  1. I wonder how Skacel scores so many goals playing at left back... oh.
  2. Assuming a fully fit midfield includes Lallana, Chaplow, Cork and Hammond, that leaves De Ridder, Holmes, Morgan, Tandoori, Barnard and Connolly fighting for 3 spaces on the bench. That's assuming we don't sign any other players, which I expect we will. The only reason Holmes has gotten close to the first team recently is because many of our first choice attacking players have been unavailable.
  3. Was driving down the road a few years ago when a cat ran straight out in front of my car. No time to brake, nothing I could do about it. I heard the cat go under my front left wheel, so I pulled over and got out. Lying on the grass a couple of feet from the road was this poor cat, not moving but still breathing. I couldn't just leave it there and decided the kindest thing was to put it out of its mysery. Grabbed it by the head and twisted it sharply, death was instant and pretty much painless. Anyway, then I turned back to my car and there lodged in the front left wheel arch was a dead cat. Turns out I'd just killed some random cat asleep on the grass. Not sure what my point is but when it comes to putting your cat to sleep, make sure you get the right one.
  4. Guly's career as a street mime got off to a disappointing start.
  5. Didn't see the game today, but one thing I've noticed about Connolly is that he hardly ever scores unless we are awesome. I was there when he scored on his debut, a 3-1 win at Oldham when we battered them. He scored the next game, 3-1 again against Dons. Again we were awesome. This season 4 of his 6 goals came in August when we were playing awesome. Then he finished off our goal of the decade against Boro a couple of months ago... When we were awesome. Then there's his performance today. I'm not going to knock him, he can certainly do a job, but when the going gets tough and we aren't firing on all cylinders, he can often go missing. He's not like Lambert or Guly who can pop up with a goal out of nowhere when we're in the Sh*t.
  6. Don't you win most games if you hold on whilst your winning. I thought that was kind of the idea.
  7. Marvin is one of those players who I've never see play, but I'd love it if we signed him. Young, bags of pace and seems to score for Watford every time I watch Soccer Saturday. Different to any of the strikers we've got. Lee, Jos and Sordell in would be a great transfer window.
  8. Ooooh Tadanari He's a striker From Japan He played in Hiroshima with his 15 fingered mates And now he's joined Southampton cos he f**king hates the skates ooooooooh Tadanari
  9. You should write songs for JLS.
  10. Am I the only one who would die of embarrassment if I heard the lines about "even eats their knees" and "puts them with some peas". To me it just comes across as a naff attempt to find words that rhyme with 'Japanese'. I like the idea and the tune, but surely we can find some better lyrics than that. Most of our fans struggle to sing OWTS coherently, I doubt they will manage some of the suggestions on here. How about: Oooooh Tadanari He's a striker From Japan He scored against the Ozzies with a volley from a cross And now he's joined Southampton, to show you who's the boss Ooooooh Tadanari...
  11. I like "Lee will rock you" a lot. Couple of other suggestions: He's half Japanese he's half Japaneeeeeeese He's half Korean He's half Japanese Or Lee, Lee wherever you may be You hunt whale in your own country But it could be worse You could be Skate F**king your mum on a Pompey Estate
  12. Wow, Nicola must be running out of horse heads. Great work, wonder if he can be registered by the deadline for the Forest game (Friday midday is it?) although if it isn't I might get to see his debut the week after at SMS.
  13. The wars were different. Millions of people sacrificed their lives so that the freedoms we hold dear could be maintained for future generations. Everyone owes them a debt of gratitude. You can't compare that to the Titanic, which was a tragic accident and not really relevant to most people alive today. If there is a minutes silence, I'll stand there quietly just like everyone else. Will it mean anything? No, not really. I've never met anyone involved with the Titanic and I've never met anyone who knew anyone on board. A couple of billion other people have died since that night, I don't see how their lives are any more or less relevant. Bearsy may be a silly WUM (it's Deppo for those who don't know) but he has a point with the Gliding club and Badminton Association. A football club has very little relevance to a boat. Some of those 550 Southampton residents may have been Saints fans (I'd have said about 20 or 30 based loosely on today's attendance figures). They may also have liked Hampshire Cricket, dogging and Beef Stroganoff. It's hardly a connection. A minutes silence doesn't mean anything in itself. It's just a stadium full of people standing in silence. 100 years doesn't really mean anything either, it's just a nice round number.
