Reading, West Ham, Brighton... could you imagine Honnestly, I think Saints and Reading are best possitioned and West Ham will win the playoffs.

We never were a one man team. That's just a silly, bitter argument a selection of opposing fans like to throw at us. Of course Lambert is very important to us. Take the top scorer out of any team and they will struggle. Arsenal are gash without RVP, Man Utd without Rooney. Even Real Madrid and Barca wouldn't be anywhere near as good without Ronaldo and Messi. People also assume, for some weird reason, that if we didn't have Lambert up front we'd play the entire season with 10 men and ignore the fact that another decent striker in his place could quite easily score 20 goals a season. Lambert is a key player, but he has players like Frazer, Fox, Lallana, Morgan and De Ridder making him look good. Rickie has had a fair few quiet games when we've been off the boil and he hasn't had the service. His goals are a testament to the quality of our service.

Met a guy on the train yesterday who used to support Ipswich but doesn't really follow them any more. He was an ex-tractor fan. I made that one up and I think it fulfills the mandate of the thread title perfectly.

Exactly, Alpine is just being silly. If we're nowhere close to Bristol in the League, it doesn't matter as such that they beat us twice. It's still 0 points from 2 random games. We might just as well have won the home game and lost at Barnsley for all the difference it would have made. Wham have take just 1 point in 3 games against us and Reading so far. That could be far more costly at the end of the season if you want to look at isolated results.

Pretty decent race i thought, great to see Jenson running the show and Hamilton on the podium. That was a mental final lap though. Di Resta went from 13th to snatch the final point on the finish line, Maldonado crashing out, Perez hitting Rosberg and Kobayashi and Raikkonen coming through for 6th and 7th. Amazed how far off the pace Merc were though. Should be a good season.

He has a point. Guly was far from our worst player today, but to say this was one of Guly's better performances would be doing him a diservice IMO. We were very poor up until the 85th minute and there were few performances I'd describe as good.

It's hard for a player to get fit again after an injury. Even harder to get 'Saints fit' and harder still to get 'Richard Chaplow fit'. Sprinting and chasing with the intensity we used to see from Chaplow takes incredibly high fitness levels and they will take time to come back. Patience is needed here, I'd try swapping him for De Ridder and bringing Chaplow off the bench second half if needed.

Remember discussing this on the way home and coming to the same conclusion, the potential for 10 doubles this season. We've only had 2 against so far, Bristol and Leicester, although Donny could potentially add to that.

That Ferrari is a complete dog at the moment and unlike Mclaren they don't have a great track record of developing a car. The most recent crap Ferrari was the 2005 car, which was off the pace and never got close throughout the season. Should be a belter of a race. Hoping for a Mclaren 1-2 and have gone back to anyone but Michael. I don't want him winning again, it would be like the kid who bullied you at school turning up at the same nursing home when you're 85.

Is there anyone who was there when he scored all 5 of his Saints hat tricks? I was there today, Brighton, Forest and MK Dons but I missed Watford a few weeks ago. Can anyone beat that?

Just back from the game. Wow pretty much sums that up. It's a good job the OB kept us in the ground for 20 minutes, stopped anyone leaving early and missing the fun. Our play was dreadful for most of the game. We got sucked into Millwall's 'style' of football and they beat us on experience. At the time I thought the first penalty was cast iron, but honnestly didn't see the handball for the second. The first I knew about it was Jos Hooiveld staring right at me and screaming with delighted. I wondered what he was so happy about, then I looked at the ref. I think Rickie was a bit nervy for the second penalty, sending it low down the middle. Can't say I blame him, after a performance like that, a last minute winner seemed too good to be true. Chaplow and Hammond were a long way off the pace. Poor touches and second to everything. Lallana and Morgan were competant, but rarely dangerous or creative. the fullbacks both sprayed a few wayway passes around. Lambert did well up front with limited service, won a lot of headers and held it up well. Guly was pretty hit and miss. Nowhere first half, better second half but vanished when he dropped into midfield. Please don't jump on his back, he was far from our worst player. Jos was at fault for a goal again, not closing his man doing and letting him turn inside... again. Generally though him and Fonte were fairly good, appart from the 2 goals we conceded which were dreadful from a team point of view. De Ridder should start the next game. He was always looking lively, taking his man on, giving us width and won a handful of corners. Unlucky not to score too, with a header off the line. Overall, we did just enough. Somehow. It wasn't pretty and we will lose 9/10 games we play like that, but you can't fault the team for not giving up.

Still pretty inconclusive IMO. Think the second one was more off his chest.

55,000 fans cheering his penalty at Wembley Both goals (so far) against the Skates MK Dons Can't choose between the four really. The Skates cup game was the only one I missed (lucky me) but I think I went the most mental at Fratton Park.

I think the worst example of that would be a handful of fans singing "you're just a small town in City" at Old Trafford a few years back. Anyway, one would hope we don't have any fans mongy enough to sing pro West Ham songs but it wouldn't surprise me.

If you're on a boat sinking in the middle of the Atlantic, sound investments in stocks and share would probably be useful in the future, but they aren't really what you need at the time.

First race of the new season this weekend. Mclaren and Red Bull have been the pace setters in pre season, with Mercedes looking competitive. Ferrari are off the pace so far. Button was fastest in FP1, with Hamilton second. The Red Bulls never really set competitive lap times as Schumacher took third. I reckon we could be in for a decent season, with Mclaren hopefully on Red Bulls pace unlikely the last 2 years. Finally gave in and upgraded to a Sky Sports package as I decided I couldn't survive a season on BBC's limited coverage. Will be interesting to see how well this works on Sky Go too. Qualy and race both start at 6am UK time. How many other hard cores will be up to watch?

Andrew Davies was signed 2 years after we got relegated, unless I've missunderstood the question. He also didn't go somewhere else in between, unlike Cork and Chaplow. Hooiveld, Guly, Saganowski, Wright, Rasiak and Perry are the only others I can think of we signed permanently.

TV viewing figures. Nobody will watch Fulham against Metalist Kharkhiv if Arsenal Barcelona was on the other channel. Agree it should just be original EL teams in there though. Utd and City clearly don't give a sh*t about this competition. I went to a Europa League knock out game at the Etihad last season, the ground was just over half full. I know City were in it from the start then, but they weren't really that bothered about it.
