Is the song a no then d'you think?

Ohh oh the Pompey, the lowly Pompey You give us laughter, the way you play You'll never know skates, how much we hate you So please don't take, the laughter away to the tune of the "youll never know dear, how much i love you..." song. Open to alternative lyrics. Possibly the second and fourth line could be better. Thoughts?

That's a shame, would've loved to see Neymar and Falcao at Saints.

Seems odd that we'd break our transfer record for a player with so few appearances and frankly, experience. http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/gonzalo-bueno/profil/spieler_188733.html is clearly not completely reliable, but just looking at his current history, their valuation of him seems, to an outsider, far more appropriate. I'm not writing him off and I'm sure Saints have scouted him heavily, but its surely a massive risk to put such a large chunk of our transfer budget into a relatively unknown player!

Who is our most intelligent/sophisticated player?
sydneysaint17 replied to whelk's topic in The Saints
Shaw would be very much bottom of the pile on that one. Morgan, JWP and Kelvin have always seemed fairly intelligent to me but although an ex Saint, Alex Oxlade Chamberlain has always come across very well in interviews - especially considering his age. -
Thought Glasgow predicted a signing Monday or Tuesday? Or did he say later in the week?

I agree with what youre saying completely however the figures on here, twitter, the papers etc. on how much we'll spend on individual players/in total have a fairly wide range. Whilst maybe not clear from what I said I was more referring to expectations that don't necessarily stem from concrete rumour - our perceived ambition based upon last season, our current squad, how we match up to others etc.

The level of player the fans expect, the club expects and the media expect seems to be fairly different at the moment. One minute we've got Torres on stand by in case a better deal falls through, the next were trawling the Championship to replace key players. Will be interesting to see who we actually end up attracting to the club.

Humble apologies. Any other posting rules I should know about?

Ola John linked by twiter account. Great signing if so but clearly not the most reliable source!
-
Nixon back on twitter, hopefully he can shed some light on whether we can expect a signing after the weekend!

Very much speculation from a variety of non ITK (as far as I know) sources, wouldn't even go as far as to say Id buy into this but figured I may as well share it. Apparently a real clincher in the Ramirez was a large signing on fee of £1m plus a very large agent fee. Ramirez then put real pressure on Bologna to let him go so he could complete the move. Heard that we are actually very interested in Erik Lamela and that Cortese is confident he can pull off a similar pitch to Lamela + agent to bring him to the club. In addition to this, the promise of a very big signing (Lamela) to push the club up into European contention is being used to keep hold of Shaw, Scheniderlin and Gaston. I realise that this is a bit of a rehash of some common knowledge and speculation however there are a few things that it does tie in with. a) Ramirez joining a newly promoted side over Liverpool/Spurs b) Cortese's statements about the ambition of the club c) Nixons big Italian signing d) Ramirez's recent comments about his desire to stay rather than join big Italian clubs e) Lamela's 2012/13 salary was around 1.2 million euros (around £20K a week) and given the financial state of most Italian club maybe there's a substantial financial incentive for him to move. Feel free to shoot it down but as I said before just relaying a bit of gossip!!!

Oakley still plays in League 2 for Exeter - always thought he was a fantastic player.

Imagine it was a throwaway comment that the Echo have pounced on however still not a clever thing to say at all. Had thought relations were pretty good with Saints/Hampshire with their annual quiz night etc.?

Firstly, apologies as I know there are similar threads already. However, for those who enjoy the excitement of transfer season, I thought I'd propose a scenario. If you were given a position on transfer committee and the following remit from Don Cortese, what would you come up with: 5 players in. £55m maximum spend; 1 valued at £15m+ (max 25ish) 1 valued between £10m-15m 2 valued between £5m-10m 1 free transfer Clearly those figures are optimistic on our spending, however in my opinion, thats the most I could see us realistically forking out this summer. What positions would you weight our spending towards and who would you go for?
-
...I don't think anyone was suggesting fans around Southampton were saying "OH Jack Corks back! Its basically a new signing!!!". Just saying that the impact of his return was similar to a new signing as we'd lacked a player of his quality in that position for some time.
-
This. Of course returning injured players can make a similar impact to a new signing when they return - be quiet Turkish.
-
have checked sky italia and cant see that anywhere though?

So current (reliable(ish)) rumours see us strengthening with Gamez at RB (approx £5m) and Nainggolan at CM (approx £15m). Now I agree that we need strength in depth, but personally I'd rather see us invest more of the money available in a winger, striker and a CB. Clyne, Cork, Schneiderlin were without doubt 3 of our best players last season and whilst I appreciate when they were injured we struggled to find quality replacements, I'd personally rather see us strengthen the weaker positions in our strongest side and then look for cheaper, bargain buys for bench/squad players.
-
Whilst I agree were an attractive prospect for a lot of European players, Gundongan is playing in the Champions League Final tonight... Lets get real!
-
not even a great lie to tell? At least make it that Kelvin said he was going over to Italy for his part in a swap deal for Buffon and Lamela.
-
Boruc Clyne Forren/Yoshida Astori Shaw Schniederlin Biglia/Cork Lamela Gaston Jay Rod Osvaldo May as well dream big!
-
Some people on twitter have far too much time on their hands. Fake agents saying we've agreed deals for Hooper, Austin (£8.5m?!!?), and Wanyama.
-
Double deal with Roma for Lamela and Osvaldo anyone...? Put Gaston on a plane with a fair amount of cash and you never know

Where's your money on Nixons mystery Italian?