  14. I'm against the idea that people should be 'forced' into grief in such a way. If a Saints player died then fair enough, that is a sad moment personal to all inside the stadium. But the Titanic? I doubt anyone at St Marys has ever met anyone who died on that ship. It will in all likelihood just be 25,000 stood in silence out of politeness and social conformity. What if 2,000 years ago Saxon warlords raped pillaged and murdered 3,000 Roman Settlers on what is now St Deny. Do we have a minutes silence for them too, or do they not matter because it was longer ago? I have already had to sit through 3 separate minutes silence for Gary Speed, who has no connection to Saints, but none for Gary Ablett who apparently doesn't matter. The more tributes we have to causes not connected to the club, the more we become riddled with hypocrisy. Yes it was a tragic event, if you want to remember it feel free to lay flowers at any number of memorials around the city. Put please stop telling me I have to grieve too.
  15. In what way? He came off the bench for the last 20 minutes at Donny, which is by far his longest run out in the League. He's had about half a dosen others where he came on with 5 minutes left. He started a couple of League Cup games against lower league sides, but today he didn't even get off the bench in a game when we played 5 kids. Then in the post match interview Adkins suggested he may well be loaned out soon. I don't get the need for sarcasm here. In 4 years at the club, Holmes really hasn't done much else. Suggesting he isn't up to it is a perfectly legitimate opinion.
  16. People being negative doesn't bother me. People are like that, some see the best in everything, others see the worst. It's stuff like saying "we will lose at least 3-0" after we went behind today. That's not being negative, it's just being silly. Anyway, that's as much time as I'm prepared to waste on this subject. Good night everyone.
  17. Yes, he has 17,500 posts of nothing else. Give up shirleysfc you can't win.
  18. Exactly. Alpine is nothing short of a complete w*nker (I'll have mushy peas and vinegar on those infractions please). Sticking him on your ignore list will get you so far, but sadly it's effect is limited unless everyone does it. Some people are delude into thinking an argument will get them somewhere. It's quite sad really, some people even think they are "winning" and "proving him wrong". They're now on my ignore list too. Alpine, don't even bother responding to this, you're on my ignore list so I wont even see it. P*ss off.
  19. If you could do that, we'd have got rid of Forecast years ago. As it is we have to either wait for it to expire (this summer I believe) or get someone else to buy or loan him out. Adkins has hinted at a loan, which is probably best for all concerned. Lee will do a decent job for someone, but I don't see it being a club with Premier League aspirations or status.
  20. Want to see more of what our reserves can do, so would like to go a long way. On that basis a pretty crap team anywhere. If anything, I think playing at SMS can be detrimental to younger players. Making their debuts in front of 15,000 Saints fans is probably a lot more daunting that playing in a 1/4 full Ricoh Arena.
  21. I know that was before Rickie signed, that's kind of my point. I don't think we've beaten anyone who wasn't a lower league cup game without Rickie starting, since he signed. First game of last season 1-0 defeat by Plompey Penultimate game of the previous season, 2-1 defeat at Gillingham Knocked out of the League Cup by Palace a couple of months ago, 2-0. Sure there are a couple more.
  22. I think the last game we won without Rickie, against opposition in the same division, was Palace at home in April 2009. 1-0 win DMG scored. I could be wrong, but I think that is the case.
  23. We had a thread slating him after Blackpool, some even wrote him off completely. Today he sounded at the very least to be a competant 'keeper. He dealt with some awkward balls in by the sounds of it and saved a decent 1 on 1 chance, despite having a pretty poor team in front of him for the first hour. Didn't here the taters mention any errors really. Congrats to him.
  24. I'd have thought today was the best chance Holmes would get to start a game. As it happens we had JWP, Doble, Hoskins, Reeves and Stevens all playing some part, whilst Lee didn't even get off the bench. Does this indicate he could be on his way out perhaps?
