  1. The post is ridiculous in view of our changed circumstances. If he succeeds in getting us promoted, we will be the better things that you mention. If he does not achieve that, it will be us that changes him for somebody better to achieve that aim. But I am happy that at the moment, under our current circumstances, he is the right man for the job and he has a great opportunity to restore his credentials as a top flight manager by getting us back there. The potential is to manage a club just below the top 4 in the country. Unless one of those top 4 wanted him, why would he want to leave us?
  2. He claimed to have become a fan, as have those other charlatans from the old board. It will be a test of that claim if they do turn up. They had the Ex-Directory box before, so perhaps they'll continue with it. Perhaps Lowe will want to attempt to get Markus to invest in WH Ireland.
  3. It really doesn't matter that much whether we sing Alan, Alan Pardew, Pardie, or any other variation. Provided that we get a lot of people singing it, he'll know that we are singing it for him, as will Markus realise that it's for Alan too. It will be a great way of welcoming Alan to the club and it will also reinforce the impression of a good family club with great fans that was a contributing factor to Markus buying us.
  4. Do you mean that he doesn't tend to see that there are defensive weaknesses in his teams and instead of addressing them, signs ever more midfielders and plays them out of position?
  5. Ah! I see. I couldn't be arsed to look up the correct spelling and guessed at it.
  6. Why? Does theirs only have cartoon pictures to explain everything?
  7. Is your real name Alan too?
  8. As well as being on the OS, it is also confirmed on Wikepaedia.
  9. I don't know whether it has been mentioned on any of the many threads about our new manager, but according to the announcement on the OS, tomorrow is Alan Pardew's birthday. An auspicious day for him, but also for us, as it is the dawn of a new era for the club with a new owner and a new manager and not only the first match when they will both be at the stadium at the stadium, but a match also against serious classy opposition. As the stadium is going to be substantially close to a capacity attendance, what better opportunity to welcome Alan than with a rousing chorus of "Happy Birthday"?
  10. Having read the second post, the thought had occurred to me too. There are difinitely similarities in the writing style.
  11. I feel a slight disappointment what with those other names being bandied about, but on the other hand, we have avoided having Tony Adams. And looking at it realistically, Pardue is somebody who would have been considered beyond our scope last season, when we had to look at lower Dutch league managers. His CV fits the job in hand, with success at achieving just what we need; promotion from this division and back to the promised land. I also understand from what I read that he is a bit of a disciplinarian, so that's a big plus for me.
  12. It's obvious what Pulis is doing here. He's not here to play football, as he's never ever shown any aptitude in that direction, but he's acting as a Trojan horse in our midst, scouting for his old man.
  13. I hope not. The poor man's Curbishley.
  14. One Marcus Leiherr, there's only one Marcus Leibherr...
  15. It's not often that we agree, Nick but I'm with you on this one. Whereas I feel compassion towards Hartson, mainly on grounds that I wouldn't wish his life threatening illness on anybody, on the other hand, he doesn't really register on my consciousness as being somebody that I really care about either way. To join in a chant for him which I wouldn't do so for most other circumstances, seems rather hypocritical to me, so I will abstain. Of course, if others wish to chant his name because they a) feel that it is a classy thing to do, b) just because he has been an extremely well paid footballer and we are watching a football match at the time, c) feel compelled to join in because everybody else does, then fine. It's a free country. But include me out.
  16. Please may I draw your attention to this subsequent post by Legends? A degree of latitude, perhaps, Billy? Anyway, it has been a good excuse for many to post very upbeat, positive messages about the match and most have expressed little concern that we might get thrashed, as they are just happy to be back there and to have the opportunity of welcoming our new owner and possibly our new manager.
  17. It would NOT have had a cinema next to it! How many bloody times? Because that last idiot who ran the club (whose name I forget) wanted a cinema and a shopping development, the project was vetoed by Eastleigh Borough Council.
  18. Well, FMPR who I believe to be one of the blue few who also posts on here, reckoned the money was coming through Heims, although as I responded above, Heims denies it. Perhaps it might be that Fahim wants to proceed with buying your fleapit, but that those backers could look elsewhere to other Premiership clubs that have much greater potential and include much better infrastructure for their money.
  19. Not according to the man himself, if this article in the Guardian is anything to go by.
  20. Yes, Phil. I have read all of those posts and very interesting too. But if you read mine, you'd see that I was only asking about the Al part of his name, what it signified and whether he was entitled to use it, as I understood that Fayed affected to use it when not entitled and wondered whether this clown was a similar case.
  21. I wonder if Dubai Phil or somebody else with Arabian connections can comment on something that I was interested in? Apparently Fahim styles himself Dr., although he is not entitled to do so. If true, then that points to a big ego and personal vanity. But what about the "Al" part? My understanding from the case of Fayed is that he uses the "Al" where he has no entitlement to it, again for reasons of personal aggrandizement and ego. Is this etiquet throughout the Arab world, or are there variations between Egypt and Dubai? I only ask as if he is not entitled to either the Dr. or the Al, then it would be an indication of a seriously enlarged ego. By the way, that is consistent with the suggestion that he might have some personal input into team selections, just like our dearly departed ex chairman.
  22. Roman gave some indication of this in a post on another thread recently. He had sent an email to Luker and got this response:- "Hopefully you have now seen the pricing structure and are happy with what we have produced. We have tried to keep pricing attractive to both new and renewing season ticket holders, and having over 1000 new season ticket holders in the first 5,500 sold hopefully underlines that we may have got this right. The corners will certainly be opened if demand dictates this, but we still want to keep an eye on operational costs in the interim" Now, although indicative, it is not conclusive as it is early days yet. But indications so far suggest that nearly 20% of the STs sold are for new ST holders. Whether that is entirely new holders, or includes those who just did not have one for the past year or two, I don't know
  23. No, I attended all home matches except the last 4 before Lowe's departure. I have had season tickets every year for the past 15 or so, except for the year we got relegated and then this last year when Lowe returned. I have attended pretty well every home game for those 15 years apart for those last 4 when I decided that I had had enough. Now that we have ridded the club of Lowe, Askham, Wilde, etc, I have been true to my word and bought a ST again, which rather spoils any accusations that I am one of those plastics who only supports the team in the Premiership. I have no issue with those who attended all matches regardless, that is their prerogative, but equally they should not crow that they are better fans unless they wish to perpetuate the divisions that they decried. I call for us all to move on because we have entered a new phase in the club's history and although it is important to learn the lessons of the past, it is corrosive to dwell on them.
  24. Move on and forget the past.
  25. Troll. What's the matter, John? New owner too squeaky clean and above board for you, so that you can't show us all how clever you are by exposing him as a tyre-kicker? What will you do with your time? (or probably more accurately, what will your minions do with their time)
