  1. The offside law isn’t consistent for all situations. It changes for a goal kick or a throw in because it suits the game better. Red cards are different too. If you trip a player in the oppositions penalty box it’s just a free kick to them, if you commit the same foul when a player is through on goal it’s a straight red. Supposing McC pulls off an absolute worldy save tomorrow in injury time when it’s 0-0. Vardy is stood a yard away and the ball rebounds off his hand and back into the net. Completely accidental, so the goal should stand, correct?
  2. It’s not ridiculous, it means you can’t score from any handball and you can’t concede a penalty from an accidental handball. Makes prefect sense to me, I don’t see the problem. Do you think it’s right that Henry scored against Ireland?
  3. In the grand scheme of things I’d like the Blades to help send the Hammers down and get revenge for 2007 or whenever it was. That said, Utd are catchable to a bore draw is fine.
  4. Then it is quite obviously offside, by around 10cm and should be given as such immediately.

Without wanting to go into Corbyn on another thread, I generally agree. It's almost impossible not to be a hypocrite in some capacity. If I set up some local recycling scheme, I'm sure I'd have people pointing out that I used to drive a gas-guzzling car with a 3.5L engine, or the flights I took last year just to go and have a few beers with friends in France. Doesn't mean I shouldn't try to do what I can.

I've got a 2 bed apartment on the market in Crawley, so it's good to know there are a couple more potential buyers out there.
  7. I guess we just disagree on that fundamentally, I haven’t seen anything to suggest fans were satisfied that we’d tried and failed to sign players. I don’t see any way in which it could be said that worked, if it was a tactic to placate fans. Almost all the opinion I can remember, both at the time and since then, has been overwhelmingly negative. We’ve nearly been relegated, Reed lost his job and everyone was glad to see him gone. Fans are p*ssed off, I’ve not seen one person saying they wish he’d stayed because he nearly signed Promes.
  8. How does it illustrate that? The replies on this thread just show badly all these failed transfer windows have been for PR. Nobody has been placated, if this is a PR tactic then it has bombed spectacularly.
  9. That’s the thing though, I don’t. I believe Reed to be incompetent for failing to recruit any decent players in recent years. We needed quality player in summer and we’ve had several games this season where none of our signings made the match day 18. Okay, Djenepo was injured but still... it’s nowhere near good enough and whoever said what to the press didn’t make any difference. It’s all a moot point. I don’t believe any rumour until I see them holding a sh*t, overpriced shirt outside a decent, overpriced training ground.
  10. That’s all fair enough, I’m not doubting that the club leak info to the press. Stuff like telling the fans we’re going to sign players and change the coaches after the 0-9 is sensible PR mitigation. I’m just not sure why they would want to look like they were consistently failing to sign good players.
  11. I’ll assume you mean that if we’re told we tried to sign a great player and failed, we will all just sit here happy that we tried to be ambitious. Now, I can sort of see the logic in that but how many people do you think are actually stupid enough to fall for it? When Les left, there was a poll and 95% of people were glad to see the back of him. He was judged in what he did and what he failed to do, both by the fans and rest of the boardroom. Not by rumours of superstar signings in the Telegraph. To put an analogy on it, it’s like leaving some Barbados holiday brochures lying around the house, some fake, business class Virgin Atlantic tickets in strategic places around the house and asking the wife to buy 4 bottles of factor 30. Then book a static caravan weekend in Ilfracombe and tell the family there was a booking error and the Caribbean trip got cancelled. I don’t think they’d be impressed and would probably stop believing you if you did it twice a year. Sorry I know I’ve gone a bit off topic but there’s little else to discus on this thread ATM.
  12. I’m still not sure what exactly you think has been said by the club, to journalists and why? Supposing the club (indirectly) tell the fans we’re going to sign Carlos Soccerama, Corinthians top scorer, for £40m - then we actually sign Ade Akinbeye on loan from Stoke. How is that beneficial to anyone associated with the club? If far more likely: A) We did at least make enquiries, nothing came of it and rumours leaked out that we were interested. B) Carlos Soccerama’s agent made it up because West Ham are interested and want to force their hand/up the wages. C) Trolls and journalists need people to pay attention to their ramblings and make stuff up on a daily basis.
  13. Fair enough but we were talking about transfers. Kat hasn't been proven wrong on that yet, I mean if Gao takes us to a 5th place finish in 5 years, she can say she was correct. Anyway, that's a different topic. I never believed the 'next level' stuff anyway and I don't think I've met anyone else who did. Ralph did get personnel, I don't know what you mean. We signed Adams, Danso and Djenepo, when the squad was already bloated with players hard to shift. You can't just say Danso doesn't count, just because you don't rate him. Ralph would have known when he was appointed that we could only bring in what we can sell and get off the wage bill.
  14. Vague and meaningless. Also that’s a separate issue to player transfers.
  15. I’d would say that’s more often the players agents and selling clubs trying to push up prices. Half the ‘ITK’s are just bog standard trolls and people repeating nonsense they’ve read on twitter. I don’t really see how the club benefits by making fans think we’re signing three or four great players, then disappointing everyone by not.
  16. I went to that, second round I think. From what I can recall it was a cold and damp and we were making fun of the sizable Ade Akinfenwe. Parking was pretty easy though. Well I don't. It wont get better than 4-0 at Fratton, so we've little to gain. On the other hand if we go down because they injure Ings, we'd never hear the end of it. Let them stew on the 4-0 for a couple of years, I'll take a nice easy, low key tie, so we can rest players for league games.
  17. When have Saints ever promised anything? Most of the disappointment I’ve seen in January has come from people dreaming that we’re going to sell about five surplus players and bring in three.
  18. I'm not sure loyal is the word. Loyalty to me implies that you don't go and support another club, no matter how poor Saints are. I think 'committed' would be a better word for people who make the most effort to travel the furthest.
  19. At home to someone sh*t and the big teams draw each other, as I usually hope for.

    Che Adams

Absolutely this. His movement is good, we just need the rest of the team on the same wavelength. I'm willing to persevere.
  21. Afraid not. I’m also part of a Methodist sect, which celebrates the birthday of every member of Bachman-Turner overdrive. Between that, Diwali and everything else, I only work five days a year.
  22. Good point, Romeu got away with a stonewall yellow stopping a break on the halfway line. There were a couple of others but he did at least give the foul, so I’m not too upset.
  23. I don’t choose to believe 1+1=2. I take it as a certainty because it’s a fundamental principle I’ve told to believe since birth. Religion is like this for a lot of people.
  24. I’m sure they were looked at but nothing credible enough to stop the cake popped up on the screen. I can only remember the supposed push on Vestergaard from an early free kick and Boufal going down like a sack of spuds after running into any other tackle. Some bloke behind me was fuming about the officiating but I can’t remember anything particularly wrong. Long was offside and neither supposed penalty looked convincing to me.
  25. Any more posts on here about Redmond are getting deleted, it’s a bizarre and pointless argument which seems to be going round in circles. Good game from JWP today. Keep it up lad.
