So finishing above Man U is more important than silverware?
Barry Sanchez replied to Fitzhugh Fella's topic in The Saints
What was wrong with Boruc? That subs bench had better players on it, why not start with them after all Rodriguez and Schneiderlin were brought on anyway? The question is does the manager have an agenda, the only agenda a Saints fan should have is wanting our team to win every game and give 100%. -
Coventry won the Cup in 87 so the same, Norwich? Possibly the same size, Charlton have won more than us and are smaller in size I would say now, Fulham smaller club than us again.
-
Their game has no reflection on ours, we should have played our best side as its our best chance to win a trophy, 6 changes and went out with a whimper, on talksport now.
-
a less successful one? I ask this due to the recent complete lack of respect shown by the club at actually winning something, I dont think many could complain if we put out our best side played awfully and lost as there would be no excuse. For a club our size we should unless at this stage of the season struggling in the League make the Cup a priority over the League. So back to the point is there another club in this Country that has such fantastic support and size and yet has achieved so little in terms of silverware. Please dont turn this into a thread about trolling etc etc as this is a genuine question that deserve merit as yesterday had shown do the club actually want to win trophies or do their priorities lie solely with the Premier League and the position we finish? If so they should be fair and honest and tell us of their intentions as we would be buying a product as they call it undr false pretences.

Others will though.

A win in a League game is one of 38 but a Cup Final win is a game in a lifetime.

You did not see my post after the Hull game? Selective and blind, but again I dont want to argue so simply dont have dialogue with me, have a good evening.
-
I am not going to argue with you as you want that, lets discuss the poor selection, the lack of ambition, the lack of goals and opportunities. Lets not be sidetracked into childish sideshows.
-
You'll find most of the perceived negative posters are not personal and spout vitriol, today I have been abused a number of times and quite frankly if the shoe was on the other foot I would have been banned, its open season by what is seen as the moderate poster and yet the one who airs an opinion on a forum (heaven forbid) is seen as troublesome, the order of the day is to sit back when Saints lose and come on here and kick a person who airs an opinion thereby venting their own frustration and appearing to be the steady ship in the waters. Nothing new in this technique, its as old as the hills, realpolitik.
-
The old passive aggressive thread after we lose an argument against the realists, as we have not lost in a while this highly unoriginal deflector shield system has not been on show.
-
I would still take your scenario as its success and its better to have that than stagnate. How boring is that.
-
What do we get for finishing 17th, a Cup win and a trip into the Europa Cup? Priceless memories for the supporters.
-
What a ridiculous thing to say and incorrect of course.

You are correct, the younger clapper is the one thinking we get a medal, an open top bus and access to Europe by finishing 7th in the League. -
That sounds riveting. Already I am seeing next season, this one has gone.
-
Well they are, no club our size in this Country has been so unsuccessful for its size, it is very sad and even sadder we are happy to accept this simply because we are in the top League, like a small dog beaten into submission, ******** to that we should be having a pop at every game, Wigan have given it a go and by Christ I am jealous of them.

What do we get for finishing 7th?

Ludicrous team selection. Utter madness.
Barry Sanchez replied to Glasgow_Saint's topic in The Saints
So you are having a pick and mix argument with yourself? Sunderland made 9 changes and still won, why did we not field our strongest side? It was not our strongest side, regardless of tiredness play the best team and bring them off if need be if we are winnning Christ Poyet was not even taking it seriously and he went through with his team. Embarrassing. -
I would be happy with an assured 17th and a Wembley visit and the chance for silverware, our history is years of emptiness when it actually comes to winning things.
-
I'm proud of it to but what has it won us, that will always be the elephant in the room, unless we are successful we wont retain the players.
-
They probably will, the only good out of this fiasco is the happier ones will be driven by pure force into the real World and the illusion they self created about our club is smashed. No ambition when this season was as good a chance as any season in recent memory to have some.

The ins and outs lad is your post is reliant on others and not our own, its speculation and a load of clappy rubbish, if we won the Cup we would be in Europe, are we going to finsih 5th to assure ourselves? Dont answer that lad, the 6th and 7th spots are speculation and do you for a minute think its going to happen and Pochettino os trying to do that instead of winning automatic European entry, again dont answer that, the hole will get deeper. -

Dont let facts get in the way of a speculative hopeless argument. -
Thin and qustions should be raised why it is so.
