  1. Fair enough. I thought you did. Thanks, as I said was just interested as I had seen some differing views from the Leeds fans I know.
  2. I don't get the Townsend hype personally. My spurs mate who obviously sees more of him than me doesn't rate him at all either. For the sake of fairness, one of the IT guys at work is a spurs fan and thinks he's great. So, god knows. Don't think he's bad, just the latest hype player.
  3. I ask because I can never tell with you, is this for real? You're up that way, right? so will no a few. It's interesting, as the few I know are disappointed he's gone. The one I spoke too FB, and some of his mas also commenting feel he was stitched up a bit by boardroom unrest. Not saying you are wrong/lying etc. just interesting to see both sides.
  4. I'm not sure whether or not we are for sale, or not. No idea, so not going to speculate. I agree the statements have been vague, and open to interpretation. Personally don't thing there is much evidence either way. Genuine question to people, if the same players left in Jan, under the same circumstances they did but Cortese hadn't gone (yes I agree this may not/probably wouldn't have happened) would it be seen as a sign the club is for sale? I wouldn't see it that way. Apart from Osvaldo, they are players we expected to leave the club for a while. And whilst unfortunate, it's understandable why he has gone. We may very well be up for sale, but I don't think the players that have left are a sign of that.
  5. I'm not saying that you would individually go round the squad and put value x on each player, and then add that on to any figure for the club. Just seems daft that multi-million pound assets of the club/business would have no impact on it's value.
  6. So the players wouldn't come with the club?
  7. How do you make it through life without seriously injuring yourself on a regular occurrence. Do a businesses assets now not contribute to their value? Shall we exclude the stadium, training ground etc in the value?
  8. Without wanting to look for an argument, I would also suggest the club, manager (including Adkins with JWP & Shaw) and most of all the academy deserve credit for preparing them. For this crop of players who have been at the club 10 years of so, there has to be a large portion of credit given to the club for getting them ready to play at such a young age. As you, quite rightly, say not many players are ready at 17/18/19. There is of course an element of good fortune too. Maybe it's the clapper in me, but hey, you make your own luck right?
  9. Why is it ok to play JWP, Shaw & Chambers and not Gallagher?
  10. It's disingenuous to make out that players that have not featured this season, not even in 25 man squad leaving makes us weaker. It makes no difference what so ever. Osvaldo makes us weaker, agreed. But, why sign someone if there isn't a better option available? For the sake of it? I hate the transfer window. It turns fans into spoiled brats. They want signings no matter who they are. Gallagher has come into the squad, which he wasn't really before. So that is an option. He is unproven, but a foreign import is unproven too. As I said on another thread we spent c£13m on an Italian International striker with a pretty good record in Serie A & La Liga and had worked with our manager before. Did he really make us any better? Unfortunately, I don't really think he did, no. If rumours are to be believed about the Fonte incident not being the first, you may argue he made us weaker by being a disruptive influence. Obviously, it would be good if we could get someone in. But only if they are going to actually improve the team, I don't see a great deal of those transfers happening at the moment. Just panic signings. No need for Saints to panic, so why make a panic signing?
  11. Vydra is on loan at WBA, so they cannot loan him to us. Common sense.
  12. Puncheon, Sharp, Barnard, Martin, Mayuka haven't played at all this season, so I struggle to see how this makes the team weaker? Lee and Fox have hardly played, so it's of little significance really. There was a mild meltdown anytime Fox played, so why are people so upset about him leaving now? Chambers has progressed at a rate not many could have predicted, so if something happens to Shaw Chambers or Clyne can cover. Even JWP has done a stint at full back this season and Cork has previously. Speaking of Shaw & Chambers, no one seems to be bothered about us "relying" on these two 18 year olds. Hasn't gone so badly with them, so why not get behind Gallagher?
  13. So hard to tell with players coming from Greece. Even Samaras looked good in Greece. He may ofcourse come good. Might be awful. Bringing in strikers is such a gamble.
  14. You can never know that though, that's the thing. Could many see Osvaldo doing so badly? 3 goals? I can't imagine SG would get less than that given a run out. Ok so it was a bad miss, players have those all the time. Harsh to judge the boy on an hour against the best defence in the league (so far). As I said, if there is no-one available at a decent price that is going to improve us, why do it? It's still a gamble, even loans, why not gamble on one of your own? Personally, I like that we gamble on our kids, so long may it continue. Last year it was a gamble playing Shaw, and we "got lucky" it came off. Let's hope it does again.
  15. As "the nutter" shows, signings are a massive gamble too. Spending £13-15m on a striker with a good record in Serie A & La Liga whilst also an international striker and having worked with our manager before can not work out. If there is no-one better available than what we have, at a sensible price, why bother?
  16. Imagine if we already had a regular 18 year old full-back that people go into meltdown over if he is unavailable. What is the point of bringing someone in just for the sake of it?
  17. Didn't you use this quote the other day? This your new hilarious 'thing' then eh?
  18. Trending on Twitter that Kim Kallstrom is going to Arsenal. No idea how true it is, but man, what a monster that guy was on Champ 01/02. Remembering getting excited at a rumour Anders was trying to convince him to sign for Saints
  19. Ok thanks, wasn't sure whether this was allowed or not. Guess that could be one way round it then. Not that I actually think this will happen.
  20. Hypothetically, could they agree a deal, and delay the completion until summer? So in effect, loan him back?
  21. Often don't agree with you, but agree 100% with this if I'm honest. A signing would have helped, especially after Osvaldo making his bed, as it were. Bit it's not the end of the world. I'm not sure what people really expect. The club say they won't make signings before the window and will focus on bringing kids through. Then the Cortese episode happens, no one is talking about ins, all talks is about possible (notable) outs. It's not altogether surprising really. Something may still happen, and I wouldn't oppose it but it may not and that's fine too. Do people still not understand January transfers just aren't great. The squad is better than this time last jan, and the only player we got in was Forren and that hardly did much for us did it? Or you can buy loads at massive cost, ala, QPR and still be screwed. I'm also a bit confused about this outrage at us relying on an 18 year old kid upfront. Remind me how old Shaw & Chambers are again? I say it all the time, but it really seems people just want signings for signings sake. If they aren't going to improve us, or fit in - what is the point? We've seen what happens when they don't got in, and it's usually the same people that complain about that. Gwarn Gallagher I say! Though if we do get someone good in that will be nice also
  22. Finishing 9th and staying in the Premier League will ensure you get better players than if you win the FA cup and get relegated.
  23. Oi Pap, we almost agree on this one. How novel.
  24. Saw a few mentions on Twitter. Wasn't sure how true it was. Good signing for them if true/it comes off. I like Holtby, though is a bit of a safe Steve Davis - which we are ok for.
