Is the ticket tax and the matchday premium now affecting attendances?
docker-p replied to dune's topic in The Saints
Yes, to the original question. As an aside. I watched Bordeaux v Toulouse a couple of weeks ago. Top flight football, cracking atmosphere, €18, (£15 ish). -
I hope you're wrong, but i think you're probably right. NC's latest knee jerk is all a little depressing. I was never a fan of AP, but even i thought he would take us up this year. Now gods knows what will happen.
-
The first one is total ******. The rest i can belief as the players were 100% behind AP.
-
ditto. But given NC's ability to fvc4 up royaly, i wouldn't be surprised.
-
OH FFS, leave France alone.
-
If NC had behaved like a prize t*at again, we wouldn't need to be looking for a new manager
-
You're reporting that like it's a fact. Unless you know something the rest of us don't, it sounds just like the sort of thing to say to let NC off yet another **** up
-
My thoughts exactly, and what sort of gross misconduct could all of them be involved in? One person is possible, but three?
-
There is no information, but there is form.
-
So people really think AP (formerly a hero to most on here including all in the Clotesse fan club), has committed an act that has warranted instant dismissal has he? It most be that because NC is so wise why else would he sack him in so inopportune time. Nothing to do with NC being clown then?
-
Have I missed a meeting? What new information has come to light about AP's sacking? Apart from some quess work by the Clotesse fan club?
-
The one on the left does look like NC though. And it would fit with his no photography policy.
-
Yes it's a different ball game when you're talking about the top 5 or 6 clubs. And they're not doing it. Why, because there is little to be gained. It's a mutually benificial arrangement. The big clubs, and there enormous sponsor, want the exposure. The sports editors want the pictures to sell papers. Why upset the arrangement over a few hundred quid? And if we do get to the premiership and this is still in place don't expect anything to change. The Sun will probably still mock us with the 'South Coast Club' bit but the rest of the papers will still happily ignore us. You're argument is based on 'if' the other 91 chairmen join in. Well for starters NC could have spoken to them first. But really he should have looked around and see what the situation is. Not only do no british, european or worldwide football clubs do this, Wimbledon doesn't, Cricket doesn't, Rugby doesn't, NBA Basketball doesn't, NFL Football doesn't, Baseball doesn't, etc etc etc. OF course this business opportunity never occurred to them, lucky we have such a smart CEO.
-
It's a modern phenomena in the western world, we draw information from various points, assimilate them and draw what's called an 'opinion'. Many people do it hundreds of times a day to go about their business. What I find surprising is that as many as 30% tried that process and failed to form an 'opinion'.
-
But with respect Saintjay, the other 91 clubs aren't going to follow suit, because it isn't worth it, even to small clubs. I used to work in the industry and I know we're talking in the low hundreds, sometimes less than that for pictures. If the CEO of Hartlepool United thought they were going to have a splash in the Sunday Times, not only would he probably pass any photos over for free, he would walk them down himself to fleet street, anything for the exposure. Every Sports Editor knows this, and every CEO knows this, bar one. Thats why Fleet street will just ignore us, except the Sun that will continue to mock us.

I'm sure the family are not fools. However are they intersted? ML was worth billions, his money will be invested in all manner of companies of which SFC will be one very small part. They don't live in the UK, they may not be football fans, i don't know, it would be easy for SFC to drop off their rada and NC to continue relatively unchecked.
-
This is exactly right. But with the legacy of ML's money does he even need us? He's certainly going about things in a way that suggests he doesn't give a flying uck about Saints fans or the clubs heritage, nor local businesses nor the press. We don't half pick 'em.
-
I agree young tommy from Worcester ain't ever going to support us. But a significant amount of income comes from advertising, and although we have no shirt sponsor this year we will want one again one day, and not ever having the club covered in the press is going to significantly dent our negotiation position. And one of the selling points to Tommies Timber Yard, was the thought his small perimeter hoarding might get splashed across the Sundays. All for a few lousy quid. And it really is small change in the scheme of things that NC would have made if successful. And do you remember the feel good factor when we were in the Premiership beating your Man Us and getting the Sundays the next day to read all the coverage? They aint going to happen again. It's nuts.

Don't worry about the Sun, everyone knows what a toss paper it is. Worry about all the other nationals that are now just ignoring us. As i keep trying to point out, we need the nationals more then they need us.
-
As has been said above, not if nobody is buying them. And I'm not sure that everyone is aware how little a paper pays an agency for sports pix. If all the nationals were buying them NC would create a few hundred quid each game, thats all. So for the chance to make that pittance, he's made us a publicity blackout. So yes he's an idiot.
-
Why? He's an idiot. Is it that he's simply our idiot?
-
And what about all the newspaper that are now simply ignoring us, and will continue to do so, because much as I hate to say, we need them more than they need us. And that goes for 95% of all English clubs. The only exceptions are the big 5, and even they haven't bothered doing this, because it's simply not worth it.
-
Exactly as I see it. If this was do-able, Man U, Liverpool etc would have done it. All it's doing is costing us money and making us look like tw8ts.
-
Your heart is right, your head as forgotten that his 'success' here was patchy (remember tranmere for one), and he was **** everywhere else he subsequently went.
-
Thanks for appreciating how difficult that truly was.
