We have also had W9 Saint on here saying that he has rarely been subjected to any abuse, and that physical attacks are very rare. I'm still unsure what your statistics show apart from 1 in 60 LGBT have been physically assaulted in the last 3 years (I wonder what the statistic is for non-LGBT people in the UK?) and around 5000 hate crimes are reported a year against LGBT.

Mané on ten-man shortlist for CAF African Player of the Year

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang should win it. -
Well, that got out of hand quickly...what was the conclusion? - Some people are homophobic. - Some aren't. - It used to happen a lot but not as much nowadays. - Chapel End Charlie wants to rip CB Fry a new one. - CB Fry is still the master of ****ing people off. - VFTT still doesn't give a ****.

Post-Match Reaction: SAINTS 2-0 Bournemouth
Unbelievable Jeff replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
We seem to ret on our laurels too much at home, see Utd, Leicester and today's match as examples. If we actually played 90 minutes properly we'd be pretty good. Not sure if this is a manager or player mentality thing, but we've got to sort it out. -
SOG, where has Hypo said that? I think that's where the issue is. I would probably say the majority of male stewards on flights are gay.
-
I agree, the girlie one.
-
Maybe we know more than CEC thinks...
-
Like.
-
Stop it, people will take this post seriously and everything will get blown out of proportion!
-
This thread has turned into pure gold. Seriously, SOG and CEC, actually READ what Hypo has said, and take what he has written at face value. Don't infer things that aren't there and understand that stereotypes are there, because generally they have some truth to them. Not 100%, no one is saying that, but they do tend to ring true, hence why they're stereotypes in the first place.

A-haaaa! Jokes

Some might? Some men resort to being gay in prison?
-
Or lesbianism.

:(

Can't agree with point 1 I'm afraid, pretty spurious that there'd be false ones to wipe out those not reported.
-
And that's it, I think the bigger deal we make of it, the more 'out of the ordinary' it becomes.
-
Why is it unlikely? You get straight people there as well. Surely if someone wanted to go "gay bashing" that's the place to do it? As said earlier I an sure it does happen, I just don't think it's anywhere near as prevalent as some make out.
-
Well indeed, I just hope no-one shops me to the police. I'd hate to be one of those hate crime statistics.

Hull sent him back because he got an injury that ruled him out the rest of the season didn't they?
-
I work in Soho, and through the company I work for (where over 50% of the male employees are gay) I come into contact with more gay men than anyone on this forum I would say (oi, oi). I go out in Soho all the time. I've been doing this for 5 years, and have never heard or seen ANYTHING.
-
I hope when you hear these homophobic, racist and sexist comments they are reported to management by yourself. I also wouldn't call them 'ordinary'. Ordinary people do not have these opinions.
-
To be honest the stats mean nothing unless quantified against other crimes. I certainly don't live a sheltered life, no, but I also don't live in Tower Hamlets. I lead a very normal life, living in normal places and spending time with normal people.
-
And where did I say it didn't? However, to say these things are commonplace in society today, is an exaggeration and a myth perpetuated by the 'appalled' brigade. Because when it fully disappears, what will they have to get appalled about?
-
Yes, but they tend to be the exceptions to the rule, the Eva incident, the Chelsea subway incident, that woman on the bus. If they weren't out of the ordinary they wouldn't be posted as it wouldn't be seen as an issue.

Do you know what, I think the last time I heard the word faggot was 2008, when the BBC and radio stations decided to bleep it out of the 'Fairytale of NY'.
