https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lanmic/article/PIIS2666-5247(23)00074-5/fulltext ''Peer-reviewed evidence available to the public points to the hypothesis that SARS-CoV-2 emerged as a result of spillover into humans from a natural origin. A geospatial analysis reports that 155 early COVID-19 cases from Hubei Province, China, in December, 2019, significantly clustered around a food market in Wuhan, China. Many genomic studies report that SARS-CoV-2 has nucleotide differences that could only have arisen through natural selection and such differences are evenly spread throughout the genome. Phylogenetic studies map these nucleotide changes and suggest that they have not diverged from the bat coronavirus RaTG13 that was being researched at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, suggesting it is unlikely that SARS-CoV-2 emerged as a result of this research and instead they shared a common ancestor. Taken together, these findings support the hypothesis that SARS-CoV-2 was the result of enzootic circulation before spillover into people'' Anybody who disagrees with this obviously hasa closed mind. ( And what makes Steve Bartlett an expert on this subject ? The fact that he hosted the doctor from that video on his podcast ?)

https://www.labmate-online.com/news/laboratory-products/3/breaking-news/is-covid-19-man-made-or-natural/51980 'New findings from the Scripps Research Institute confirm the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus has natural origins and was not made in a laboratory or artificial setting, as many have speculated. To reach the conclusion the team used analysed public genome sequence data from SARS-CoV-2 released by China and identified several tell-tale signs suggesting COVID-19 is an organic virus. Do you honestly think I give a shiny shite about your delusional ramblings ?

A long, informed, opinion piece that I found gave an interesting perspective. Yes, it is the Grauniad, and yes it is long so some may well respond "TLDR", but it is there if you are interested. Approach with an open mind or a closed one, it's your choice; https://www.theguardian.com/world/article/2024/aug/13/israel-gaza-historian-omer-bartov

Take it up with the BDA, it is their report.

And you don't seem capable of understanding what YOU post; "Meanwhile, your hero is a war mongering retard and his replacement is a communist con artist. " is clearly alluding to politicians, and claiming that the target of your statement holds them in high regard. You clearly have no idea as to what Communism entails, and can only 'debate' by resorting to insults and playground tantrums. Your affinity to Trump is understandable.

Do you believe that in California they allow abortion up to the time of birth, and kill unwanted babies after if the parents request it ?

Their verdict on his 'Pioppi' diet; "Bottom line: Pioppi-ably not a good idea! The traditional Mediterranean diet is a healthy choice but this had been hijacked here. Fasting may help weight loss but the only reason their other advice is likely to help people lose weight is because it involves eating less food and calories."

All of them should be done by suitable people, the post I was responding to implied otherwise.

Did you miss the bit that said "I am not clear as to what that might be" ? The British Diabetic Association.
-
It is an opinion piece by somebody with an ulterior motive, though I am not clear as to what that might be other than self-promotion.

What does it mean when you read or watch something "with an open mind" but find that you disagree with what you have read/watched ? Malhotra is not a microbiologist or immunologist, and he holds many views contrary to mainstream medical opinion - for which some might view him as a visionary, others as a quack. He recommends a a low-carb high-fat diet, that has been described as one of the 5 worst diets to follow, My "open mind" says no.

Surely the Police is one area where we need to ensure that the people in the job are those best suited to the tasks in hand, rather than a statistical balancing act ?

It is hard knowing you are wrong but having to maintain a public persona that says your are confident in the veracity of what you say. Nic is a troubled soul that has gone too far down the rabbit hole and has now only 2 options; admit his error or double down.

Do you think he is vain enough for a Guided Missile Appreciation Thread ?

Trump is like one of those talking Action Man dolls with a string in it's back, he has a handful of stock phrases and every time somebody gives him a nudge the next set comment comes out.

God help me, I agree with GM.

If KWP staying, and leaving on a free next summer, means we stay up, is that good business?

Indeed. I can trace mine back to before the Civil War, but part of that genealogy is Welsh, part English, snd part Scottish, and at some point a dash of Roma. Which 'homeland' should I aspire to ? Do we follow the American logic for declaring yourself "Irish" on St Patrick's Day, one great grandparent counts ?
-
But are they each a distinct group ? How many 'English' have Scots, Welsh, or Irish parents, grandparents, or great grandparents ? How many generations back must the bloodline be traceable ? It is much easier to consider this in parts of Wales, or the more remote areas of Scotland, admittedly, but a lot of Britons are mongrels.

And the costs of care go up. There is no easy answer to this issue. Whatever is done to reduce immigration will cost, but would people be willing to accept that ?

Presumably the Ukrainians understand what they are doing, why they are doing it, and what they hope to acheive.
