Of course it is relevant. Just because something used to be common, or even acceptable, doesn't mean attempts to curb that behaviour are political correctness gone mad. Why should a Jewish person have to listen to people mouthing off about WW2 or Hitler at a football match? If you go to a football match just to scream dogs abuse at people, and then get annoyed if being offensive offends people, it's probably those people that are the weirdos.
