Vorm to Liverpool would be an interesting switch. They already have Mignolet who managed to simultaneously look good yet wobbly for them this year. Then of course, the returning Pepe Reina who has said he will need to discuss with the club where he is playing next year. Beyond that I don't know a lot about Liverpool's keepers, apart from Brad Jones who wasn't up to much last year for them at SMS. Would like Vorm for us, but not instead of Boruc. Boruc for me is an important character on the pitch, really shores things up for us and has the inner nutter that seems to be important in great keepers. Vorm would be a very worthy back up IMO but don't know why he would want to sign to sit on the bench most weeks.

With the strength of the teams above us, I'd say the closest we will get to playing in Europe next year is Swansea away. If we keep improving at a steady rate then it's not out of the question, but a lot of work needs to be done to achieve that goal.

We do have a kit. The director of VEHO has seen it. VEHO aren't a crap main sponsor, local - run by saints fans, and operate the world over selling high quality product. Better than having Wonga. We actually do still have a manager. Vultures circling for our best players could be seen as a good sign of their quality, still, every silver lining has a cloud, eh? Probably a reason for their dismissal, we just can't be made aware of this due to legal procedures. Do you ever get bored of being so extreme, The "Nigel Farage of worrying"?

Something like this, please! "Dear Southampton fans, We have just been flicking through the very reputable newspaper, the Daily Express, as we are sure you have been, too and it appears that Marucio Pochettino is going to become the new manager of Tottenham Hotspurs. If you don't like the sound of that then don't worry - the London Metro don't think he will be, so you can find solace in their article. Here at Southampton, we are fully committed to bringing out the most hysterical and hilarious opinions of the reactionary fans on Saintsweb by only releasing a statement when something has been finalised. Until that point, please keep the amazing posts and threads. Southampton Board"

Does Omar Rowe signing a new one-year extension count? That's happened! -

I'm not sure if this has been asked elsewhere or if it's relevant here... Anyone going to the England game next friday? Just booked tickets for it as I think it should be a great chance to see the Saints players get decent game time at international level. Hodgson will surely give everyone a run out in these friendlies to try and find his best team. This will be my first International match. Have seen Rickie Lambert score for us in League One, the Championship and the Premier League, would absolutely love to see him play and score for England. (In the flesh that is, I am aware he already has two goals for his country!) -
"Media" leaking info on Poch could stir club to make an announcement sooner than they planned, a la the Adidas thing. Imagine they were hurried to announce that after Adidas confirmed it on social media. Although I don't think the board comment on speculation, if the Poch rumour gets "confirmed" by various sources on twitter etc, could be a topic too big for them to ignore / they will want cleared up. (Player transfers are different in this case IMO as the papers / media speculate on moves and figures all year round)
-
Also amazing how many people can complain about nothing being done at all just because there have been no announcements made! Haha Nothing surprises me on here, though, to be fair!
-
They were from ten years ago, what's to say the quality wouldn't be better after such an amount of time? Has it even been confirmed that we have an own brand kit next year? All I've heard for definite is that it is mainly red and that Veho are the sponsor. SO16_Saint is spot on, too, hadn't even thought of that! To be fair with regards to quality, when I was wearing my old own brand kits it was only in training for my old U10's (or so) team, or at the Grass Roots events I used to play at when I was little so quality was never a concern of mine and now I'm too big to fit in them anymore! They're all boxed up in pretty good nick still though
-
Assuming it is an own brand kit, it should be a little bit cheaper by virtue of not having the "Brand Tax". I've still got own brand kits from about ten years ago that are in better condition than some of the umbro kits I have. In 2014, I think that the difference in quality is marginal to be honest!
-
I have posted this (well, similar) elsewhere, but would like to reiterate the point... The director of Veho has seen it. There is a already a kit made, signed for and approved. We fans just don't have the details on it, but that doesn't mean the club are hiding anything from us, they are probably putting together an advertising campaign for it for when it is released (as a kit has been every single time we've had one, which if i remember we always have) and while our star players are away training with their respective International teams for the World Cup in Brasil, they probably won't get a chance to do a photoshoot for a while and we will see it when it is announced after the tournament. We are Southampton, we do have a kit. It's mainly red, and not Adidas, but it is definitely a kit! And another question I'd like to ask about, and I've seen similar asked on here already...why is the quality such a problem? Own brand quality was always a little worse than Adidas or Umbro but really, you wear a footie top to the game on a saturday and maybe once or twice for a kick about. Does it need to be the finest materials that money can buy? Or have we run out of other things to moan about and that's all thats left?

