  1. Getting a team who should have been finishing in the position they did with the squad they had isn't really proven. We did what was expected of us with Poch in charge. We would not get Lukaku unless we go in with a ridiculous offer and wages, Fellaini is atrocious, Chamberlain wouldn't come back and Courtois is too good for us. Apparently West Ham have bid £8m for Valbuena, so perhaps we should go in for him and players of his level but where we are now I can't see us signing a whole team of world beaters just because we have some money.
  2. For £9m we are not risking too much. That is actually a very reasonable price for a proven (albeit not in the premiership) international player. Even if Tadíc isn't an improvement on Lallana, he would be an improvement on our current squad. If we are looking to push on from last season then obviously we need to look for a higher quality player, but we also need to pad out our squad, and additions like Tadíc right now must surely be welcomed. While it's true that we've taken quite a hit - losing three key players and manager and coaching staff - looking at the managerial appointment, that doesn't suggest "downgrade" to me. Koeman is a much bigger and more decorated name than Pochettino was and is. I think if we can get top ten next year then we will be in a stronger position in the transfer market next summer. Players would see that we are still competitive despite the events of this summer and then we could look to attract the kind of players you're talking about.
  3. From all I have seen of both of them, I think they are around the same sort of level to be honest. They will obviously both have a few strenghts and weaknessess that the other doesn't, like Lallana looks better when bringing the ball under control but Tadíc looks better when running with it. Neither look to be that fast but as I said, I think they both look about a similar standard. I think Lallana has had one great season that has lead people to forget how average he looked the year before (to the point where some were beginning to note that we looked better without him) and how he didn't actually set the lower leagues on fire before that. Tadíc looks to be a player playing well above the standard of league that he finds himself in, I reckon he'd step up to the Premier League well, and would at least look better than Lallana did in his first top flight season.
  4. Not as good, no, in that short video he looks better! Haha My biggest concern with him is that he looks like he is capable of more tricks than the Cruyff turn but can he even do a Cruyff turn? I am saving my judgment on him though as I am yet to see if he can play with his hair as well as Lallana did.
  5. I like it and will buy it, but preferred last years...
  6. Clubs will now know we have money to spare and will take advantage of that by holding out for more. They also know that we need new players, and specifically a new striker and so will use that to hold out for more. While spending £4/5m would be ideal, due to our circumstances I suspect it unlikely that we will get anyone for that figure. Burnley also don't need to sell Danny Ings, so will expect a higher fee in order to part with him. £8m is probably around what we will have to pay for a young, talented, English player given our circumstances.
  7. I'm not 'worried' either but it would be good to have him in the squad though. We are going to need players to slot in to cover for injuries and suspensions as that's where we struggled last year and we could do a lot worse for that than Danny Ings ffs(!)
  8. Or he could have a good season and end up at a club who either do better than us in the league or show more willing to sign him than that...
  9. Worst case scenario? I think no players at all would lead to the worst possible line-up of not having one. As things stand, we could field: Boruc Clyne Lovren Fonte Targett Morgan Wanyama JWP Davis Gastón Gallagher
  10. Burnley want £8 million for him.
  11. Same floor and style of shoe, do we know if the yellow and red kit came from Jordan Sibley, too? Would suggest it was in contention at some point!
  12. Think the last couple of seasons have been at the same time?
  13. Haha good to see that this forum isn't the only with some complete maniacs! Nice to see the conflict between rational and irrational on the Liverpool board too! God I hate Liverpool fans.
  14. As above, looks so much better in the video. The9, MLT - any info on the away kit? Cheers!
  15. Jim Lucas just said on Twitter that the first press conference "should be next week."
  16. Yeah, he is. Wears the number 10 so I assume he is also in the starting lineup for them. Has played for them as recently as this year.
  17. That's probably what he takes home after tax and things like agent fees, no?
