Who will smile after the game tomorrow....

So Everton has done good cause they got money when players left, but still all our outlays are wasted.... I suppose you by that mean that we wont get a penny back if player leave us for other clubs, cause that´s the only way your asumption would be true...?? From those players mentioned we (or at least the club) only know the cost in the case of Forren, all the others are still Southampton players.... It´s very simple. Coming up to PL with pretty much an Championship squad will force you to spend money the first 2-3 years to stay up. If you do stay up the value of your squad will rise and then you will much easier have less net spend when you´re switching players in your squad. And when you buy a player for £15m (or whatever) it is not a financial cost in your books of £15m. You dont know your net cost until the player leaves the club, until then they´re in your books as an assett.

Are you saying the FA Cup is as big a cup as the league cup? Maybe I´m strange but I would hate to do a Wigan....I prefer to see my team compete with the best teams in the best league week in week out instead of going down and play the championship again. Do I think all fans think the same, no I dont. But it´s my opinion and as the discussion started out from players perspective I would still say that the majority of players would prefer finishing top four if that was a given choice. Now it isn´t of course as this (as most discussions) is hypothetical. Some of us can see the different reasons to things in football, some others cant.

So basically players should be able to look into the future and know what´s going to happen before they choose what club to join? Oh to be a troll and know everything in retrospect, must be a wonderful life. So that he stated the money amongst other reasons, that´s the only one that counts? Well that´s of course not being simplistic, is it...
-
Cause he thought he had a better chance playing week in week out at us than in those two clubs and therefore develop as a player?? Quite simple, anything else you want to know? I dont share the lottery numbers though...
-
It wasn´t an argument, it was stating that there are many different reasons why players switch clubs and I mentioned one of those. Regarding Ramirez I answered that in another post and while Bologna is a similar club in Italy to us here there is other major differences on the ambition of the clubs and the financial possibilities. Osvaldo wasn´t welcomed to stay at Roma and he opted to join us but probably the premier league was what attracted him and to join up with a manager he´s worked under before and that made his career really move forward then. There are many reasons why players choose to join a new club, but I´m pretty sure noone ever thinks about the league cup which was the focal point that started this discussion, at least for me as it was mentioned once again on this forum as some sort of fact that shows the clubs ambition......my view on that is completely different. It´s how we put the team out in the league cup that shows how high ambitions this club now have. I know fans want to win trophies but the focus point at THIS moment for the club is not going for the one-time-wonder and win a trophy but to really make the best possible effort to mix it with the bigger clubs in the league. And with the lack of squad depth we cant play a strong team in a midweek game in that competition just yet. Give it a few more years to really add better squad depth and we might be able to perform in it in another way.

Gaston certainly did. Even though the "trolls truth" on here is that it was all about the money he stated a numbers of other reasons to why he moved here, one of them taking the next step in his career.
-
Well strange post since I´m talking from the players perspective, and then you answers from fans perspective....
-
As I said, we´re not there for obvious reasons that most people (and all players) understand, except the normal few on here. So you´re saying that all things players think about when joining a club is whether they can win anything? No players ever think about the possibilities to play and be part of a team and to develop as a footballer....they would prefer sitting on the bench or in the stands week in week out as long as the club can win something...??
-
You have to ask them but why are those two always singled out in these type of questions and never for example Rodriguez or Clyne?? Do you make difference on players because of where they are from or dont Rodriguez and Clyne share an ambition to win things in your mind? And why do you think players prefer a 4th place in the league to winning the league cup? You never see players talk about the league cup but every week how important those top four spots are, why is that?
-
But the one reason they go for the league cup is squad depth. They dont put their first team out in the league cup, do they? We´re not there yet for obvious reasons that most people understand, except for the normal few on here. And find me one player that publicly states that he wants to go to those clubs because of the chance to win the league cup...
-
Yeah, all players dreams are coming to a club that aims for winning the league cup.

matthew windsor @mattcw0410 1h Not the look of a player that wants to leave in January #saintsfc @danistone25 retweetad av Dani Osvaldo
-
They´re not on twitter 24/7?? Sorry, couldn´t resist. And always enjoy your updates on here so keep it going.
-
The difference is the passing game and that Arsenal is great at picking up players already in movement with their passes which makes them look faster than others. Dont think they are if you put them in a sprint race accept for Walcott obviously...
-
Yeah, cause the most important thing is that some idiotic fans has seen the players before.... If you haven´t seen Ramirez or Osvaldo pre-Saints it says more about your footballing interest and knowledge than anything else....
-
Si Senor, Osvaldo was €15m (£12.8m).
-
Jordan Rhodes is of course Blackburns most prolific striker ever. That Alan Shea....whatever his name was got nothing on this guy...
-
And we know that THAT one comment will from now on be referred as the truth about this forums opinions amongst the trolls here.
-
Cant understand how Rickie didn´t put a through ball to him saturday, the opening for it was all there with Dani making a good run.
-
I thought Clattenburgh was good in the first half. In the second half he was just Clattenburgh again.... The kind of referee that feels the need to show he can make tough decisions, and that´s why he gets them wrong so often. The best refs react to situations, not act upon themselves....
-
Yeah, you have to improve to come close with your hate, but you´re going places for each week....

Yep Townsend has been talked up in a way that´s ridicolous based on 1-2 good games... -
