  1. Smashing performance from Bell this afternoon, that's given us a fighting chance in the match.
  2. You're all being a lot kinder than I am, maybe I should chill out.
  3. Watch it. It honestly couldn't be any clearer. The ball deviates by about 30 degrees off his bat. He should have walked.
  4. That isn't the point. It's blatant cheating.
  5. It's embarrassing. The batsman has a responsibility to walk off there. He knows he's hit that. Everyone knows.
  6. How has Broad not walked there? That's shameful.
  7. Well done IRon Bell, good fifty. Keep it going...

  9. I'm not sure there was enough to definitively overturn the onfield decision, which is what the review system is for. Seems the ICC has apologised this morning too. S'done now though. And I shall weep alone, forever alone...
  10. The Inheritors, new album by James Holden. Really impressive stuff. Resolutely intense mix of Kieran Hebden-esque techno clatter, kraut-y drive and skronk-jazz flourish. He's a local chap too; I used to sell him records in Southampton HMV. He's gone on to slightly bigger things than I have
  11. That Trott decision was very poor IMO. Absolutely no basis to overturn the onfield call. Nevertheless, a dignified and composed performance from Cook and KP to settle things down. Particularly KP, not playing his typical game. Just what England needed. Strange day of cricket all round though. It's certainly been an interesting contest so far.
  12. Thanks man, I'll definitely learn from that. Being available and competent to point out to strangers that they're stupid, no matter how trifling the issue, will make me a better person. I'll stop commenting on here until I've got something more scathing to say.
  13. What an absolutely superb knock that was. Well played. I'm fairly confident England will bat a lot better this time round...
  14. Right yeah, that's definitely the point I missed.
  15. Some might say that was the action of someone who was "arrogant, uppity" and a "know-it-all" commenting from "his high horse".
  16. And you end all of your posts with the facepalm; the emoticon to suggest you consider whatever you're responding to as depressingly stupid. I'm not sure I see much of a difference in your respective attitudes.
  17. :facepalm::facepalm:
  18. Still on.
  19. Is it a boy?
  20. I think the bigger point at issue here is how we got to the point as a society where we have hugely popular shows which exist to make the stupid, the nasty and the greedy famous; then we as a society seem to elide their fame and their worth by inviting and valuing their opinions; then we accuse them of being stupid/nasty/greedy.
  21. Ha! I knew that, man. Never really took it that seriously. Seems like I should have done though, in case my memories turned out to be LIES!
  22. Suit yourself man, if it makes you feel better. Stoke and Sunderland had played in the top flight and been rubbish. That was my memory of them anyway. As for what you pored over in Bellemoor, I grew up in Winchester. Everyone in my school supported Spurs or Liverpool, so they didn't talk much about what Saints wore in the 70s.
  23. Fair play man, like I say, it was just a whimsical rebuttal to colinjb's letter to the same website about how all Saints fans wanted was the stripes back. We've played some good games in striped shirts, obviously. I must remember to only ever deal in absolute facts in future, rather than e.g. nostalgia or memory or feelings or any of that rubbish. Just writing a PM to MLG now for pointers on how to never be wrong.
  24. Also there's nothing particularly remarkable about knowing that Stoke and Sunderland played in stripes, having seen them do it. Whereas I'd never seen Saints do it. This isn't a tissue of lies you have to unpick, just a blurry childhood memory.
  25. It's not an 'article' mate, it's just my memory of supporting Saints in the 80s. Crikey, some of you guys have got short fuses...
