  1. I very much doubt we'd let him go unless we've got another left back in the bag. Tabloid nothingness at the moment.
  2. What an incredible moment. Leapt out of my chair. And the fans are singing his name! That's gotta put him in the mix for the qualifiers
  3. Not a huge amount more if he was playing in Italy and moving to England. Probably £20-25m.
  4. It depends on how Andy Carroll performs this season. Hodgson won't take both, and if Carroll does well at West Ham then his existing tournament experience will work greatly in his favour. This is if Lambert doesn't score ~20 goals next season and prove himself at international level in qualifiers and friendlies.
  5. A player who stands in the goal and prevents shots from going in using his gloved hands as well as his feet
  6. That back four is probably a bigger gamble than playing any one of Clyne, Shaw or Chambers.
  7. I think Spurs would be wise to bring another striker in.
  8. Just checked, I have a 'young adult (17-21)' ticket for Sunderland on my noticeboard right now. I'm sure they do it for students as well, at the same price.
  9. Lovely stuff. Hope we can see this one through.
  10. Still there isn't it? At least, I thought I got one for Sunderland...
  11. Huddlestone is so underrated, I'm really surprised Spurs have sold him.
  12. The daily broadsheets are generally very good. The Times is the best for football, I think.
  13. Really? I've seen hardly any criticism of him in the press, unless you count the (perfectly valid) point that he's only in the squad because of injuries to others. If he scores the winner he'll be a hero.
  14. That's what Lovren's been brought in for. There are only a handful of teams who use two big, strong, aggressive centre halves and they are your Stoke types who base their game on those attributes.
  15. It's hardly foolproof, but you're right that it's quick. It's short-sighted, however, to view personnel changes as the one deciding factor in a team's fortunes rather than one of many - transfers are just easier for fans to talk about. We don't know much about training structure, fitness, science, morale, tactics etc but we know how good certain players look in matches and what they could add to a team. I think it's fair to say that a top half finish will require an improvement from all of our players and not just those who've signed recently. Pochettino will be looking for a better season from Rodriguez, Ramirez, Shaw et al - this is the thinking behind signing younger players who haven't hit their peak.
  16. Believe me, the press will be wishing him well. He's a wonderful success story.
  17. It's a horribly widespread myth that transfers are the only way to strengthen a football team.
  18. It looks like they're working to get him fit for Saturday, but we'll have to wait and see
  19. I should point out that there's no particularly compelling reason to believe that the middle of the table will be as compressed this season as it was last. Most teams look at a similar level on paper but it won't turn out that way every season when they start playing football.
  20. Fox wouldn't get anywhere near it! EDIT: (In a good way)
  21. Entirely fair comments
  22. Is that him between Pirlo and Balotelli? Looking very Johnny Depp.
  23. He'll fit in at Fulham then.
  24. Puncheon and Rodriguez at wingback
