I saw one theorist a few years ago, who was peddling the whole, ‘jet fuel doesn’t melt steel beams’ line. All looks very plausible and scientific until you realise what he’d actually calculated, if his maths was right, was the amount of energy required to literally liquify the entire skyscraper on impact and send a tidal wave of molten steel flooding down Wall St.