A lot of it is. Hearing nothing new after a week and declaring that we're up a creek with no paddle and so on massively over the top. Hodgson has said that he wants no talk of transfers in the England camp (whether this will be the case is a different matter) but the two players who have reportedly been the subject of big money bids are part of the exact camp that he has ruled out transfer talk from. They have the whole summer to decide where they will be playing football next season, but for the next month I would put money on them focusing soley on enjoying being part of the England set up for a World Cup in Brasil. They will be enjoying the experience and growing as players. They are both down to earth, and so will surely focus on the World Cup and then consider where they are at in terms of league action. Let's not forget that last summer they both signed new contracts, too. Another talking point on here is the kit. The director of Veho has seen it. There is a kit. We just don't have the details on it, but that doesn't mean the club are hiding anything from us, they are probably putting together an advertising campaign for it for when it is released, and while our star players are away training with their respective International teams for the World Cup, they probably won't get a chance to do a photoshoot for a while and we will see it when it is announced. We are Southampton, we do have a kit. Pochettino. Year left on his contract, and said in many press conferences that he has been planning for next season with us. Has a year left to run on his contract, what's the hurry to sign up on a new one when we have all summer until next season starts and he then has a further league year should he need it to decide to sign a new contract. Can't see him going to Spurs unless they make him an offer he can't refuse. He has a good set up here, and by looking at his interaction with players in photo's and videos - a great relationship with the squad. Spurs are in the Europa league, a competition he has said that he doesn't like. Much is made of the lack of managerial consistency at Spurs, too, the managers chair at Spurs comes with a built in trapdoor as he will knowas in the time he has been with us they have fired two managers. If he goes? It's not the end of the world, there are literally thousands of football managers in the world. Announcements...well, whats the use in announcing that there is nothing to announce? It may put the fans minds to rest, but then you'd still get people coming on here and asking why there is nothing to announce...when there has been something to announce, we have been told: players out of contract, change of kit supplier, Gallagher's new contract. If they haven't announced that Pochettino has signed a new contract? It's still being negotiated. If they haven't announced that Luke Shaw and Adam Lallana have been sold? They haven't been. Announcing things purely to put the fans mind to rest could be a dangerous tactic. If they say categorically that Shaw won't leave under any circumstances, and then Real Madrid come in and offer him 150,000 a week and 50m to us upfront and they sell him, fans will hold on to the "But you said you wouldn't sell him, you're a liar!" routine and use it as a stick to beat the club with. So much of what has been posted on here in the last couple of weeks is reactionary, over the top and ungrounded fear and concern. Personally, I have loved it. Some posts have been gold, and I'm especially pleased that Alpine started so early this year so we can have a good old laugh all summer. -

How quick do you think negotiations would take? A simple "Sign this and don't ask any questions."? What's the rush, the season has been over for a week and Pochetinno has got a year left to run on his current deal. Signing a new contract is a big commitment, how much time would you give to a new proposition at work, or a new job...or would you just sign it off ASAP to please everyone? Oh yeah, sorry everyone! Think all the players will leave next year, and KL and RK will have to start playing for us instead! And no kit remember, so they'll have to play in their vest and pants. Think we might get relegated. As you were. -

No statement necessary. What's he going to come out and say? "There is nothing to report but that's not stopping the reporters!" I don't understand the need to know everything that goes on. We know very little and talk so much, we don't really know anything about the running of the club and we never knew anything when NC was in charge. I'm sure when there is something to announce they will tell us. It's not like we'll get to Christmas and be told "by the way, we flogged half the team on the cheap." RK told us a week ago that no offers were made, why is that not enough for some people? And with 30 days until the World Cup I think that the players will be focusing on getting ready for that. There is plenty of time to decide where everyone will be after the biggest tournament of their lives. The papers need to write stories to sell issues, and don't be surprised if they make things up because it sells. RK has a football club to run, and doesn't need to peddle stories like those papers.

You'd think! Partnership termination has just been announced on Twitter. Statement says that decision was made in December so Cortese fallout could have been likely reason for the termination. No details of new kit announced, other than that information will be released in the coming months (Although I'm sure we all assumed as much, anyway!) http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/news/article/14052014-statement-southampton-fc-adidas-1552140.aspx

Just a thought, would an "own brand" kit retail for less in the club shop / online? Wouldn't be paying a huge markup fee for the privilege of having the Adidas logo on it?
-
Having just mentioned Spurs - They have just sacked Sherwood so I would expect the speculation linking Poch with the job to increase in the coming days.
