Chuffed for Luke, don't begrudge him a move. Gutted he's gone, but looking at the business, it's great for Saints. He's now the most expensive teenager / fourth most expensive defender and a club record-received fee. Good business for someone not even 20! Speaking of his age, I am struggling with the thought that he will likely earn well over 500 times what I do in a week and yet he would have been the year below me at school! (If my maths is correct......)

I am just failing to understand the concept that the difference in kit can have such a big impact on your perception of the team. I have never before known anyone to "not identify" to their own team as a result of not wearing stripes. The absurdity baffles me. Surely you support a team because of the kit. We have not lost our identity. We have evolved it and created a new one -and a successful one, at that.

So you couldn't work out that you were watching Southampton because of their red and white kit? You must have a short attention span if you can start watching a game of football knowing full well that you are watching Southampton and then forget that you are watching Southampton because they aren't wearing stripes... Did you have the same problem with the sash kit? Or in 1986 with the mainly red kit... Only in one of the last 4 years have we had stripes - have you only enjoyed one of our last 4 seasons?

If we sign him, I will take full credit for that one - having sent a tweet to a link that he is currently without contract / club to both Southampton's official twitter page and Ronald Koeman.

Nice to see that he is "looking forward to speaking to the new manager", although I suspect that could have been to try and regain a bit of favour given the things that have been in the press about him. Seems to have really liked Pochettino, there was an interview with him last year where he called him a "World Class Manager" (Not [yet] IMO) and I was a little disappointed he never came out and sang the praises of Adkins in the same way - the man who made him captain, let him play freely and helped his development for the two and a half years he was with us. I really get the impression that Lallana has grown quite arrogant since the media have started hyping him up so much. I don't rate him as a £25m player - if we signed someone for £25m and he came up with 9 PL goals and 6 assists I'd be massively underwhelmed. I saw a stat around Christmas that he'd given the ball away more than any other PL player, too. He had a way of being unplayable on his day last year, but in just as many games he would be peripheral and not really turn up - but the media only ever sang his praises and so I think he has started believing his own hype just as much as the public have. I don't think that's a great quality for a Captain to have. A captain should bring the whole team together and not (appear) to believe he is the star individual. Telling for me of his attitude was that he is the only Saints player in (my) recent memory that points to his own name on his back occasionally when celebrating a goal. With his stats in mind, too, (9 goals this year - 12 PL goals in 2 seasons, a handful of assists, losing the ball stats and occasional peripheral games) I don't like him being captain for those reasons, either. For me, a captain should be one of your most consistent players, who plays at the best of his ability every minute that he's on the pitch. I seem to remember a game last year when Lallana and Lambert were both off the pitch the armband went to Schneiderlin. He for me would be a fantastic captain. He seems cool and collected, level headed and passionate on the pitch. His performances are consistently brilliant and he is another player that has risen with the club so he will know where we have been and would be a great example to players coming through the academy and any that we sign - another league 1 (written off on here by a lot of you guys) to the World Cup in Brazil story.

What's the chances that Rogers finds a way to start Lambert on the opening day and Liverpool get a pen..?

Not sure if they actually know anything (probably not) but will be interesting to see if we go in for him. He does look very good!

Was just seeing what it felt like to be a bedwetter who posts crappy nonsense, surely you of all can't begrudge me that!? For what it's worth, my post didn't say that you had inferred that. (Nice word by the way, I'm amazed you've had time to thumb through the dictionary for that in between all the nonsense you've been posting lately! Shame it couldn't help you see there was no 'illiteracy' in my post.) My point was that the kit probably isn't something that the players will 'rally round' over, but the prospect of some good incoming players and a high quality manager might be more an important factor in pushing on.

Thought there were some good players in the Swiss team, Shaqiri looked decent in spells would prefer we signed Josip Drmić! Has a great goalscoring record and his goal should have counted in the Switzerland game. Signed Blind on FM last year and played him at CB and he played well (obviously that's just a simulation but apparently he can play there. I also have him in my WC dream team and am amazed that he won me less points than Gerard Pique did!! Obviously Campbell looked great for Costa Rica, but I don't see Arsenal selling him to another PL team. Think I've already mentioned some of the Mexican players, and they looked great vs Cameroon. There are a couple players in their team that I'd love to see in the Premier League, preferably with Saints!
