  1. We offered Ings what was reasonable. In fact I’d go so far as to say generous, for a frequently injured 29 year old, who’d just scored 12 goals. If we’d caved in and offered him something whopping, every other player we ever tried to sign from now on would be demanding something proportionate to that. I honestly don’t get this kind of criticism. After January everyone was bemoaning our total lack of respectable cover at fullback. We go out and sign someone who is not only ‘cover’ but the best RB we’ve had at the club for decades - For £5m - and people complain. I’m astonished. I honestly think if we’d signed another Pied or Martina for the same money, people would be more satisfied, because then he’d just be ‘cover’. Because he’s actually good enough to put KWP on the bench, people are genuinely annoyed that we’ve wasted £5m on someone too good. I’m baffled.
  2. City are unbelievably good. A pleasure to watch.
  3. I thought we set up well and had a decent game plan. Those glaring misses by Redmond, Walcott and then Liv hitting the post, coupled with Bednarek having his standard lapse for the equaliser were the difference between a draw and comfortable win. Four points from two games isn’t the most upsetting return we’ve ever had.
  4. No, we were pants.
  5. You have got to be kidding me.
  6. Correct. Nobody is entitled to any specific job, it’s earned by meeting the requirements specified in the description. That can be qualifications, experience and/or something else. Personally, I’d treat anti-vaxxers but I’d ‘defer’ their treatment until after all other outpatient care is caught up with and staff have had a break. If that takes six months, we’ll that’s a shame, isn’t it.
  7. Seriously? We signed Jos Hooiveld, not Robinho. When we took the squad Adkins got promoted, added Ramirez, Yoshida, Davis, Jay Rod, Wanyama, Lovren, Boruc, Shaw, Clyne and gave it to the current manager of PSG, it finished 8th. This is not like that time Juventus got relegated to Serie C
  8. Correct. It makes me wonder how thick Man City’s owners are, wasting all that money on Pep Guardiola. Don’t they realise with all their resources they should just win the league anyway, regardless of who’s in charge.
  9. O and R1 together. X to raise a clenched fist.
  10. Sometimes it’s just the right man, for the right job, at the right time. Clearly we recruited very well, bringing in the right man, who did everything we could reasonably have asked of him. I have no time for people who demand that he should have won League 1 and the Championship. George Burley showed that you can’t just throw money at a squad and expect results and Nigel beat two much better financed teams in West Ham and Leicester. If you want to talk about the money spent then fine, we should have beat Reading and finished third behind those two.
  11. Surely not?!
  12. Because the vast majority of people use shops whereas only 2,000 are packed into the Guildhall.
  13. Because he was 33 and we needed to balance the games with everyone else and rotate the squad.
  14. https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/58775879 The least mutual or consenting thing that’s ever happened.
  15. Because I believe it’s our strongest possible team, regardless of who played well against an awful Leeds team.
  16. Back to back ‘winnable’ home games. Another win would really move us away from the relegation fight and towards the comfort of mid-table obscurity. I’d probably bring the Armstrongs in for Moi and Redmond.
  17. Villa. 🤣
  18. You’re right, we should all be miserable. F**king Ralph!! He should have demanded Leeds signed some better players on a free last night.
  19. Finally! Well done boys.
  20. Very bizarre story this, Man Utd are flying to their game at Leicester, presumably to East Midlands airport which is northwest of Leicester anyway. Apparently it’s to avoid potential traffic on the M6. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/58938198
  21. Had a dream last night that we lost 8-0 and I was genuinely p*ssed off that we couldn’t even do a 0-9 properly any more. Then again we were playing Ipswich away, so it may not have been an accurate premonition.
  22. I think he was talking about a poster.
  23. Actually it’s not an offshoot, although it was removed from the main board fairly promptly. I didn’t lock it because TBH I consider this place to be a fascinating social experiment. Compared to a ‘Merry Xmas’ thread which descended into the God squad and the atheists arguing about whether ducks rape each other, this is relatively benign.
  24. It's so sad seeing the pair of them carrying on like that. If anything Lambert is worse, his rantings seem somewhat unhinged and shouty. Honestly, if I find out Marian Pahars is an anti-vaxxer I'm going to go and support Swindon or something.
