If someone is looking at replays and relaying that info to the ref, I don't think the 4th official is the right person. It should be someone in the stands, away from coaches/players/managers(/also execs etc) of either club to prevent anyone from getting in their ear or influencing them at all. I think this will also be quicker than if the 4th official is trying to watch on a laptop/iPad or whatever on the touchline with managers etc grabbing at them. This would slow things down most likely.

Apologies for the tangent, but if I'm honest I'd like Boruc replaced. Yeah he makes some great saves, and has a good command of his area. But, some of his play is suicidal, his kicking is shocking and he is pretty error prone. Has cost us points this season, though granted has made point saving saves too.
-
Surprised at the timing. Could have understood if it was earlier, but now seems suicidal. Actually going Fulham Norwich with a mate next week. Should make it a cracker. Wonder if Penfold can inspire another escape.

A few months back I had the pleasure of meeting Mike Bithell, creator of Thomas was Alone. He inspired me to have a crack at making games of my own, mostly for fun. Finally got round to downloading and playing his well received game. Must say I'm absolutely loving it. It feels brilliant. Looks so simplistic, but fantastic and the music is perfect. It's also got narration from Danny Wallace, who won a BAFTA for his performance. If you haven't had a go at it, I'd really recommend doing so. £5.99 on steam seems like an absolute steal to me.

I just think it's utterly ridiculous three men are expected to cover so much ground, with so many people on it, especially compared to something like tennis. It's not a case of we don't like this one, it's a case of let's help the ones we have. It's obvious they can't do it alone, to refuse to change it out of tradition is just stupid.
-
What a "pearler" as you'd say. No need to go over, old ground. Isn't that all you are capable of? The clappers! Gash! Cortese! The liberals! The EU! Blah blah. Everyone knows Guly isn't Prem standard, no one is calling for him to be a regular starter. He'll be gone in the summer, what's your problem? The squad lacks a little depth, it's still a work in progress. Boo hoo, let's make thousands of posts saying the exact same thing. On the plus side, I'm now less worried if MP does go in the summer. We can just upgrade to Barry Sanchez. He knows better anyway. And we won't have any of that embarrassing ambition nonsense. And we'll go for it in the transfer market, splashing cash on stars who have seen their best days already, ala QPR and bring in super players like the much hyped van Wolfswinkel. I'd have killed for Barry Sanchez to bring us the success Norwich have had. My only concern is that he does sound a bit like a Carlos Kickball, Alps will not be happy. But when is he ever?

Lol ok then. Tell us all how deluded we are again.

Better from you St Chalet.

You think you know better than the manager?

What a load of crap. Balls in the net, the game is already stopped. 5 second replay, goal or free kick. No players arguing. Pretty simple really.

Feel this is a bit harsh. Martinez was left a pretty good foundation, and Moyes often finished 5-7th. Martinez is doing a very, very good job - but I think it shows how good a job Moyes did there for someone to be able to come in and move it on so seamlessly. Moyes did also get Everton into 4th too. Granted, the style with which Martinez is doing it is much easier on the eye.
-
Not sure if he is quite ready made, he's a very good player but still a little raw around the edges (don't get me wrong I'd take him at Saints in a heartbeat). Jose has never really been one to develop younger talented players, preferring to plump for established, finished stars. I'm not so sure Lukaku will be at Chelsea next season, though I do agree he can become a very Drogba-esqu player for someone one day. Lukaku himself admits Drogba was always his role-model, understandable really, they are of a pretty similar build and share similar attributes. Plus, if you are going to model yourself on a player, Drogba isn't a bad one really. Never really liked the guy, but my word he was incredible. Utterly unplayable when on form.

I have a bit of a man crush on Martinez. I mocked that he was trying to rebuild the team he took down last season, before this one kicked off, it was tongue in cheek of course. He's built really well on a very solid foundation left by Moyes, and has got them playing some really great stuff. I like Everton, which isn't a popular opinion on here (I wasn't alive for the incident that tainted them for others, so it doesn't really bother me) and would like to see a bit of change to the usual clubs finishing in the top 4 spots. Though, they aren't exactly a small club.

Really feel for the guy. Has been 2nd only to Lallana in terms of performance this season for me. Really deserved a spot on the plane to Brazil, though I'm not convinced he would have made it. Guess that's one less decision for Woy.
-
Because the relentless moaning and haranguing of the ref with every decision doesn't stop the game? If anything, it would help speed up the game in those cases.

Sorry, from the other thread. But is relevant to this discussion.

Is a massive tune though.

I love the image of you ricin' round 'pool doing that Pap.

FFS, I just wrote a big rant about this on the Poch "dumb decisions thread". Is it wrong to post it here as well?

I say this so often. The game is unbelievably fast these days. Far more so than could ever have been imagined when the game was first conceived, or when referees and linesmen were first introduced. The game has changed, massively. The way the game is officiated needs to change accordingly. This desire to cling on to an outdated mode of officiating this game is frankly bizarre. There are 3 officials (the 4th does nothing in reality) to 22 players. Then look at the size of the pitch, especially somewhere like the etihad or old trafford. Asking referees or there assitants to be able to cover the entire pitch and see everything at the pace the game is played is simply ridiculous. They do not stand a chance, no one would. Factor in the rise in gamesmanship and cheating (yes Toure I am very much looking at you - marvellous player you are, but your behaviour as a captain was disgusting) and three officials, nowhere near as fit as the players (understandably) the job is nearly impossible. It is a modern game, we need modern officiating. It would have taken seconds for an extra official to watch a replay and see that was offside. The argument that technology would slow down the game is absolute nonsense, any contentious decision is argued over anyway. A replay available to the 4th official or a video ref would significantly cut down on this. There needs to be more officials, an assistant in each half on each side (basically 4 lino's instead of 2). How on earth can a lino spot something on the far side, or half way down the pitch on the line? I can't really blame them for getting those sorts of things wrong, it's a nigh on impossible task. But, yesterdays decision (offside) was an utter joke. Sat behind the goal you could see it wasn't even close. Granted it was a quick (and yeah if I'm honest a very good) move, but that was elementary. My gf, who knows sod all about football could see it and was shocked it wasn't given ffs. Pochettino will most likely get a fine, and the assistant will go and award Chelsea or United another ridiculous game changing goal, or penalise the wrong player with no consequence. Change is needed immediately. sorry for the rant

Gf has just surprised me with tickets. She's a keeper, shame bout our keeper today. Coys
