You're a qxnt, mate.

Real shame, always thought he was a smashing actor. Mona Lisa, The Long Good Friday, Roger Rabbit (it's great!), 24/7...

Depends what sort of thing you like, I suppose. I quite enjoy this one: http://ntslive.co.uk/

This is going brilliantly. Also, I'm amazing.

Back when I used to work in a record shop, the most satisfying aspect of the job was always when someone would come in with a relatively open mind and say, "I like this, this and this, what else can you recommend me?" So how about people use this thread to give three or more artists/records they like, and other people can make a suggestion of a record they think would suit (including where it can be heard online preferably). Then the person can give it a try and report back. How's that sound? I'll get it started. I like: Stereolab (I miss them) Broadcast (I miss them too) Pram (They might still be going... I miss them anyway) What should I listen to? Feel free to make me recommendations, or ask for your own...

I rather like Garth Crooks. Not because of what he says, which is inane at best, but because he says everything with mad "dare you defy me?" attitude. Which leaves his copresenters completely nonplussed, because he's said nothing you can even engage with, let alone argue. Compelling television IMO. Also, Michael Owen as co-commentator on BT Sport is pretty decent. Not afraid to say what he thinks and contradict received opinion. The complete opposite of what he's like in the MOTD studio. Speaking of which, Shearer and Savage are a pair of say what you see windbags, not a hint of nous, just cliches. And seemingly immune to criticism because they 'played the game'.

Just finsihed Spike Island, by Philip Hoare, a history of Netley's Military Hospital. Wonderful mix of personal history and global sweep, his childhood in Sholing and a century of war, Empire, medicine and madness. A really terrific book.

N'night all...

Poor lad. He has my deepest sympathies. Hope the family have good people around them at this hard time.

Went to see these qxnts tonight. The Winona Ryders. They were ear-meltingly awesome. It's garage rock, I suppose. But it's good to hear a man in a dress scream.

This should make you feel nice.

The bird out of New Order hasn't weathered well.

Here we are again! It's as good as the end of the year; which have been your favourite Long Players? Some of mine... Grouper - The Man Who Died In His Boat Shoegaze-folk (folkgaze?), reminiscent of Flying Saucer Attack if they were lost in the American wilderness, rather than happy on a hill in Somerset. Gorgeous indecipherable melancholy. Kemper Norton - Carn Bucolic but eerie wormholes through time to haunted countryside. Gentle drones and rippling beats and tightening unease. Boards of Canada - Tomorrow's Harvest Seemed to fall off the radar almost immediately after release, but I've been listening ever since. It's dark, like a holographic raven. I think it's their best record. Those are all really hushed and brooding. I'm sure I've listened to loads of happy music this year, but I can't remember what it was. What about you folks?

S'good that. Have you heard Alexander Tucker's solo stuff? Mmm, tasty...

Pellegrini didn't realise that 1 more goal ...

Aye, his mix-up has produced the most promising 2nd round pairing. I reckon City might be good enough to win that. -

This belting Autechre mix. Apparently it's 20 years since Incunabula came out. I'm old.

I wouldn't have thought Ramirez needs to ask for a rest.

Saw this guy at the Railway last weekend. Haunting stuff. I promoted his first ever gig a couple of years ago, and now The Wire and The Quietus and suchlike are all over him like some avant-rash. I'm well ahead of the curve, me... (n.b. this post is about how cool I am)
