  1. I went to a very small Oasis concert, back in the day, couple of hundred people there. Radio 1 had one of there morning presenters there covering the gig to see what all the fuss was about (this newish northern band). About 15mins in, I kept falling over some one's shoe, I waved it in the air to see ifg anyone would claim it, nobody did, so I hurled it toward the security area. However, beer and excitement made my throw a bit aggressive and it stuck Liam somewhere around the groin area! He went balistic at the crowd and they all stormed of, 20 mins max! Next morning on Radio 1, the reporter claimed that Rock n Roll was back in a big way, energetic crowds, objects being thrown and goups storming off, reminded him of an early Rolling Stones! Apologies if you were there, too much time has passed to sue me for damages!

  3. Just finished 'The Fourth Crusade' and coincidentally, I am currently in Istanbul, which, for those who care, is as far as the Fourth Crusade to Jerusalem got. At the weekend, I will take in some of the sites and view some of the Palaces that are still standing. On the way out here, I purchased 'Centurion' by Simon Scarrow, as it is based in and around Syria, I thought that would be relevant enough. The dialect makes the Centurions sound like they are from South London though, but it's ok.
  4. Nice comment I'm stunned! But, I applaud the rise of LSG (senior!)
  5. UNBELIEVABLE! So, I take it that this is a 'massive' apology, in a very roundabout way, for all that abuse you gave me last season for saying just about this exact same thing! Except, I threw in a few words like 'tactics' and you went mental at me and couldn't get to grips with 'football' and kept pretending to fall asleep! Thanks, Apology accepted!
  6. On a slightly different note, did they ever find the guilty person of stealing from ours and the away teams dressing room at SMS toward the end of last season?

    Killer!

