Our Future? Stadium Expansion Proposal on Season Ticket DVD
Wes Tender replied to Colinjb's topic in The Saints
Well, as you spectacularly failed to comprehend what my point was, it can't really be used to further your argument of another point elsewhere. My point, which was put across in what I had thought was plain English, was that fans of Tottenham, West Ham, Spurs, Arsenal, etc, would come to St Mary's when they were playing us here, if they lived closer to us here than they do to those clubs. Many fans of those clubs in this area are plastics, many of whom have never even seen their team play at their home ground. There is scope for some of them to come here to see their team play, that was the point I was making. It might well be the case that having seen their teams play here on successive years, that they change their allegiances. I know of several anecdotal instances where that has happened, particularly with the younger fans. All this talk about fans in North Hampshire being closer to West London teams is also spurious to an extent, as it is not just a case of proximity, but more ease of access. For example, it is probably far easier to drive down the M3 from Aldershot/Farnham/Fleet/Farnborough, than it is to get to most London Clubs. But apart from those who might go to Reading, there is nothing else available along the South Coast apart from the Skates, Brighton and Bournemouth, all in the lower divisions. The scope for increased support if we do well, is mostly towards the coastline, where the major population areas are concentrated, rather than northwards, where Reading and the London Clubs begin to have more influence. -

Whereas I agree that the time to expand will be when we regularly sell out the current stadium capacity, I'm afraid that your remarks about the catchment area are flawed and indeed, in my opinion, contradictory. Apparently potential fans for us locally, prefer to spend their money on getting up to London to watch not only the glory teams like Chelsea and Arsenal, but also Tottenham and even West Ham. And yet it doesn't seem to click that if they are followers of those teams, they somehow won't find their way to see them play here, much more locally. And if they do, then that is immediately four matches that ought normally to be sell outs, before you consider the other glory teams coming here. And when those four London teams you mention are playing away up north somewhere and they fancy going to a game, do they follow them up north, or do they come here? -
From Micah Hall's blog:- It is one thing to call the allegations unfounded or unsubstantiated, but quite another to label them as defamatory. One would expect that if these allegations were in fact defamatory, that Chainrai would be threatening legal action against Hall, but unless Hall has not nentioned it, it appears that for some reason no such threat of legal action will be forthcoming. Chainrai is a very wealthy man and could easily afford the best lawyers to sue Hall for what any serious businessman would consider were very damaging remarks against his personal integrity. Chainrai must know that unless Hall would have offers from wealthy backers to fund his defence of these allegations in a court of law, that he wouldn't be able to afford it. So why isn't Chainrai coming down hard on Hall in order to shut him up, especially as Hall is doing a decent job of sabotaging his bid to be accepted as a fit and proper person to regain control of the club once more? This hot air from Chainrai's PR company is suggestive that there is quite a bit of substance to Hall's allegations.

Lots of threads on Nigel Adkins but......
Wes Tender replied to Fitzhugh Fella's topic in The Saints
We two and Art appear to be the only ones that have commented on the irony of it. -
I recall the intrigue and conspiracy theories when this Fry who had been in charge of our account at Barclays suddenly appeared on the scene in a significant position within the staff of the administrators of our club. If memory serves me right, he had been listed amongst the personnel on their website and shortly after this was brought to the attention of we fans on the forum, his name just as mysteriously disappeared. I would like to think that one significant factor that led to Barclays pulling the plug on us, was the increasing fall in attendances following the return of Lowe and Wilde. If I recall correctly, we needed attendances of around 17,000 to keep our heads above water and the campaign to boycott matches and the protest marches had begun to erode attendances below this figure and were gaining momentum. In any event, when you do publish the book detailing the facts behind this sad episode in our history, I suspect that the sales will be quite high.

It wouldn't surprise me. After all, we go incognito onto their boards and also vote mischievously on their polls.

Lots of threads on Nigel Adkins but......
Wes Tender replied to Fitzhugh Fella's topic in The Saints
You're not wrong. What a great line to start yet another thread on the subject of the likely fate of our manager. We're spoilt for choice on this forum; if we wish to add our opinions on either what will become of our manager and who will replace him, or what the attendance figures are/should be, then it's a real dilemma knowing which one to choose. It's the same after a match too, when instead of posting on the match thread, separate threads are required to examine the substitutions and strategy in minute detail. -
I've been really impressed with his long range distribution. I watched it carefully from behind the Northam goal against Fulham and when you looked to where it seemed best to kick the ball to, invariably he got it there, often straight to Lambert. It seems a much better idea than passing it out from the back, when you have a keeper capable of getting the ball to our players higher up the pitch.

