  1. If Lampard, Drogba, Fabregas or Torres suffered a season-ending injury at this stage, their respective clubs would go out and pay big money for someone.
  2. If we are attractive to a new owner, why arent we still attractive to the Liebherr family ? Especially as they got us cheaper than a new owner will. This is a total non sequitur to me
  3. They dont seem afraid to make the tough decisions which are needed, so my opinion is generally positive.
  4. If members of his family do come over today, that's really nice of them to make the effort. I hope they go away realising how grateful we are for his intervention last summer.
  5. And they were the ones who started the "money buys success" obsession.
  6. There is so much wrong with this post it is difficult to know where to start. Oh, lets try this one : The armed forces are there to protect our citizens as much as our land. 67 British citizens died in 9/11 (and 50-odd in 7/7), and the place the perpetrators were given shelter to was Afghanistan. Can you say that other 9/11s and other huge casualties to our population have NOT been prevented by our presence there ? I say give them free tickets, and a f**king free beer while we're at it. And it is my right to say so, under the democracy they they have defended and upheld.
  7. Must have imagined the signing of Fonte.... sorry, I dont buy that low-ambition defeatist sentiment. If we are supposed to buy the "we are going places" mantra, why cant it be sold to the players ?
  8. Blackburn to be taken over and new owner offering 100million transfer kitty. Unfair.
  9. This.
  10. Apparently AP did not exercise an option to sign Papa. Note that he only referrs to Antonio in his comments about ongoing transfer activity. There are also rumours that Papa wasnt exactly enamoured of AP. Anyway, this is digressing a bit and I dont want to attack the manager or club.
  11. Which war did you march against ? I saw the picture of that girl on the front of Time magazine last month and rediscovered my moral compass.
  12. AP said we were building for the championship - loans are not the answer.
  13. I like "Glory Glory..." and "Win It For Markus", but I also think "Markus Liebherr's Red and White Army" works too.
  14. The simple fact of the matter is, that 5million quid will do a lot of good for ex-servicemen. But yes, that money-grabbing troll he is married to is probably quite narked. The fact is, that people join the forces knowing they will be used as a tool of UK domestic and foregin policy. They take the Queens shilling, and therefore must live (and die) with the consequences. This is different from the Military Covenant; the ZaNuLabour goverment has acted disgracefully in upholding that. When we look back at the legality of the wars, Afghanistan was perfectly legal, backed by UN mandate. The Taliban are an odious buch who were sheltering wanted terrorists (as well as allowing them to train there). Iraq does appear to have been illegal and oil-driven. The David Kelly issue I can barely believe of a UK government; if ever re-opened and prosecuted, I hope whoever responsible has real problems with slippy soap at shower time in one of Her Majesty lesser places of residence.
  15. I really cannot imagine that Markus was dipping his hand in his pocket and opening his wallet every time we signed a player, so I cannot imagine that any probate issue will prevent us signing players. As for your comment about AP's strategy, its a trickie. I personally do not like such games, as my natural impatience over the summer here as demonstrated; I prefer to live for today. However, I assume that the doctors were unable to give an accurate prediction of Markus's death, so to blame him is a bit unfair. The fact remains, it could cost us promotion.
  16. Are the club expecting members of Markus's family to attend ?
  17. Exactly what is your major malfunction ?
  18. Before I make my point, I want to point out this is not a "slagging off" thread. The sad untimely death of Markus has clearly had an impact on the operations side of the club over the last week or so; attention has rightly been focused on more important, more worldly things. However, once the club has said its proper goodbye to its saviour tomorrow, the fact remains we are less than 2 weeks away from the end of the window. Yes, the possibility will remain for loans after that, but as the experience from Papa and Antonio shows, they are not the way to go about building a squad competitive for promotion and beyond. Are we expecting a few announcements that have been postponed due to decorum and decency, or are we still searching for the right players to plug our gaps ? Personally, I fear the latter; just today AP is saying in the Echo that A O-C will "hopefully" get some competition, but it doesnt sound very certain. (I know this quote is probably old and copied from elsewhere)
  19. Sorry, I dont see that your description is any different from British "yoof" in general in 2010. Even the trash getting into universitys nowadays under ZaNuLabours policy of 50% in higher education is p*ssing over war memorials. In addition, some of the servicemen have actually learnt a decent trade (electrical, electronic, radio operator, accounting, etc.), so in many respects are almost model citizens compared to the Shameless generation of general populace.
  20. So far as in the whole pre-season and the first two games.
  21. Weird.
  22. You are the cheerleader.
  23. Yep, it is extremely worrying seeing sections of our fan base getting comfy with the idea of a defeat.
  24. Dude, most of us value immensely the job you people do. Unfortunately, idiots are everywhere....
  25. hehehehehehehehe. Funniest post on here -ever.
