  1. Not that I think Pochettino is off - he still has a year left to run on his contract after all, and I don't see him going to Spurs as he has said he is not interested in the Europa league so why would he jump to a team that is in the competition when he has a good platform to build on here (as things stand)? - but if he were to go then I would be interested to see how Felix Magath would do here. OK, he couldn't save Fulham this season, but he came closer than I thought he would and he was good at blooding the youth there, as well as having a good track record with keeping players fit and good history in the Bundesliga.
  2. As above, Lambert always gets it when Lallana on the pitch. I think I remember an instance last season where neither were on the pitch, in which case Schneiderlin got it. I think Lambert is a natural pick, the man exudes passion and so many players look up to him
  3. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/27368711 Must make Shaw a certainty to go
  4. Lambert in for Gallagher otherwise unchanged. J-Rod away from our first choice team, there.
  5. Hadn't even noticed it stop the game has been so dull. Fonte was down for a bit, Emnes booked, freekick to no-one
  6. Can anyone remind me how late we left buying Lovren and Wanyama last year? Lucky someone has finally had the idea to look for players now, shame that the club won't have been looking at certain players and sending scouts off all year
  7. But that's something that we have more of a handle on. We know likely formations and can speculate within a smaller set of parameters, ie the players we know are available, formation and opposition style. We have no idea what player wages are, and even if we did what could we possibly do with the information? Regarding people speculating on team selection on here, I find those utterly mad who write as if they are in Pochettino's position. "This week I will start Gallagher" or "I'm inclined to start so and so", a case of semantics I know, but I wonder how much power some on these forums think they really have beyond simple discussion...
  8. Would I take £7million for him? Yes! I'd love to have £7million! On a serious note, I don't understand people getting caught up on wages, it's something that is out of our hands as a fan. Yes we invest money through ticket and shirt sales and so on, so to an extent it is our money, but we don't actually know how much players are getting paid- whether someone has seen the pay checks or whether someone is making the figures up and claiming them to be gospel ( ) we just don't know, so what's the use in speculating on something we know very little about? If I were the club, £7m would be the minimum I'd take, he's doing OK at Juve and has a good (not great) goal scoring record in the past and international experience. I just don't know why anyone would want to spend big money on him though, he has been a nightmare wherever he has been and I think any club would be stupid to buy him, having said that, there do seem to be a lot of clubs with people in charge who love making stupid decisions.
  9. While I understand a lot of fears about losing best players and staff, I'm not concerned that we will lose anyone that we want to keep, barring any crazy money bids. http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11700/9268598/southampton-will-fight-to-keep-their-manager-and-top-players-says-chairman-ralph-krueger "Right now, the only thing I can say, whether we speak about Mauricio or the players, is that what we have here is very good and we are doing everything in our power to keep this group together." Remember a few weeks back the "we don't need to sell" article? Maybe, and this is just a thought, the board might just mean it.
  10. Has to be Berbatov? Remember Scott Parker walking him over to mark Rickie Lambert at that corner only for Rickie to take a step back and nod in unmarked? Seem to remember Berbatov spending a lot of that game wandering around just inside our half looking like he wanted to be anywhere but on the pitch before moaning at the rest of the Fulham team for not giving him the ball. Shame he's so lazy, has an absolutely fantastic touch and is a joy to watch when he can be bothered.
  11. Glasgow in attention seeking anti Gastón shock! Ramirez is the better player: he is younger, more athletic, more skillful and more capable of making something from nothing than Punch, and one of his better traits: he seems to be better at bringing out the most annoying in Glasgow, Alpine and BS than Punch! Win win!
  12. If Gaston is injured still by the time this one comes around then I'd like to see McQueen get a bit of game time. Had a few decent touches vs Sunderland in the cup. Wanyama in for Cork, or at the very least - on for 20 minutes to get some much needed game time.
  13. "I am open to discuss with the board whenever it's convenient and necessary" gee, I think that can only mean he's going to discuss getting out of his contract early, right?
  14. Chambers was one of the players on the receiving end of a nasty tackle, think it was Cisse that stamped on his leg (albeit [possibly!] by accident), so could explain why he may have looked tired or sluggish afterwards.
  15. In 10 years of watching Southampton, that is the best i have ever seen us
  16. He's got to go to the World Cup...
  17. He's so passed it
  18. What a great pass, what great build up play. What a goal!
  19. Agree with you here, Turkish. Not really a lot I can add to this, certainly does go some way in explaining why some think our scouting has been below par, too.
  20. Great result. Nice to see that we can win ugly then.
  21. Though a marked improvement on his performance at Fulham!
  22. Not fully, he said so in an interview the other week. Would explain why he started from the bench.
  23. Amazing the way he just makes space for himself. Outstanding. Lambert so unlucky there, too. Great technique!
  24. Seem to remember that working well for Paolo Di Canio, too...!
  25. MP already on the touchline, maybe a sign he is staying next year after all!