We've got a poster called Saintinsouthsea. What's you're point?
-
Wrong, I'm afraid. You aren't the only club with fans prepared to investigate devious goings on at their club. Perhaps you're just too young to recall events surrounding the reverse takeover and the dodgy share dealings at Southampton which resulted in there being a BBC programme about it. I don't recall there being any programme regarding the Skates' nefarious dealings and dodgy owners these past several years. http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?8527-Panorama-1997-The-Money-Game

Most hated Celebrity who is still alive and why?
Wes Tender replied to chocco boxo's topic in The Lounge
Of course, but didn't Walsh mess up his lines badly? He reasons that the competition is all about singing and then can't decide to throw out the dancer. It is naturally all about viewing figures and it is helpful that there is a hate figure among the contestants who will generate column inches and controversy in the media. And I suspect that Gary Barlow's walk out in protest was also stage managed, just as there is always a cliff-hanger event at the end of the daily soap. -
How many tactical mistakes is Adkins allowed?
Wes Tender replied to Dibden Purlieu Saint's topic in The Saints
Agree with every point you make. As you say, we had several fairly gilt-edged chances in the first half. I put it at an additional 5 on top of the goal we scored. Had we scored two or three of them, then the tone of this debate would have been very different. Is it Adkins' fault that players failed to capitalise on such opportunities to win a game? Had Cork, Ramirez and Clyne been available, I'm pretty confident that we would have won comprehensively, even if the counter argument was used that Fulham might also have had Berbatov available to them. -
It becomes more obvious with each successive thread, that the Milton Road referred to in the OP's name, is the one adjacent to St Mary's hospital in Skatesmouth.
-
Yes. Honestly. We could ignore him if he lived in Britannia Road.
-
Attempt at humour? No, a serious point, that if threads are already in existence that posts could be made to, then there is no need for posters to say, hey, look at me, I want to clutter up the site with my very own thread, because I have some idiotic desire to be noticed. Cyber bully? Is the OP not able to defend himself then? Maybe not, judging from what he says and how he says it.

Add to that Louis Walsh, the spineless, idiotic, moronic, indecisive tw*t. -
You're right; the mods should have been right onto this. Starting a new thread when there are others that the post could have been made on is against the rules, isn't it?
-
I can well understand why you don't post on here often, as I'm sure that you are afraid of the embarassment that you might cause yourself by doing so. Apart from your poor spelling and grammar, your opinions are infantile and easily countered. But apart from all that, you seem to have a need to draw attention to your shortcomings by posting a separate thread, when there are others that you could have used. I'm with Appy; you must be a Skate.

Rylan Clark has done a brilliant job of a meteroric rise onto my radar as somebody loathsome. With luck, his fall back into obscurity will be equally rapid, but regrettably I doubt it. But happily Virgin Media allows the taping of X factor, so that you don't need to watch either him or the copious number of adverts. -
Just show us one post where somebody stated that we would gain "thousands of brand new fans from Wiltshire, Devon and Kent or indeed Somerset" You can't, can you? As usual, you're all full of p*ss and wind, having to use hyperbole in a vain effort to demonstrate what you alone consider to be your superior intellect. Instead, it just makes you look like an idiot.

Good riddance to the sponging parasite.
-
 There are things he could learn from his predecessors, like having an email address like the "tell Rupert" one, not to mention the cosy fans' forums and the PR company.
-
I haven't watched the programme yet and might get around to it at some stage, but what is interesting is that people are very ready to accept that everything alleged must be true, as it is covered by the media. Personally, I take these things with a giant pinch of salt until I see concrete evidence to prove their veracity. It crosses my mind that similar accusations were levied against Dave Jones when he managed us and at the time, many were prepared to assume that there was no smoke without fire.

I have absolutely no reason whatsoever to suspect we are in arrears with the taxman. Just because the Skates' owners don't pay their taxes and cheat charities, does not mean that we can be tarred with the same brush.
