That's the only glimmer of hope that I have as well. -
Morgan and Jay to Follow According to Simon Peach

What makes you think he'll get all of it to spend? Lovren and Chambers statements make no mention of the funds being re-invested into the first team. -

FFS! Would the last one out please turn off the lights........ -
Exactly! Based on current events does anybody seriously think that any of our youngsters who excel next season won't be off next summer once the first decent bid comes in? Remember that horsesh*t about the spine of our team coming from the academy? Somebody tell the board it won't happen if we keep selling them!
-
If there wasn't a huge question mark over Morgan before there must be now. Why on earth would he want to stay if there are CL clubs interested in him? Furthermore, if you where Fonte or Cork would you sign a new contract as it stands? Another 3 who could be on there way before seasons start. Could be only Boruc and Davis left from the starting line-up against Man Utd at this rate.

1st or 2nd class though?

Although Lallana and Lovren did some arm twisting, a lot of what has gone on so far this summer seems (at least to me) to come down to cold hard business. Shaw left for ~£30M making him the most expensive teenager in world, Chambers is off for ~£16M which is a good amount for someone who's only made 23 1st team appearances last season, we paid £9M for Lovren and have got more than double back (~£20M). The fee for Lallana (~£20M) was reasonable as I don't think he'll do anything at Liverpool to make himself worth more. Looking at Fonte and Cork both have entered the final year of their contracts. It's unclear whether either have been offered new contracts but if they don't sign one during this window their value will decrease considerably. You wouldn't have thought anyone would offer a good money for them in January. Therefore, if they don't sign new contracts before the last week of the transfer window it surely makes business sense to off-load them then in order to maximise the amount they'd go for? I don't want them to go and it's ridiculous that it's got to this stage without them being offered contracts but in terms of cold hard business off-loading them this window makes the most financial sense if they don't sign new ones. Are the board only interested in getting money out?

Will this be the best transfer window for Saints ever?
Trout-Tickler replied to Mallagroth's topic in The Saints
How will know how much money is reinvested though? All the deals have been un-disclosed so unless the media reports can be believed it'll be impossible to know whether we've reinvested or not. I guess if you trust the board there's not a problem! -
Surely there must be some new signings close? Can't believe we'd let Lovern and Chambers go and not have any sort of good news on the horizon.

We should start taking orders. Are we the Crewe of the Premier League?
-
As others have said can understand the other sales (disappointing though they were) but selling Chambers really would be daft. What's the point in producing good young players only to ship them off after one good season? JWP must be disappointed as nobody has tried to sign him yet! Tried to keep the faith with the board but if this turns out to be true then it's hard to believe anything they say.

Do we have one of the top 5 best academies in Europe?
Trout-Tickler replied to Wiggles31's topic in The Saints
We do have a great academy and have produced some very good players...it would be nice if some of them would stay longer. At the moment it feels as though we're only good at producing players for other teams. Anybody remember NCs vision of our teams spine coming through the academy? Not if we keep f**king selling them it won't. Have we become the Crewe of the Premier League? -
I know we keep our cards close to our chest but stories due generally seem to leak out from the countries in which we trying to get players from. The Dutch press had plenty of stories of our interest in Tadic and Pelle. Also plenty of reports from Scotland last summer concerning the Wanyama deal. However, things seems very quiet at the moment but hopefully we'll be able to get some good deals done.

Only works if you're already sexually aroused!

I guess whether they make the group stages of the CL may prove a factor.

CONFIRMED - Steven Caulker - DONE DEAL (loan)
Trout-Tickler replied to washsaint's topic in The Saints
Has it been definitively confirmed that we actually made a bid for Caulker? -
I honestly don't know why we need to wait for Lovren to leave before we sign a new CB. We needed a new CB before the start of the window to upgrade Jos so why the hell would we be waiting until our best one leaves before signing another. We now need 2 CB's IMO and should have a decent transfer pot with which to get them. I really want to keep faith with the board but presently things seem more reactive than proactive in the transfer market.
-
Sure he was captain at Rangers before leaving. Could be wrong though.
-
Contracts are pretty much meaningless. Shaw signed a 5 year one last year, same with Adam and they've both left (for good money IMHO). If Targett has good season and somebody offers us good money then he may leave next year. Sadly that's the way it is. Be interesting what happens to football if Bosman Mk II ever happens!!
-
In the last year of his contract according to that so Villa might be willing to cash in and avoid losing him for nothing. Certainly had a good World Cup...coming here to work with a Dutch legend might be appealing to him. At £4m surely worth a punt?
-
Being so happy that keeps you going....
-
Be nice to hear from the ITKers whether there's likely to be any movement this week. Monk, Guan...any news?
-
I'm sorry but I just don't get this...he's taking time off which was pre-agreed with the club before he left for the World Cup. Why shouldn't he take the time off he's entitled to?
-
Uruguay went out in the last 16, Croatia didn't make it out of the group stages.

Out of interest, how many do you think Jordan Rhodes would score in his first Prem season?
