The United Kingdom and the Death of Boris Johnson as we know it.
badgerx16 replied to CB Fry's topic in The Lounge
Ahead of the party conference many MPs have said they want an end to reliance on Dom, and want " the old Boris" back. The 'old Boris' was a fabrication, what we have now is the real thing. They fell for a lie. -

What a peculiar World view you hold.
-
It all depends on whether the CS leaked the details because they are 'leftie remoaners', or the Ministerial aides leaked them at Dom's behest to undermine Priti. You pays your money, you takes your choice. I konow where I'm putting my stake.
-
Surely the first line gives away the truth of the matter ? "The Foreign Office has been accused by Priti Patel’s allies of leaking “bizarre and unworkable” asylum policies to discredit her in an intensifying Whitehall blame game." And then; "......and it subsequently emerged that Downing Street had commissioned the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office to explore options for overseas processing of asylum seekers." So which "Leftie remoaner" is the problem, Priti or Dom ?

Wes, I agree with you. 🙂

Today is the 25th anniversary of the release of "What's the Story Morning Glory". Loud, brash, and arrogant. When Madchester ruled the World.

And if she infected anybody on her travels.

With the new local rules you can still go to the pub, but can't mix with other people !

Is it ? Given the influence of big money and industries looking for favourable legislative complicity.

It just shows the collective arrogance of those people who ask us to elect and trust them.

It seems that it is OK to shop without a mask if your name is Stsnley Johnson and you are the father of the Prime Minister.

Which one do NATO use now when on joint operations ?
-
No, there is not going to be an EU army in the forseeable future, the EU constitution won't permit it, but no doubt it is on the wish list of some people who want to progress further, in the mid to long term, towards a federal Europe. ( Which may not be such a bad idea if implemented properly ). I suspect most of the selective quotes being bandied about are being deliberately taken out of context, but I haven't the time or inclination to go through each to debunk it in turn.
-
Let's assume the rhetoric is true. With the USA threatening to severely reduce it's commitment to NATO, why shouldn't 'closer integration' of defence capabilities across Europe be beneficial ? Where does the UK's isolationist/indepedent stance then leave it ? Acting under the delusion that we are still a World Power with the ability to independently 'project force', or clinging to the coat tails of a self interested USA ?

Briefings For Britain, formerly known as Briefings For Brexit, still pedalling pre referendum hype.

( I think you mean British rather than English. ) Also, ( switch to MLG mode ); in the beginning it was the UK, ( plus the empire ), France, ( plus her empire ), and the Polish, ( plus the odd Czech ), versus the Germans. As the Germans advanced in 1940, Norway, Holland, and Belgium were added to the Allied side, although in small numbers. The Dunkirk evacuation pulled out not only Brietish troops, ( minus almost all of their equipment ), but also many thousands of French troops who carried on fighting alongside us after their home territories were overrun. How typically British to evangelise a disatrous strategic defeat as something to be celebrated. After all, didn't Winston Churchill call the Battle of Britain our 'Finest Hour' ?

You're like a watered down Guided Missile.

There is no EU army, nor is one in the pipeline. If Trump gets re-elected and reduces the US commitment to NATO there may be a need for closer defence ties across Europe, independant of the States, but that makes common sense and would extend beyond the borders of the EU. ( "Chinese virus" - boring, predictable, and slightly pathetic ) Most of the rest is rehashing the scare mongering produced by the leave side during the Brexit referendum campaign.
