Question for the Positive-Thinkers after the Walsall result

Everybody needs to remember that this was "the season of NO excuses" -
You are asking the wrong person; I completely agree with you. If we cannot make the most of the advantage we have with a full squad, WTF are we going to do with a Russian bread queue for the treatment table ?

Question for the Positive-Thinkers after the Walsall result
alpine_saint replied to alpine_saint's topic in The Saints
All the more strength to the argument I've made. Bournemouth have done a superb job over the season, considering their resources AND their change of manager (which hasnt disrupted them the way ours apparently has. They just got on with it...) -
What goes around comes around. If people werent so abusive towards those who dare to question/criticise the team situation and its performances, maybe the dissidents among us would not bash them over the head when the worst happens. I dont think you quite realise just how abusive this site is. I think its only human nature to point out when something occurs with the club that what we said was not far away from the truth and therefore the level of abuse was unjustified.

Who are you and what have you done with Turkish ? It cant be the real Turkish because a pattern of me agreeing with him is emerging. -

Which goes to show that paper's most useful role is wiping your arse.... -
Worthwhile having a read and giggle over this : http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?27411-This-squad-is-good-enough-for-promotion&highlight=squad+strong

Yep, looking at the way the team play and the ever-mounting injury list (which I warned about the danger of a month ago when the happy-clappers sermonised about the squad being strong enough already) we will be luck to hold on to a play-off place this season.

The situation is only going to get worse over the next month. The injury list is as long as my arm...

Question for the Positive-Thinkers after the Walsall result

So now you are saying that result has nothing to do with assessing performance. Mental. What about all the games since Oldham ? -
Question for the Positive-Thinkers after the Walsall result

The fact that the team are playing exceptionally badly. -
A game which will leave our 2nd place aspirations in tatters, considering the other games on Saturday. Lose.

Fine by me. Then let's stop trying to dismiss Walsall's victory against us as a freak result and try to understand what this really means about the situation at SFC. -

I dont think it is illogical at all. Whichever team produces the goods over the season will get second place. Currently that is Bournemouth. Whichever team produced the goods over the game, won the game. That was Walsall. The point of my OP is that "bad luck", "mugging" and "deserving" are all emotive words of absolutely no relevancy. Who wins (and who gets promoted) is all about putting that white round thing between the two upright white things, and Walsall did it and Bournemouth are doing it. That is why us "wrist slitters" dont give a flying f**k about the amount of "chances created". -
You've spoken about the "bad luck" and the "chances created" against Walsall, and how we deserved to win and were "mugged". Dont Bournemouth actually deserve second place, and wouldnt we be "mugging" them if we were to snatch it from them in the last couple of weeks of the season, seeing as they have been there for months ? I think there is some double-standards in your thinking.

Oh come on. That old chestnut is paper thin and you know it. The same 4 teams have topped the PL for a decade due to the very predicatbility of the game over a season. We have the best squad by a long, long, long way in this division. If they are not in the expected position in the table and form-wise, the cause is elsewhere, such as the manager. Last nights defeat was a sympton of a greater affliction blighting this club.

Name one poster who has demanded the removal of Nigel Adkins.

Why is this thread ridiculous ? Why should this thread be closed ? We have a CEO who has a very challegning 5 year plan and is therefore very results-oriented. If you all think that a frisson of doubt isnt already going through NCs head, you are very naiive. It IS too early to be having this discussion. But if we fall out of the top 6 AND waste our games-in-hand, I fully expect NC to start drawing up short-lists.

This. I find it bizarre that the happy-clappys try to tell us what we should think and how we should react. -

The usual pot-pourri of excuses. But hey, I would be trying to find the silver lining in this particularly black cloud if I had spent a bucket load of money go to watch the beginning of the end of our promotion hopes too. -

Yeah, but that's not to say my negativity is forced. I genuniely still think teams can get back into the game against us even if we are 4-0 up. -

Now you know where I am coming from. By being so negative, most of the time the team cannot do anything to really deeply f**k me off and shatter my illusions. Most of the time, anyway. I have to say that today was an extra special effort from them.
