Gobern leaving creates a nice gap for Ward-Prowse. Sounds like he's quality. I guess we'll discover the real quality when it heads off to Switzerland with the first team.
-
Most of us would sell out too for a footballer's wage and a signing-on fee large enoough to put down the deposit on a mansion. Are we the only team with a bid accepted? I'd expect he's probably holding out until there are multiple offers on the table.

The biggest surprise for me is that it's taken him this long to get there. He doesn't rely on his pace, so I think he can play well into his 30s. More than 10 years if he goes on like Teddy Sheringham! He's an excellent all-round striker and team player.
-
You get the feeling Arsenal want him simply to stop anyone else from having him, much like they did with Walcott. Can they justify paying the sums being spoken of for a player that won't play in the first team and when he does, might not be as good as they'd hoped? I'd say not, especially since they aim to win things in the short term and have only brought through one really decent English player for years (Wilshere), but then again I know absolutely nothing about what is happening. I think he'll stay, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him go while English players are moving for crazy prices.

I thought the ruling was to only spend what you turn over on transfers and wages? Only the really big spenders (comparable to their turnover) actually do that. money spent on youth/infrastructure/scoutng/maintenance etc. is exempt. Wages will still fall under the new ruling, so taking advantage of not having the ruling now would require us to find players with large fees and modest wages. They are out there, but it rules out most of the obvious NPC and PL proven players.

Sharp, Maynard, CMS - who would be best for saints?

I've never had to mark out pitches or buy goals, so I'll take your word that they are expensive. I'm familiar with specialist items being deceptively expensive. I wasn't born until 92, so wouldn't have been familiar with non-trading Sundays, although my dad only worked weekdays until retiring recently.

Adam Lallana is only 5'8".

Interesting that. The Spanish are very good at passing and moving, but the South Americans are still the masters of creative flair. Put the two together and it produces some great stuff. The Spanish international side win matches through persistence and defending well, but I can't remember them ever seriously thrashing anyone half decent like Barcelona can. I think Lallana should have been used in the Norway friendly, so Pearce knew what he was about in a game that didn't matter before heading off to the Championships. The u21s used him when he played in the Championship under Poortvliet and he's improved a lot since then. Its pretty typical of the FA's attitude towards the lower leagues that he never even got a chane to prove himself.

If a player is interested in talking to us, it's not his agent's job's worth to refuse. It's perfectly acceptable for us to not deal with clubs or agents that thrust players infront of us if they are not what we are looking for. If a player wants to join and the selling club are content with the fee, the agent has little choice but to negotiate. We play hardball and we won't get held to ransom, even if we do sometimes miss out.
-
Obviously not, but with that in mind, it would be interesting to look at the stats relating to ethnicity in academies.

Are smaller goals and moving the white lines inwards that expensive? As for working weekends, surely that isn't a new problem? Something should be done to address the imbalances.

I like the idea of smaller, age-appropriate pitches. It would speed up the tempo of kids games and let the good tehnical players make snap decisions. Players need to be at a certain level technically to be considered for first team places, big or not. Telling a kid "you're not old enough for this pitch yet" would be a great motivator too.
-
Annoying definately, but rohypnol and gaffa tape could fix that. She looks like she'd enjoy that too, dirty b1tch! Up to number 9 now.
-
His movement and flair would be wasted as a conventional CM. I'm sure he could do it, but his freedom would be severely restricted and we wouldn't see the best of him. He can't defend either, which would be a necessity for a CM. A free role or either wing is what he's suited to.

I Would Like To See No New Signings Or Departures Of Note!

When big players get injured, we just need to work hard and find the right tactics to get around it, we did exactly that against Man U without Lallana and put on a great show. Virtually no-one has players of equal calibre to step in when injuries happen. We do need cover for positions, but they can't be Lallana's or Fonte's if cover is what they're coming for. Young players and players willing to work hard for their chance is what we need from cover. Its all we can get from players that we can't guarantee regular games to. I personally think that should Chamberlain stay after July 1st, he'll stay at least until January, because no really good winger would want to risk being an understudy in the championship. We don't have a lot of cover on the wings and Adkins would want a replacement should the worst happen. -

Its impossile to run a club completely cut off from the transfer market. What we can do is take advantage of our first 11 needing not much doing to it to buy potential rather than proven to save ourselves a great deal of money. They don't have to be especially young, but players with talent who are willing to prove themselves. Not that we need it, but we could sign 5 or 6 very decent players for the same wages as Nolan at West Ham. We do need transfers, but not so urgently that we should pay too much for the first one going. We have scouts at home and this Fris-Hansen guy in Europe to look for the right people. -
Not quite as retarded as it sounds when you look at the prices of English players (the 'best' ones anyway and I use that word loosely). Chamberlain is better than L1 and potentially a lot better than where he is now. Based o his current standing, he's not worth anything like £35m. I would say its well worth doing what we can to keep him, its a much more attractive roll of the dice than splashing out on overpriced tripe.
-
Same. The risks of spending very heavily are worse than the risks of not spending heavily. It's also worth looking at the parachute wedge that clubs inevitably risk on trying to go back up. We can't compete with that, but we can compete by wanting it more on the pitch. That's what the Football League is about, it hasn't been monopolised my the money giants yet.

Who's that Tory MP bird who was on HIGNFY recently? The one that writes romance novels? I'd spaff over her. She has that dirty look, the one posh birds have that says "My daddy spoilt me rotten and didn't let me experience anything sexual, now **** me hard and call me a b1tch".

As the squad is, I wouldn't dream of starting a game without Lambert if he was fit. For someone who played as a target man for so long, he is a great passer and creative player as well as a goalscorer. He started the season carrying an injury, but later in the season once Adkins was bedded in, he really picked up. He's not that quick but that's ot his style, lots of NPC strikers aren't that quick and neither are the centre halves.

I only know from reading her column in the observer occasionally. She makes out that she's sh1t sociallly and awful to live with, basically a more attractive, female version of David Mitchell. Maybe someone set them up?

Victoria Coren is still single if you fancy your chances of squirting on/up her Crab Lungs. You might find out why though if you want more than a quickie.

can we have hardcore porn on the big screens at half time?

Is Cortese the best chairman in British football?

Maybe the statue could have interchangeable heads and which one it was could be determined by who Turksh thinks deserves a statue?
