What I think is that we are getting our target market wrong, or at least using it incorrectly. The Serie A is probably the most tactical, slow-paced, positional, technical detail-focused of the top leagues in Europe. To sign players into the PL who come from this sort of preparation (Osvaldo effectively had his preseason at Rome) and expect an impact within the first 1-2 months is madness, and even the first season will probably prove to be inconsistent. The stamina just isn't there, and more so in the case of South-American imports (even slower pace) into Italy! We'll see how Lamela does Tottenham but even then I don't think he's expected to start week-in, week-out this season.

Wanyama's passing was awful, Fonte's wasn't. Nor Lovren's for that matter as I've seen mentioned around here. In fact the reason why their distribution wasn't great is because the midfield and even our FBs weren't there to build a decent move and we were forced to hoof.

I'm still waiting for a decent argument on why Fonte was worse than Lovren. That was not a penalty, it was a great piece of defending and also a sign that he's not a lightweight (another myth created by the Mr. Nice Hooiveld brigade). This forum really lacks assertiveness and opinions are excessively based on 5 minute perceptions.

I think what frustrated Pochettino was that Cork was more of a position type player. He's not incredibly pacey and Pochettino probably thinks Wanyama has that about him. The same with the shooting issue. In this case, I think it's more down to manager attribute preferences than tactics or even player quality really. You have to give the leader some freedom for his own tastes I'm afraid.
