Fab news that we seem to be getting rid and getting a fee.

They are merely expressing their opinion on the rite. It’s no different to Southgate and co expressing their view that they don’t want the fans to boo. Unless you describe that as a ban, you shouldn’t describe a boo as a ban.

Curious how those that choose to boo could be accused of trying to ban it.

I think that because the TV media won't even raise any probing questions of the rite it opens the door to the likes of that conservative MP to jump on the culture war angle. I think its well past its sell by date. I query whether any alternative rite should replace. There's lots of societal human ills, so why give one a special ritual 365 days a year to one. Maybe at most have one weekend with kick it out jerseys one week a year like the poppies so it has more impact.

Curious to see how England fare. Feels to me once again trying to throw in half fit/unfit players is going to be their undoing.

That seems spurious. This silly rite has been going on for over a year, I don’t see how if people sat on their hands for a week or two they would suddenly give it up.

The whole rite has now become a vicous self perpetuating circle. You've got the likes of Lineker now claiming people who are fed up of it or dislike the politics/political connections are the reason it has to continue forever.

I'd assume Lewis will fill that bizarre position that seems to have grown up in the premier league(stuart taylor etc) of the 3rd choice match day warm up keeper

Agree walker will play likely at centre back. Disagree with rest James shouldn’t be anywhere near anywhere but right back. Trippier isn’t going to cover left back given there are already left backs. Just weak management including TAA.

picking 4 right backs just seems silly to me. Strikes me as very weak managerial response to getting some criticism for dropping liverpool's right back last time round.

Doh was really hoping for something inspired by the 1987-89 Saints/danish vibe kit. Maybe next time. To be fair i expected it would be a return to a very simple stripe affair this time after the sash approach. Doesn't inspire any desire in me to purchase but sure there are many stripe fans who will be happy with it.

Think Mccarthy is the marginally better of the two. They are both serviceable which is hardly great praise but when we've got a lot worse Gunn still hanging around we've got to suck that up for another season.

Infuriating game. Equally good as them for large stretches but if you are unable to seriously work the keeper and they are you are likely to lose. The early adams header was probably the closest we came and that would have needed a goalie howler to let in. Too many times i felt we want to shift it out wide rather than go for the jugular. Not sure i can pin much blame on Mccarthy made one exceptional save, few decent saves. Couldn't do anything about the Tyler rebound. Bamford equal parts skill and jamminess. At 2 nil with seconds left Saints were playing completely braindead football and actively tried to concede a third.

Very good start and overall the better team so far. Missing Ings cutting edge at the moment though.
