I think that even the boldest of scientists would call this a theory. Temperature is fact; the last four years progressively colder winters is fact.
-
Dare I say it following on from the Boxinday meet thread, generally my experience of over population in wildlife is that nature throws up a disease to bring it under control.
-
I think that we just do not know.... something that is highlighted by the highly inaccurate forecasts on our weather. Now I do not pretend to be a scientist but we are betrter to be addressing population and the rape and pillage of sea life. As it happens I believe that it will be disease that gets us.

What internet forums? DiMaybe you should have joined in a bit instead of being judgemental and intolerant.

I am probably a little raw because my chickens were wiped out by a fox last sunday but fox control is a complex issue. It is very naive to think that hunting is some sort of jolly conducted once a year on boxing day. It is a way of life for a lot of people.
-
Then you should respect the people around you. That is their culture; yours is obviously internet forums.

Trap them and move them! How absurd - pass your problem onto somebody else! Foxes are vermin. How do you pen your chickens in? So you are very happy for cattle to be slaughtered (what about their rights?) and people to lose their living. You clearly are more suburban than rural if you have not witnessed the explosion in badgers in the last decade. Ever wondered where the hedgehogs have gone or the bees?

What because yopu watch Emmerdale?

Collapse is the wrong word. The British Empire never collapsed - do read your history.

That report before Copenhagen. The emails from East Anglia

I am not clever enough to read the New Scientist

Dune stop looking out of your window! I trust these experts who tell us we are going to have warm weather at winter and then when we do not tell us that it this weather and not climate.
-
As I understood it they were making the numbers up. There was quite a fuss made at the time. Melbourne looked cold last night.
-
“This winter could be unusually mild and dry, with temperatures at least 2C higher than last year’s big freeze.” The Met Office, 28 October. I love these gurus at global warming HQ.

The one on which the Sun never set.

I thought you would drink better wine than that

Well I am not sure I subscribe to this; I have said on this forum a while back that we are having increasingly cold winters (because I see it first hand). I think the met office are so blinded by global warming that they just talk about mild winters and barbecue summers. Now I am indifferent on this, I do not believe that you guys know more than the met office (is it fair to say that they must know more?). I am geen thinking and believe that population is far more important - what are we doing about this. Whta can we do about this?
-
Then why does the met office do it? Who else can we turn to - Russell Grant?
-
Then why do it?
-
Well these are our real issues. When you go out for a Big Mac, then spare a thought for those that think that have a beef chow mein with no beef.
-
Then why are they in the business of forecasting long term. Should they just not say 'well this is what will happen next week, for a longer view ask Al Gore.'
-
Yes but you are admitting that they have all the facts - why market a service that you are not qualified to speak on. People should start to ask what is really happening, or is it just nature?
-
No; they are at the forefront of climate change science because they measure it.
-
Why then do they stick their neck out. If I did not have clue then I would keep quiet; if I believed in global warming then I would say; expect a mild winter. I believe they are more qualified than you. If you want to be green then lets sort out population and fish stocks.
-
This is not a reasonably cold winter. If the met office is not qualified to predict long term then they should not express an opinion. The fact they did suggests they do.
