Not seen any footballers d*cking around but I've no idea why that would upset people. They can do what they want, if you choose to follow them on SM then that's up to you. I'm much more annoyed about the panic buyers and those ignoring basic health advice. I was in Tesco last night and they'd stripped the shelves of dog food and fabric softner.

I’m off work ‘until further notice’, so I’ll probably just end up on here acting like even more of a helmet. May dig the Scalextric out the spare room.

I’m glad someone got the reference.

I know a lot of airline crew who’ve ready been laid off and I can’t really see where their next pay cheque is coming from.
-
There's a certain low cost, Irish airline, who shall remain nameless, where things may be particularly difficult. Many of their employees are on zero hour contracts. Even if the government does give airlines a short term grant to help keep them afloat, those employees wont see a penny from a company who made one billion Euros profit last year. A tough time for a lot of industries. Wish I'd invested in Andrex, Dettol, PornHub and whichever company makes ventilators.

If someone had told me 3 months ago that in 2020 a crazed Jihadi will be rampaging around Woking, licking pensioners faces, I probably wouldn’t have believed you.

Why is nobody panic buying fresh vegetables in all of this? You'd think a good dose of vitamin C would be high on people's priority list.

The Sunday Times - Southampton put up for sale at £250m

Again, you just fundamentally don't get this. I'm not defending him, I think he's useless. He is obviously not an Abramovic or Sheikh, who basically buy football clubs as fashion statements to get laid. This is a business, an investment. He isn't going to put any more money in that he has to and he doesn't have £4bn in his bank account. Hardly anyone on the planet does. -
I've got a Labrador and a jar of Nutella, I think I'll be alright.

No... just no. Gao does not have anything close to £4bn sitting in his bank account. -
Yes, that's exactly the point. The disease will spread through supermarkets, etc. and we wont be able to stop it, only reduce the rate at which it spreads. The difference being we need food shops to carry on living, we don't need football and trips to Ibiza.
-
You can't isolate this for certain. Even with testing, you can't be certain that someone who tests negative hasn't got it on his hands, water bottle or it's too early to show up in the test or whatever. Then he is just a walking petri-dish, who is going to spread it to others even if he doesn't directly come into contact with an elderly person. It's a fundamental point; you have human beings from all over the country coming together for physical contact for no reason other than entertainment. They aren't providing some social or medical service, you're talking about spreading a killer disease for the sake of a game of football.

Yes, because he were safe by the middle of January and he didn't need to do it. FROM HIS POINT OF VIEW we did not desperately need defenders - He's the owner, his POV is the one that counts. When are some people going to get this. We are an investment for Gao, so long as we're a secure Premier League asset he doesn't need to spend more money. -
Yes because wealth is a reasonable way to judge whether someone’s elderly relatives deserve to die.
-
Agree, it’s got to be either one or the other - Either everything stands or nothing. Can you imagine the riot Leeds fans would start if they gave Liverpool the title but didn’t promote them. There’s no line in the sand here, so who decides what is definitely/probably/maybe going to happen in the last 2 months of the season.
-
It depends how long all this goes on for. The best solution IMO would be to finish the league this year, have a shorter summer break with no Euro and start next season late but cancel both domestic cup competitions. That should free up enough space in the calendar for an extra 8-9 league games with a few midweekers thrown in.
-
I never mentioned what I want, I’m telling you what happened. I want to see us fighting for Europe but that’s not going to happen with this bloke in charge. When we beat Palace in the middle of January, we had 31 points. We weren’t going to go down from there, so Gao had no need to spend.

Premier League clubs will host a second emergency meeting on Thursday.

If anyone has already booked their train tickets and wants to go anyway, I know a cracking owl sanctuary.

Everything was fine and still is. Maybe not to you but to Gao it is and that’s all that matters. Do you think a businessman 6,000 miles away in Shanghai really gives toss if some people in a football message board are entertained by his investment? Gao didn’t need to invest in January to protect his investment. Ralph I’m sure would have liked some better players but that’s life and he will get on with his job without them.
-
It's exactly the same position on the other side of the pitch. It's not relevant. If you disagree then fine, there's not much else I can say really. If you're just going to make stuff up, I can't really discuss it. Ralph wanted players and if we were still in the relegation fight we might have spent a bit more to try and stay up. We are 'fine' as far as the board are concerned; we aren't going down this season. If they don't have to spend money unnecessarily they wont.
-
He was a reserve fullback, which side is irrelevant.
-
Nobody is naive enough to believe Ralph is happy with this squad. Obviously we wanted to bring players in but clearly the right ones weren’t available within our obviously limited budget. Is Vokins a Premier League player? Not yet but he’s hardly a downgrade on Danny Fox or Jeremy Pied.

The Sunday Times - Southampton put up for sale at £250m

Unless you know someone is interested, in which case it's 'How to get the best price', chapter 1, page 1 - "It's not for sale." -
Or alternatively; Ralph wanted to bring players in but because of financial constraints it was only ever going to be if the right player was available at the right price. Despite Glasgow’s fantasies, clearly there weren’t a dozen Andy Robertsons available for £8m and that’s very much the exception, rather than the norm with today’s prices.
