  1. Oh, wow. Everyone has actually ignored the real motivations and events behind this story, as posted by me in order to bang on against each other with their pet idealologies. What a bloody surprise....
  2. Its the football equivalent of an ice-hockey team going "empty net" in the last couple of minutes of a game..
  3. To win that Eurofighter contract, primarily. And now this week they've awarded exclusive negotiation rights to Dassault for the Rafale. So I expect one of two things to happen : 1. Our overseas aid budget will be slashed to the tune of the Indian contribution 2. we re-bid for the Indian fighter requirement by the back door by an amount similar to the overseas aid amount Apparently the whole marketing/bidding process from the Eurofighter side was a complete f**k up. The Germans wanted to be the main partner, and bizarrely despite the strong historical connection between the RAF and the Indian Air Force we let them do it. They totally screwed up the first stages (a load of arrogant German air force types turned up in India and either couldnt explain stuff and/or patronised the Indian officals) and BAE had to step into the marketing exercise for the Eurofighter to sort things out. Apparently Indian officals are saying the Eurofighter isnt out of the competition yet, and Dassault have a history of screwing up the last stages of the negotiations. Loads of nations, including the likes of Switzerland and Brazil, have turned their back on the Rafale at the 11th hour. Having said that, the UK and German government dragging their feet on approving the late Tranche improvements in radar and weapons carrying capacity for the Eurofighter apparently is not impressing the Indians. Sorry, seems like a bit of a tangent I know, but it is the relevant background story.
  4. Fair enough, but your choice of words make it sound like it was a low point, ergo, it has improved.
  5. Forecast cant have much longer to go on his gravy-train contract, though. Reading the background to the Forecast/Webster story, I wonder if anyone on here wants to still maintain that Lowe wasnt a complete and utter nightmare for our club.
  6. Well if they dont normally play like that, there is nothing stopping the other 17 teams we've got to play doing the same. Your comment paints only half the picture. We are supposed to have more quality about us than them by a long way, and should have been able to adapt to their tactics and let our quality shine through to win the day. I can understand Leicester managing what they did, they have the quality. Whatever you way you portray it, the two games against BC represent low points of the season (well, along with Doncaster maybe, but they were making good loan moves at the time) that may come back to bite us on the ass.
  7. That era ? How has it improved now, exactly ?
  8. Your anaylsis paints a potentially positive picture. However, it doesnt address the fact that sh*t like Bristol City did the double over us. I really fear we are going to look back at those two games with regret..
  9. Succinct.
  10. Hell hath no fury.... In fairness, I dont think we can blame her for being furious to the point of loss of rationality. He exploited his family values for his election campaign, all the time he was knobbing a 6ft lantern-jawed lezza behind their back.
  11. I've just had to dig and wrestle my 3 out of a 4ft snowdrift for their lunch, so cant reassure you, I'm afraid..
  12. This. Most definitely. The problems with Puncheon started when AO-C was in blistering form and kept him out of the team. Suppose the answer from the players view is to consistently deliver top-drawer performances so that he stays first choice for RM.
  13. Well, so the official story goes. Maybe its a secret plan to allow Ray to get Sebastian..............
  14. Well, Dauntless is a step function in capability compared to a Type 23, and it doesnt harm to point that out to the Argies. Also you can bet your bottom dollar there is an additional flight of Typhoons put on rotation out of Ascension Island now.
  15. Well, I know that on TV I had trouble seeing the ball; the winter-weather ball is not particularly "orange", is it ?
  16. Trafalgar-class hunter-killer armed with Tomahawks on the way to the Falkands, along with HMS Dauntless. Clearly telling the Argies not to f**k with us. Hillarious reading them bleating about us making the dispute "aggressive" and "militaristic"...
  17. Yes, it does deserve a separate thread and not be part of "post match reaction" because it is endemic to every game at the moment, not just this specific match.
  18. and of course you'd feel exactly the same if he were a Tory, wouldnt you ?
  19. Replays showed he got the ball first, but the first touch from Fox that knocked the ball away from him to the Brum player was horrendous and imho symptomatic of his game today.
  20. I sympathise with this opinion.
  21. The opposition arent always going to present us with empty nets on the 6-yrd line...
  22. What, that NA prefers Morgan ? I dont need that explaining, thanks. I just dont agree with it.
  23. So you arent happy with the point ? And people call me demanding.
