He was criticised for some poor performances early on in his time here, up until Christmas 2014 he didn’t come up to standard, even for Saints. It’s a bit of a SaintsWeb myth that Mané was some world class player that everyone hated. Up until his final ten games here, he looked nothing like the player he is for Liverpool.

I don’t think that statement actually applies to anyone.

We used to have a poster called SKD who insisted that San Marino were better managed than Saints, at the back end of last season. He got banned just before you registered, which is a shame really as I think you’d have had an interesting debate on this issue.

I can't say I've been to Reading and checked in the last year or so, so who knows; maybe he is right.

You can say that about any team, if we had Saints defence and were scoring 2/3 a game we’d be top of the league. I see no reason to think we’ll be in a relegation scrap come next spring. Right now we’re as close to 5th as we are to 18th.

He didn’t but I think SOGs point is a reasonable progression of that chain of thought. He hasn’t said anything unreasonable IMO.

It’s painful listening to Wheelchair trying to string a coherent sentence together.

Do you get annoyed when commentators call Rodrigues de Paula Santos ‘Fred’?

Great goal line save from Aubameyang there. 😆

I wanted to ignore that, based purely on the words in the hyperlink but against my better judgement I clicked on it. Im glad I did. The vaccine kills 15% of people and gives you AIDS. Wonderful.

I did hear one person claim that football hooliganism was in essence a ‘mentally healthy’ pastime for young men. It indulges the natural instincts of tribal togetherness and fighting physically for superiority. I’m not sure anything like that has ever passed a credible, peer reviewed study but it’s an interesting theory.

I'm inclined to say, 'yes and report back' TBH.

F**k me, can’t you lot agree on anything? Thinking about it, chocolate flavour probably would just edge Robbie but only chocolate. Strawberry is probably on par with early forties Shania Twain or peak Cate Blanchett.

I’d say there was a bit of a spectrum between finding a packet of Angel Delight in the back of the cupboard and Margot Robbie climbing in through my bedroom window.

Watching the cricket, if we declare on 130 we send the Aussies home. Just saying.

Liverpool have TAA, United have AWB. Maybe his best long term bet is to replace Walker, who will be 32 next summer, at City. Arsenal could be a reasonable bet but I doubt Spurs could afford him.

I’d agree with that. There does appear to be an increasing number of people in society who have been spoiled emotionally, to a point that they can’t accept fault, blame, criticism or failure. It’s not like it makes them particularly happy either, they just have a warped view of what the world owes them and no resilience when they don’t get it.

Come on City! Back to back 0-5s in a local derby in their own back yard.

This is almost identical to our first half yesterday.

Depends whether they have McGinn available.

I had it in a restaurant in Latvia once and the waiter there said it was Ukrainian. On the other hand I had a Polish ex. Girlfriend and whenever we went to visit her mother in Łódź, she made it as a ‘traditional Polish’ dish. On the other hand that whole Polish/Lithuanian dynasty once incorporated large parts of western Ukraine around Lviv, so you could argue either is true.

Nobody tell him we’re here. I’ll jingle my car keys to distract him.

I think religious texts of that era still hold gravitas because they are a basic blueprint for hierarchy, which is what we need. We are tribal mammals and not everyone can be, or is suitable to be, an alpha. Stuff like respecting your elders, not killing, not stealing etc. Still resonates to this day. Add in a solution to our natural fear of death, by way of an afterlife and a play on our natural fear of an unknown, apex predator (whichever ‘god’ you believe in) and it’s easy to see how even 3000 year old belief systems are still popular.

I’ve seen one interview where he went into the uptake in STEM subjects in Scandinavia, it didn’t surprise me in the slightest. Similar things have happened with women too, recent years have seen a concerted movement against things like page 3, so called ‘lads magazines’, F1 grid girls and even strip clubs. The ideological belief is that if we get rid of all these ancient, misogynistic ideas the young women involved will somehow throw off the shackles of male oppression and go to law/med school. In reality we’ve got Instagram and Only Fans and more young women than ever are choosing to get involved. Page 3 girls used to be household names 20 odd years ago, now it’s so prevalent pretty much anyone can give it a go. Not that I’m holding that up as an archetype example to young women but it shows the same thing very clearly. Give people more freedom of choice and they will naturally flow towards their own instincts and not some ideologues paradigm of equality.
