Looked like 3-4-3 for me, for the most part. I'd say Aribo looked decent in his cameo, Djenepo was okay-ish at wing back and it was good to see Perraud back and in a role which suits him. Diallo also looked decent at times I thought. A few players lacking a little sharpness but generally decent overall.

All this talk of hatred aimed at players is almost entirely just internet stuff that I doubt they themselves even read, let alone cared about. In the whole time I’ve been going to saints matches I’ve seen very little abuse aimed at someone actually playing in a Saints shirt. A few groans when they do something sh*t, for sure but hardly anything I’d call actual abuse. Puncheon got a bit in League 1 but even he admitted a few years later that his own attitude was way off. Kelvin got some stick at Wednesday one year, having just let in five and there was the whole Boruc/water bottle incident.

My point is basically that there’s no such thing as ‘his team’ only players we can afford with our extremely limited (by PL standards) budget. Ralph supposedly chose those players whilst Pep was choosing Haaland, Grealish and Mahrez. Do you think that’s simply because Ralph doesn’t know which of those is better?

Why? Many of the clubs around us have had much more disappointing or indifferent summers so far. We look stronger in several positions, we just need a replacement for Broja.

Out of interest, why do you think Ralph insisted on Armstrong, Lyanco and Djenepo, out of all the footballers in the world?
