin Davis during his time at Southampton. Białkowski claims Kelvin is full aware why he had lost his place between the posts. [According to Bialkowski, Kelvin says that] By watching Artur during the training, you can clearly see why this guy was once an absolute top goalie, mentioned amongst the best in the world. He clears shots most other keepers wouldn't even attempt to try to stop. He has astounding power in his legs and incredible agility. Białkowski is also full of praise for Adkins: He's an incredible person. One of the most optimistic people I've met. Intelligent, very well-versed, great at talking to players, he's at their call even in the middle of the night. He's not so positive about the Saint's defenders, though: All the time everyone keeps talking about the keepers yet noone seems to notice the level of the defense line. In the match with Chelsea it looked as though the defenders never even made it to the stadium!"
