It’s not irrelevant as it proved it can be done. It’s not pretty and I’d certainly like more goals from the team but it’s not "pretty clear" we can’t stay in the league.
-
We’ve stayed in this league with our top scorer being an unfit Charlie Austin, scoring 6 goals; so no, that’s not becoming pretty clear at all.

cUnacceptable inconsistency and appalling standard of referees
Lighthouse replied to cambsaint's topic in The Saints
You might say the refs are a bunch of unts. -
Didn’t he weirdly get fit on the way back through the Championship and play a reasonable number of games? He’s the almost completely forgotten man of that season but I’m sure he scored in a 4-0 or 4-1 against someone. Might have been Derby when Tadanari Lee scored a belter.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-merseyside-58790840 IF she is found guilty, do we stop going to hospital when we’re ill because we don’t trust nurses?

Tadic was a different class to Lallana.

I’m going with the best performances I saw live at St Mary’s. So whilst I did see Bale, for e.g., one season as a championship LB doesn’t qualify for my team. Niemi Liv - VvD - Toby - Bertrand Oakley - Wanyama Mané - Davis - Tadic Pellè
-
And Tella, giving 5 players competing for two spots. More than enough.

Text from a Leicester mate, "okay, seriously it’s not funny any more."

I do wonder how many of those buying petrol today have 3/4 of a tank and a couple of fully Jerry cans at home.

Worse than that, he did bird for killing someone whilst flicking through his iPod, I believe it was.

I watch Saints in the hope of being entertained by games of football, with a vested interest in my local club. If results tables and rankings are what excite you, I would suggest you need to follow a different team.

Yes we do. He played 90 minutes against West Ham, 79 against United and 83 against Everton. Plus a token appearance at City.

The bare minimum would be staying up on G.D. On the last day of the season. The last three seasons we’ve finished: 15th - 15 points clear of relegation 11th - 18 points clear of relegation 16th - 5 points clear of relegation That’s comparable to any sustained period under Strachan, Sturrock, Hoddle, Jones, Souness and co. Derby are a club our size and look what an absolute state they are. I’m sure they’d kill for the ‘bare minimum’ that we’ve achieved.

The United Kingdom and the Death of Boris Johnson as we know it.
Lighthouse replied to CB Fry's topic in The Lounge
I couldn’t pretend that was true if you put a gun to my head. It just isn’t. To believe that, you’re clearly on the left side of society, which is fine, but you have accept that’s where you are. You speak as if you’re some sort of moderate centrist and the majority of the country is right wing. -
Yeah but we do though, don’t we.

There’re clearly enough left leaning media outlets (don’t forget the Indy) and I’m not sure how you’ve come to the conclusion that the Beeb is against the left. If they and the parties they support aren’t able to capture the imagination of the electorate then that’s on them. There’s more than enough ammunition to use against the Tories and plenty of weapons with which to fire it. If none of that resonates with the voters then that’s tough luck. -
The United Kingdom and the Death of Boris Johnson as we know it.
Lighthouse replied to CB Fry's topic in The Lounge
If you think Boris and Co. are getting an easy ride, that's a failure of the left wing press. When the leader of the opposition is getting into bizarre debates about whether men can have a cervix and a deputy who would rather throw petulant, playground insults than tap in the open goal of being more mature and eloquent than Boris, that's a failure of them. -
I think it's fair to say the weekend's sport went tits up.

It sounds like something you’d see an optician about.

Then you're going to have to be more specific about the precise level of anger you expect to be displayed. I'm afraid I don't know how you define, "digging each other out," and, "getting into Bednarek," and how that differs from shouting abuse. Does it work? Because they are human beings, they aren't infallible and they playing against some of the best players in the world. You criticise our players for not getting in the refs face, 'like other sides do' but disregard the fact that other team's players also make plenty of mistakes
-
Agreed, I often find that colleagues screaming abuse in my face if I make a mistake significantly improves my performance thereafter.

If we didn't sell him, our business would basically have been selling Vest and buying Perraud in summer. Then Ings would have left next summer and we'd be trying to replace our top goalscorer for free. Sounds like a much better recipe for relegation to me.
-
I wouldn’t. I’m surprised people are looking back at the second half of last season with rose tinted glasses quite so soon. A quality striker could have won the game yesterday but for medium sized chunks of last season, Ings was not that player and managed a somewhat okay 12 league goals. We aren’t weaker at LB, I’d say we have two better options, and you won’t find too many Leicester fans impressed by Vestergaard so far. At CM were talking about a fourth choice player of Jankewitz calibre, so hardly a massive loss to the squad. We did need to worry at RB, cover at fullback was an absolute necessity this summer. When KWP picks up a knock, I’ll sleep soundly knowing we don’t have to play Stephens at RB.

Would you swap everything back, if offered it?
