  1. Hypothetically speaking.... I'd get rid of quite a few players. Connolly, Jaidi, Holmes, Forecast, Dickson, Harding, Seaborne, Hammond and probably Guly I'd say are not Prem quality and I would try to offload. Question marks over a couple of others, like Puncheon, Barnard and Bart but I would give them a go. Players in would depend largely on who goes up and who goes down. Rhodes, Hoilett, Rodallega... Just a couple of ideas.
  2. I laughed my tits off at 4 Lions, although it's not really what you'd call uplifting. Blades of Glory was on a couple of weeks ago. Good for a giggle.
  3. Lee has earnt his starting place on merit. Whenever he plays his movement is fantastic, he brings much needed pace and he has shown he can't half finish when he wants to. Sharp's reputation alone wont get him into the side. He needs to prove himself in the chances he gets, same as everyone else. So far I can't see a case for starting him ahead of Lee.
  4. I'd go with this team and bench, except for Harding in assuming Fox is injured. I think people should lay off Harding a bit. It's difficult being a defender, because you have to win every battle. If Lambert gives the ball away or f**ks up a shot, no bother he can just try again next time. If a defender loses his man for a second, or gets turned or leaves a yard too much space then that can be enough to concede a goal and suddenly you're the villain. It can't be easy to play consistently well when you are in and out the team all the time. In any case, I don't actually think he was that bad last night.
  5. I live in Bristol, glad I left early to go to the game now. Come to think of it, I doubt I'll notice too much difference when I get back.
  6. Alpine is a trolling muppet who will say absolutely anything to provoke a reaction. Have to say calling our fan base a bunch of racists is one of his less subtle efforts, but the strategy hasn't changed - just ignore him. Arguing with him is like playing chess with a pigeon. You could be the best chess player in the world, but the pigeon will just knock over the pieces, s**t all over the board and strut around like he owns the place. Back to the game... I thought we deserved to win in terms of decent possession going forward, we just didn't take our chances when they came. Guly somehow missed that header in the first half, Lallana missed a couple of decent openings too and there was a chance to make it 2-0 if someone had got on the end of De Ridders second cross. I didn't think our fullbacks had great games, but I wouldn't say they were particularly bad. Jos probably at fault for their goal, in that situation he should have taken the ball, the man and his wife and kids, rather than letting him cut inside. I thought Guly was very poor. I don't buy the argument of being told to play narrower, his possitioning was terrible and he left FR badly exposed a few times. Too narrow and offered very little. De Ridder did more in his first 3 minutes on the pitch than Guky did in 70. If Guly starts again against Barnsley I will be a bit miffed to say the least. The central midfield pair weren't up to much either, but I thought Lallana and Lee looked excellent, particularly first half. Lambert pretty good in the air, although didn't get too many chances. Fonte was good, Kelvin did all you can ask of him. Overall, 2 points definitely dropped but it happens. On to the next one, come on Saints!!!
  7. Our squad is big enough as it is and I really don't think we need cover in any possition at the moment. I'd say we need to be getting rid of 6 or 7 players before we start bringing more in.
  8. Something like that, it was about 7 or 8 years ago now. There was also the "TSF Completes My Life" Facebook group. TSF was the acronym for some religious cult in New York I think and they weren't that pleased to meet our resident mongs.
  9. The Skates will roll over and die in this one. Stick your house on Reading.
  10. You'd want ground zero to be further North West somewhere around Buckland, that way you could take out Cosham and most of Gosport too.
  11. Or a Lancaster with four?
  12. I watch Eurovision if only for the wall to wall hot Eastern European women. The best being Ani Lorak a few years ago. A sort of Ukrainian Cheryl Cole. Musically however it's the equivalent of the Paralympics. I'm not the slightest bit interested in the UK entry it will be sh*t, embarassing and nobody will vote for it.
  13. I seem to remember quite a few people getting banned from Saintsforever for something not too disimilar to this, except they were trolling washing machine forums, not POL.
  14. A f**k up will always be just around the corner with us and as such it will always be in the back of my mind. Mind you, every fan in the country says that. Even the Utd and Arsenal fans probably have a nagging voice in the back of their heads when they go to West Brom, Everton or Stoke. I don't THINK we will screw this week up. This isn't a team of bottlers, but off days can just pop up out of nowhere. Wham and Reading both have home bankers on Tuesday too, so let's hope one of them fecks it up and not us.
  15. Barnsley away when Wotte the f**k was in charge. 1-0 smash and grab.
  16. A cabin altitude of around 6,000 feet for about half an hour wont have had any effect on their bodies what so ever. It is possible the stress and hastle of airports, security waiting around for baggage etc. might have had an effect. Plus the fact a few of the players probably have anxiety about flying, which would have knocked them off their game a bit psychologically. Probably not the wisest decision the club have ever made.
  17. He's been pretty good in the very limited outings he has had thus far. As for the Reading goal being his only contribution, that would be true if he hadn't scored against Cardiff, Coventry and Torquay. His goals and assist this season stack up favourably compared to any other midfielder, with the exception of Lallana.
  18. Being better at literature than a team called 'reading'. There's irony.
  19. The one game we want Cardiff to win and they're complete sh*te. Oh well, at least this leaves them well adrift of us.
  20. Oh noes. Chelsea in for Adkins, etc.
  21. In a nutshell. A few weeks ago when West Ham knocked us off the top, they were going to run away with the league. Before that Birmingham were unstoppable and were going to to come through and win the league, despite being just outside the playoffs. Before that Cardiff were the in form team to look out for. Before that it was Boro breathing down on the top 2. Reading look strong, but if they can maintain this form through their run in I'd be astonished.
  22. True, but Leeds away and Tractors at home are two completely different prospects. Thinking about it, if Lallana isn't fit I might go with Chaplow left and De Ridder on the right.
  23. A nice midweek home game for us and definitely one we should be aiming to win. I'd go with the same side that started at Leeds, injuries permitting and depending on Lallana's fitness. COYR!! WASWTOTL!! etc
  24. We've missed loads since then. Under the Dutch Duo it seemed like Wotton, DMG and Surman were missing them every week. Euell, Quashie and Rasiak have all missed too.
  25. Try as he might, Nigel just couldn't pull a face as ugly as Warnock.
