Effing PC. I remember my Grandad telling me about how his grandad used to ship over these dudes and chicks from Africa and make them do stuff around their house for them without paying them. They didn't always behave, so sometimes they would have to beat them a bit. It was alright though, coz before that they used to live in like mud huts and stuff and spoke funny. We basically civilised them. Then one day people said this isn't right coz these people from Africa had feelings, and making them do these things, and beating them hurt their feelings or offended them or something. Political correctness gone mad I tell yer.

Was there a drink-driving incident too? -
I thought the same thing. re-watched it just before I made my initial post, and yeah it is just really shoddy defending. Still always really liked Anders though.

Which Anders goal? If it is the one I mentioned, he didn't beat a man either. Spurs just stood off and let him run at them. Apologies if it is a different one.

Purchasing a one-way ticket to Rio with the intention of a Leaving Las Vegas style blow out. Yeah, that is mental illness. As he said, he was trying to come to terms with no longer performing week in week out in front of thousands (millions if you count tv audiences). Living a pampered life style, and hanging out/partying with celebrities. Yes, that is mental illness. This of course not even mentioning the most obvious part, addiction. -
Wow, it wasn't really a wonder goal. He just ran, shocking defending not put under any pressure at all. Reminds me of Svensson getting the 3rd against Spurs in the 02/03 Cup game. Good player in my opinion FWIW. Will be an important player for England in years to come I would imagine.

Interesting move. Not entirely sure how this will pan out. I hope they don't ruin it, as the tech is amazing. http://techcrunch.com/2014/03/25/facebook-to-buy-oculus-vr-maker-of-the-rift-headset-for-around-2b-in-cash-and-stock/

Helps to highlight how devastating mental illness can be, and that it is completely indiscriminate - it can affect absolutely anyone. He is very lucky to have what sounds like an amazing family. Congrats to him in getting his life back on track, and being brave enough to go public with this. It's not easy to do. -
Really sad what's happened to him http://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2014/mar/26/claus-lundekvam-threatening-kitchen-knife?CMP=twt_gu

One win against top 10 sides ALL SEASON

Is going from winning the league by over 10 points one season, to being 7th the next; compared to going from 14th to 9th in the same period the same thing? -

If as GS says, it doesn't add up that teams above us want our better players, yet we aren't higher in the league than them. Who exactly do the teams that win the league sign players from? Clyne & Jrod came from teams below us, a division below us really - they both did ok. The point is they sign their best players, not the whole squad. Pretty simple really isn't it. -
Can't not agree with the sentiments expressed so far. He does seem pretty happy here, and doesn't seem to be angling for a move. I'd be more surprised by his leaving than anyone else, though I can't really say the guy owes us much. He's good enough to be at a CL/title challenging side. Whilst it would hurt to see him leave, I would not begrudge him it. I really hope there is substance in this, without wanting to get carried away. Also hoping the "I'm focusing on being the next Le Tiss" (or words to that effect) comments are true. Would love him to be a one club man. Would also be a good statement of intent from the new management team.

Cept the civil unrest is because of the govts decision to apply for the WC and Olympics. In the process spending billions on that, when a lot of people feel it would be better spent elsewhere. Not a problem for FIFA, or the IOC. A major problem for the Brazilian government. Why on earth would FIFA fix a World Cup to help out the Brazilian govt? Also, did you see Brazil tear apart Spain, the a team that has dominated International football for the past 6 years, in the Confed Cup final last year? Was that FIFA placating the people too? Did Spain decide to not show up just to be nice? Yep, it's me that's got it wrong.
-
Wasn't he always mentioned in HCDAJFU threads. Actually, was he a Saints fan as well? Could be wrong on that one.

Yep no arguments from me there. As I said above, I would like a new CB and GK in the summer. Think a fully fit again Vic would be helpful. The defence is on the whole pretty young too. Clyne 22, Chambers 19, Lovren 24, Shaw 18 - one would hope with more experience these errors will become less prevalent. That and a kick up the backside from the management.
-
Earlier in the season, we were amongst the strongest defences in Europe. I agree completely the defence needs strengthening. But in my opinion a lot of issues of late have been injuries and struggling I to regain form. Lovren and Big Vic in particular. I also think a new GK is needed. I'm starting to think Boruc is liable for too many goals against, and possibly even some shakiness in the back line. You just never know when his next clanger is coming, and it's rarely a long way off.

An alternate argument is last season we were much worse, we lost somewhere between 25-30 points from winning positions, so that is progress at least. I can't for one minute agree with the rest of your post. It just doesn't make any sense. Team needs a serious over haul? Why? I don't know for certain, but I'd be surprised if you believed we were going to make the top positions this season. We are a mid table team, in mid table. The young players will be more experienced for this season, both the good games and bad. How exactly do you think these experienced players you want get there? They get experience from both winning and losing. How are their strikers any better than the options we have? JRod, Rickie and Adam have all scored more than their top scorer. Barring the exodus that people seem to be discussing, which I don't think will happen I am very confident that this team will finish above theirs. I think they will improve, but not that much.

The end of the line is nigh for old saggy chops
KelvinsRightGlove replied to Yorkshire Saint's topic in The Saints
Burnley and Derby are the ones to look at. Leicester have spent a lot in recent years, look at the season they got promoted. Granted they have used it a bit more wisely of are, but they are still out spending a lot of other teams around them, but it's going to pay off so fair play. Plus I do like Pearson, who I hope is ok. Also, lol at "saggy chops", never fails tote me. Yes I know it's immature, but I don't care.