Killer was never the guy that picked the tall CF to mark, that was CL's job. Killer was always the guy that won the ball on the floor and moved it forward. CL would drop off and sweep, as his pace was never anything to write home about. If anybody has ever had a bad injury (let alone the sort Killer had), they would know that some days you feel good and other days you can't quite get it right, no matter how hard you try. Against Blackpool, Killer had one of 'those' days. Only through playing more games and avoiding further injury will he get his timing and consistency back. This may take a few, if not several months, however, his experience and his commitment make him a necessary selection. As he gets more games, he will get better. Give the guy a break, he is immense coming back and I beg you all to give him time, he will be our most important player come the end of the season, as long as he avoids injury. Although we have no room for journeymen or injury prone players in this squad, we cannot do without the experience and bite that Killer has. We need his leadership, his experience and his tackling to prevent us from going down. Let's remember that although he may have made mistakes, other than the penalty, it was a clean sheet. Thankfully he is not trying to make his come back in the Premiership, otherwise, we would have conceded more. But we are in the CCC and Blackpool aren't great, neither are a lot of the teams, many will struggle against Killer, and that can only be good news for Saints!
  8. Dyer was unable to inject that movement which would have got us in behind them, which I think was the plan. His control was really poor, his passing was not great and his running with the ball was not happening. Not the player he was last season at all. Has he lost his confidence, as he just missed a pre-season? What I saw today was the Dyer of 2 seasons ago but without the tenacity. IMO, McGoldrick needs to get nearer the goal, he needs to become a real goal poacher. All well and good picking up out wide, but he needs to hold his run and give the guys someone to aim for.
  9. I'm sorry, but that is a really weird comment, IMO. If you remember anything from last season, it was the absolute and complete shambles that was our first home game. We were murdered, run off the pitch, out paced, out thought, out played. Discussions on here went on about it for weeks and weeks and Bennet, well, he was lucky to wear the shirt ever again, even though he did remarkably well then, that first game was the nightmare to end all nightmares. Surely it is etched into the brain of any Saints supporter? Not having a go, but just find it strange that you don't remember it.
  10. Are you really worth my time and effort? I've ignored you for a long time CB because, well you know why, but I thought I would respond this once, just to show you what tosh you actually speak. Your paragraph above, I have never said it, never mentioned it, never believed it to be true. You make things up just to dramatise your posts because you seem to think that nobody will read them unless you exaggerate to the extreme and insult someone at least 3 times in any one thread. Just once more, for you and for anybody else that thinks this type of infantile tosh has any effect on me whatsoever - I will never run my life or make decisions that effect my life based upon the thoughts and opinions of a fans forum. If you think you are they type of person that does run your life by what other people think of you, that is your decision. And if you think that exaggeration and insults are the best way to gain attention, carry on, I'm afraid they don't have any impact on me. And I will continue to ignore you because it's just not worth my effort trying to enter into a debate with someone that can't communicate without trying to be some sort of cyber warrior. You, CB, are not able to change my mind and I guess this is obvious because you can't debate the issue without being childish.
  11. When all is said and done and we contemplate the pro's and cons, IF SMS was filled to capacity every week, where would that money go? Would it be on investment in the team, on the stadium, on the facilities, or would we see an insurance company pop up, a credit card drive, the conveyor belt of youth that we never get to see play and the constant journey men and temporary managers going in and out of this club like there's a revolving door on the managers office. I am still not convinced that if SMS gets filled week in week out that Saints (that's the FC not the SLH) will benefit directly. I don't think that this club will ever reap the rewards of success on the pitch and crowds on the terraces whilst Lowe is in charge. I will continue to stay away whilst Lowe is at the helm. Is this a disappointment, of course it is. As some of you know, I love talking tactics, I love to see the ball on the ground and I enjoy watching, first hand, the decisions the management make in respect to substitutions and tactical changes in order to get the best from the team on the day. But I don't enjoy going whilst Lowe is in charge. I com from a very poor up bringing and I respect the money I have and ow I use it. If spending my money makes me depressed, then I won't spend it. Watching Saints lose and get relegated, wasn't so muc depressing as it was acceptance of a very poor season. I was happy to keep supporting Saints trough the hard times and hoped we could turn it round after the change of Chairmanship. It wasn't to be, Lowe is back at the helm, and I wish Saints and their supporters all the best, but I cannot throw my money away to the likes of Lowe. Is it a class thing? Don't be ridiculous, it's a selfish thing, I think Lowe is selfish, I think he is playing games and I don't trust him. If he was a bin man from the streets of Southampton, the way he acts with my money, I still wouldn't support him. My life and situation is changing very rapidly and soon I doubt if I will be ale to go to games anyway (1 - 2 years) an so, no I won't be returning. Does this make me sad, no, I love football, football was my life for many many years and it is in my blood. But I also recognise character in people, and I don't like Lowes, and I choose not to support characters like Lowe. I am able to make this decision, because it is my money and my life. I have given plenty of 'my' money over the years, even whilst at secondary school, I would deliver 'Bettaware' catalogs to earn enough money to get to the games, done a milk round, a paper round and also cleaned offices. The money I gave then was much more of my PDI than I give now and it meant a lot. I gave 'all' my money in supporting Saints, so those that claim 'better fan' rubbish, you can carry on, it doesn't bother me, nor hurt me. I supported Saints or many many years, for better or worse, but if things do come through for me in these next two years, I will be just a follower and no longer a supporter, but that's life and I can live with my decisions. They are right for me and I sleep well at night, and it's also nice to hear a saints win, maybe we'll be on Match of the Day again and I can watch the live games on Sky. I live my life the way I choose, not the way people on message boards expect me to. I suggest we all do this, it's your life and you get one crack at it, do what makes you happy! I do, and I am!
  12. I don't see how not going makes my opinion on the style of play we've adopted any less relevant. Or are you disagreeing with what I said?
  13. What I think Saturday showed was that given the space and time to play this system, it can work very well. The key to this system as opposed to all out attacking, score one more than the opponent system, is the ability to keep a clean sheet. The more clean sheets we keep, the greater our chances of doing well. Killer is a massive part of our possible success this year, and if he keeps fit, it could be an awesome season for him, and the Saints!
  14. After attempting to explain the difference between 'Total Football' and the 'attacking football' under Nicholl, I hope some of you are now seeing the marked difference between the two. Not saying that I am of a higher understanding or anything like that, just that there is a marked difference between the two. Having the players to play either of these two systems is key, and so far, I think we have people that can pass the ball accurately to a team mate six yards away and then not be afraid of playing the wide man in rather than play directly to goal. Then, having played the wide man in, adding himself to the numbers in the box, looking for the knock down or the rebound. This style of play is most exciting when executed well and most embarrassing when it is played badly, just ask the Dutch.
  15. I think some on here excuse the 'poor' decisions of the incumbent board by claiming poverty and howling derisions of administration. Maybe, just maybe, Lowe is using the noose of administration in order to sweep the club clean and build it the way 'he' wants. Nothing wrong with that, as long as you agree with what he wants to achieve. I just think that some on here are so blinkered in the defence of the man, that they ignore the flaming obvious. Now watch as people jump on this quote and shout administration or what do you expect with no money, or, where's this millionaire coming from to save us, and lastly, why are some so anti-Lowe, they can't see that h is doing the best for this club. I do despair that so many sit back and excuse the inexcusable as this ridiculous fool plays his little game with our club. It will be too late soon and we Southampton FC will be unrecognisable. If you want Lowes dream, that's fine, not my cup of tea however, and I can assure you now, it's not due to the threat of administration that he is doing this, let's say more under the veil of administration you are letting him do this. Anyway, you get what you deserve in this life.
