  1. I'm more confident of waking up next to Katy Perry tomorrow morning than scoring the winning goal in the World Cup Final this summer. Well no, obviously not. No one is saying that. Is this how you rack up your Barry 15 - Others 0 scores? You start arguments with yourself so you are right? That said, teams like Everton and Arsenal have done well by selling players (sometimes their best/better Cesc/RVP/Song) and reinvesting that money on the squad. Remember that link you sent to me about Everton being massive spenders, or spending less than they had received on transfers? In Arsenals case that often includes investing in young players and bringing them through. Does that mean it would absolutely happen at Saints? No of course not. We would have to improve on getting the right recruits in (though we are better at this than you give us credit for). But this is always a gamble. Further more, I love how you cite Wigan as an example of how to do things. I'd love for us to follow their model, and get relegated. Or QPR, as you suggested we follow them last season - "at least they went for it". But yeah Barry 18 - Board 0, right?
  2. Seeing as you like to go on about people presenting speculation as it's fact. What on earth are you waffling on about? We havn't exactly been in the habit of selling our best players of late, quite the opposite. Whilst I could not say with absolute certainty - I'd be surprised if no offers for Morgan/Lallana/Lambert/Shaw/Cork etc had been made in the last few windows. A player may go, yes - but you are making up situations that are yet to occur, and there is nothing to suggest that all our best players are about to leave. Yes, if a club (any club, not just Saints) sells their best players it will affect the continuity of their side. That is about as obvious as saying if we take oxygen away from our players they will die. No one is disputing this. What is your point?
  3. Put into context - QPR spend more on wages than Borussia Dortmund. But yes, money, money and money = success. No matter what, just throw money around everywhere.
  4. I quite enjoyed Uncle. Wilfred (though not a beeb production) was good too. Agree with Pap. I really liked How Not to.. & The Revolution. Some of the docs are good too. Gay sportsmen, racism, addiction and mental health have been dealt with quite well. I was surprised how much I enjoyed that Reggie Yates show on South Africa the other day too. There's obviously crap on there, but some good stuff too.
  5. You are on a roll today, spot on.
  6. Whilst I agree that it is pretty pointless, I don't think that is quite how it works.
  7. Granted, I'm not great at maths. Never have been, never will be. But, can you explain to me how signing De Bruyne for £7m, then selling him for £18m is making a loss?
  8. I'd happily take Everton &/or Arsenal's 'failure' if I'm honest.
  9. I blame the EU. Bloody Polish/Romanians/Carlos Kickballs etc taking all the Criminal Mastermind jobs from this country.
  10. Thanks so much for letting us be a part of your special day gays!
  11. He is very welcome to her gash, just explaining the reality of the situation. Keep up Barry.
  12. Also, seems the nailed on Prince rumours weren't so true Was pretty up for having a dance along to the purple one. http://t.co/UBZLGjkXPC
  13. I basically said our paths have crossed a few times. We've spoken a few times, have some mutual friends and shared some 'drinks'. Doubt she remembers my name - have certainly never swapped numbers I'm afraid Super Mikey. Also, maybe try keeping up, she has bass duties herself these days:
  14. Maybe, I'm not so sold on this idea World Cups change everything. Given how much time and money goes into scouting nowadays, and the analysis that goes on behind the scenes I don't think 3-7 good games are really likely to spark clubs into rushing out to sign someone. Chances are, if you are good enough to play at a World Cup, most clubs scouting teams will already be aware of you. Just my opinion, of course.
  15. That injury was so frustrating, there were some very promising displays just prior to that. I'd still like him to come good, he is going to be a good player. But I agree it hasn't really worked out probably as both sides would have liked. If he does leave, I'd like to see an extra AM (in addition to one I'd already like to see come in) be sourced.
  16. Yup. I 100% mirror these sentiments. Cannot understand the clamour for an entirely new squad's worth of signings every summer. Despite it consistently being shown to not work out well for that club. Quality over quantity every single time for me. Agree with the areas you highlight too. Striker, CB, AM & GK in order of preference for me. I'm not a huge fan of square pegs in round holes, but possibly a CB that can do a job at LB & an AM also capable as playing up top would be really helpful. Though with how we play under MP it would take some real versatility, as FB's and ST's play quite specialised roles, i.e. FB's are relied upon to offer a lot of width and presence going forward - not neccesarily what you would look for as top priorities in a CB. Still not convinced on that Shaw & MP leaving is a foregone conclusion, as many seem to either.
  17. Puck you, I've said this before!
  18. Without want to get all Phil on you guys, Ms Nash and I happen to share a hometown, Harrow. I've seen her live countless times in the local 'club' Trinity. We have a fair few mutual friends. I could really tell some stories (but I won't). She was with Ryan Jarman, but isn't anymore. Pretty sure they weren't married either. He provided one of the more surreal moments of my life, when at an all day Halloween Charity event he rocked up next to me at a urinal dressed as Dracula. Given how out my head I was at the time it was very bizarre (I was a big Cribs fan). Anyways, she was with Zack from FIDLAR last I heard, who are pretty cool too. She does love a band boy.
  19. Yeah, but I'm still right though.
  20. Is it Barkhad Abdi, aka the guy from Cpt Phillips? One film, one best film nomination?
  21. Oi, on my Derby game Saints have signed a pretty decent CB called Paul Papp. You should get on that Papster! He's alright. MP is doing pretty good, I'm doing better
  22. Not aiming this at you, as I agree he needs to progress still. But that is the point, it's easy to forget he is 18. Of course he will have poor games/runs of form from time to time - and of course he needs to get better. He is however, at a very good level at the minute though. Some people do seem to forget this at times, myself included. We can't expect too much from him just yet, even if he does at times exceed expectations of your average 18 year old. I still find his strength and resilience very impressive for his age. Hope he stays, he can easily afford to have another 1/2/3 seasons with us, being first choice and improving whilst playing in the Premier League & England. He can then leave at 19/20/21 (hopefully) a very established player, with still time to improve, and plenty of time to be competing for trophies. Obviously I hope he stays with us his entire career and wins trophies with Saints, though I accept that may not be realistic - but hey a fan can hope right? I'm not totally sold on the idea he is certain to leave this summer if I'm honest.
  23. So, with the Oscars tomorrow i thought this might be a bit of fun. Saw this Buzzfeed (aka time/productivity killer) ranking of the 85 Best Film winners at the Oscars. http://www.buzzfeed.com/kateaurthur/all-85-best-picture-oscar-winners-ranked Some odd decisions there, but it's subjective, and obviously not everyone will always agree. 1) How many have you seen? 2) Which of the 85 is your favourite? 3) Which film should be the 86th Best Film winner? To get things started: 1) 36 (No idea if that is good or not) 2) Annie Hall - it's my favourite film, I just really bloody love it. I do adore Casablanca & Gone with the Wind, though I don't know many other people my age that have even seen them. 3) Only seen 5 of the nominated films, wasn't sold on Dallas Buyers Club - thought Matthew Mc & Jared Leto saved it, Wolf of Wall Street was great but I really liked Her & Nebraska so one of them for me.
