Yeah, you lot are weird... what is the world coming to? why would anyone possibly want to meet new people? and using football (of all things) with which to do it... You people need to have a long look in the mirror!

I'm not interested in playing, but I got this email from one of the guys who ran the midweek league I was playing in last season. Thought it may be of some interest to you... "I just wanted to make you aware that I am running a FREE 5 a side football league at Mount Pleasant School, Mount Pleasant Road, Southampton, every Monday evening between 6pm-9pm. If you want to play FREE 5 a side football then get in contact or just turn up with your team." The blokes email address is phastings@saintsfc.co.uk if you want to get in contact.

Next season: Saints best ever chance to win the Premier League?
JN9 replied to jawillwill's topic in The Saints
This may well be our best chance of winning the league... doesn't mean we will be anywhere near winning it. -
Am I wrong in thinking that I have to have access to either facebook or twitter to vote? If you do, I can't help you I'm afraid....

You've got to love her dedication to throwing eggs at the man though... She did seem to go to an awful lot of effort to do something completely pointless (and probably completely counter produtive). Either that or, as said above, its a stunt... Think it was real myself, and did nothing other than guaranteed an few more hundred thousand people tuning in...

God I am glad that Adkins left...how embarrassing!
JN9 replied to Dibden Purlieu Saint's topic in The Saints
It may be a tad cheesy but isn't that part of his appeal? I for one hope they absolutely romp the championship, and that Nigel has a long and successful career... He had a massive impact on this club (surely no one will deny that), and he deserves a great reception when he (hopefully) returns with whatever club. -
I watch Aston Villa a fair bit (for reasons not very interesting...), and I think he is a very good player... Not that I genuinely think we will sign him, or that we're even considering it but if it was up to me I'd be having a look. Having said that I'd be a lot happier, if say, Rooney signed...

Andreas Weimann 18th June unveiled along with the new kit... you heard it here first..!

I was going to add in my original post that I'd quite happily take Carroll as a Lambert replacement, but then thinking about it, I'm not entirely sure that I would. (Can't decide either way) I'm much happier to be playing the way we are and not bulding a team around lumping it to Carroll... Although I still believe that he is very good at what he does.
-
I must say that Andy Carroll has looked like a pretty good premier league striker towards the end of this season. I personally think that he was the main reason that West Ham got a point at St Marys, and he seemed to be in good form in and around that game. Dare I say it, I think he deserves his place ahead of Lambert in the England squad (at the moment). But yes, Andy Carroll is a quality player, especially in a Sam Allerdyce team.

Uh oh... are you out sarcasming my sarcasm? I hate it when people do that... Well, that was a good use of my three posts...
-
Oh. Well I suppose I owe you an apology then... Fair play to the Leibherrs...
-
You're full of it... You made that up. There is no way that came from the Leibherrs!
-
Well sure... probably going a tad off subject though, maybe take this one to a different thread.
-
But surely you would agree that baiting the oppositions fans and not watching the game is slightly pointless?
-
Thats what I meant... Just not articulate enough to put it into words... Thanks Minty

I would consider "fair" to be more along the lines of "Everyone benifits equally"... I might be wrong (I probably am), but a flat rate tax would not be "fair" (at least not from my definition)

I don't know much about politics but I do know that spoiling your vote is completely pointless and has no bearing on bearing on anything... All you manage to achieve by spoiling a vote is wasting your own time spoiling said vote... Glad I could be helpful.
-
I absolutely was not trying to do that at all... Apologies (and I actually mean it this time) if that is how my post came across. I merely was interested to know how the quality of his work made any difference to how bad his actions were. Would it be less tragic if it was a no hoper? I (personally) think not. Anyways, thats my 3 posts for the day used up. If only I could scrape a fiver together, then I'd be in for some top notch debating...
-
Sorry to be pedantic (actually, thats a lie, I'm not sorry...), but how does that make it anymore tragic?

I have been looking at setting myself a goal and achieving something for myself (marathon, long bike ride, you know the kind of thing...) and I've asked a few people if they'd be interested in coming along for the ride. It doesn't take long for someone to suggest that we do whatever it is we decide to do for a charity. Now I've always resisted as I found the idea quite vulgar and not really in the spirit of what I was trying to achieve. I had struggled with whether I was being a bit selfish and a bit killjoyish for not going down the chairty route, but this thread has confirmed what I originally thought. I'm with the majority (I think) in that I donate to the charities close to my heart, but really don't like the street walkers or (even worse) door to door charity fundraisers...

When I was younger (can't remember exactly how old, probably about 8-10) I owned Crocodile Shoes (the album, not just the single) by Jimmy Nail and absolutely loved it. I re bought it a few years ago and still enjoy it (in private) from time to time... Same goes for (pretty much) anything by Meat Loaf...
-
Agreed, although I think a lot of the football culture you are looking for is still alive and well in non league and grassroots football. Sadly people are more likely to start supporting Barcalona than Sholing...
